Why do a lot of people hate Kairi?!

I didn't know Kairi was commonly hated on. To me, she's just sorta...there. Not deserving of undying affection by fans, but certainly not deserving of resentment.

I will admit to liking her far more in the first Kingdom Hearts than in Kingdom Hearts 2, however. She played a more important role in the story while not being on the screen nearly as often. I got tired of having to watch cutscenes centered around her while I played Kingdom Hearts 2. They were long and dull. A good time for a bathroom break.
 
I didn't realize Kairi was widely disrespected at all. She seemed quite underrated though, I must say. I didn't regard Kairi much at all, as she was such an outcast of a character. I don't understand why she's so "hated".
 
Hated? Really? I have to say that I wasn't aware either. When I played the KH's I sorta liked her, until she didn't turn into a well devoloped character, but hate her? I don't think that I do.

I agree that she was just sort of there.
 
I really dont know why people hate her so much. What is there to hate? She brings everyone together (in a different way then being friends, like the violence between sora, and riku, in the first game).

i dont understand the big hate over kairi either i'll admit she plays the typical role of the girly damsel in distress but theres nothing to really hate her for i mean atleast in KH2 they tried to give her a fighting role where she could do something more then stand around and watch everyone fight i really like kairi and honestly see nothing really wrong with her i guess its just those RikuXSora people dislike the fact that kairi is sora's seemingly official couple and are taking out their rage on fourms and people who like kairi
 
I knew Kairi was hated, mostly by KH yaoi fans (Me being a yaoi fan myself XD).
I honestly had no problem with her and I really don't understand why she's so hated. Sure, she was alittle annoying in KHI but I really grew to like her in KHII. I really don't think there's much about her to hate.
 
People hate Kairi for the same reasons that some hated Rinoa. She always seemed to be the damsel in distress. I really don't see why she should be hated, as she was the driving force behind the first game and she is one of the Princesses of Heart, someone who is very important in the series. I like her, and although I want her to take a more combative approach, I believe she is one of the backbones of the story of the series.
 
I didn't play KH b4, but i did read manga for it. An' it has alot of detail about the characters. Anyway, In manga / anime forums, most ppl hate female main, and now i see that this goes the same for KH aswell....

What should i say...... female mains will always be hated, matter the reason small or large. Guys hate Fmain maybe because they don't understand the position they are, girls hate kairi, probably for the same reason.
Their are ppl that h8's kairi cause she choose sora instead of riku??? Boy, if u tell this to the ppl in some manga forum, they would just fly like an angel. I know this maybe out of topic, but i read this one manga where the girl choose to date a best friend because he had terminal illness, and decided to break up with the one she truely loves. the best friend of her's, did alot for her in any sorta trouble, although the bf did the same too, kinda like the same thing as riku to kairi. During that time alot of fans start bs'ing on the main female. What im trying to say is that either one she choose, between riku or sora, she would be hated anyways, groups that would persuade others to think the same, such as the youtube vid's about kairi being a !@#$%.
For SoraXriku , w.e yaoi fans...., This was expected from the beginning of KH, Kairu would always love sora. It was an un-avoidable pair. PPl saw it coming, no suprise.
I like kairi's character, her part in KH manga (same as the game, but with more detail) was something i really in love with, Her undying love for sora, was admirable, even without memories about him, her heart stayed strong and stubborn. Thats a pure sign that i like about love.
If it was RikuXKairi, then that i would find angry about. If she have any self respect then she would choose sora.

I never hated Kairi, sometimes I found her a bit annoying, but not hate-worthy. In the first KH, she seemed kind of too flirty, even though she's what, 12? :P I don't know how to describe it. She couldn't help being a princess, everyone was after her. I'm a person who only likes a character if I have a personal kind of connection with them-- now Kairi, I felt nothing for her. She was just there. I didn't really care about her.
But in KH2, things went downhill, seeing her fight made me laugh. She's not a sword-in-hand kind of person if you know what I mean. I feel like they totally changed her image. She's supposed to be innocent, sweet, and kind of timid; that's how I see her. But seeing her try to protect Sora over exaggerated. I don't think anyone would
jump from a huge height into a pool of heartless to try to save someone
, even if it is out of love. xD
She doesn't deserve to be hated, but that's just how people feel.
 
Personally besides her voice I love the girl, she is a very appealing and bubbly yet not typical and flamboyantly Mary Sue and weak as some would like to portray, I think jumping in to battle and being ready to kick ass like that was sick.
 
I hate her cause she's ugly, and doesn't contribute much to the story. I hated her first character design. It was awful to me and i think they could have done better. I did however like her design better in KH 2, but still not enough for me.

I don't really see a point in her character. She's just there for me. Again, i liked her better in KH2 but the first games just got me viewing her in a negative light. All she really did before was get saved and go wait on an island. Not much there. I really just don't find her character's personality interesting much anyway...

For the most part Namine was more of my favourite than her.

I didn't read any of the previous posts so sorry if this has already been said.

Some people feel that she gets in the way of SoraxRiku. So fangirls put her down and bash her as if that will some how make SoraxRiku more canon. I have personally always preferred RikuxKairi.

Other people feel that she is too passive and doesn't not do much in the series. Which may be true, but her role in the story is still very important.
 
Kairi is awesome <3 i've loved her from the start so screw the haters. The reason people hate her are just plain stupid xD Kairi4eva xD
 
I don't have anything against her personally. I'm gay myself and even my thoughts on SoraxRiku don't get in the way. Some people are just nieve and can't keep the actual story separate from their own. I was annoyed with her every now and then mostly cause I do have bad feelings towards most female characters who are just storyline characters without much use otherwise than to be the one that needs saved. As a plot device though she is great. I would like to see he become stronger physically and a bit more mentally. I'm looking forward to seeing more devolpment with her, but sadly not as much as other characters.
She does tend to be a bit boring personality-wise and character depth-wise compared to Sora, Riku, Roxas, and most of the other main Characters, plus you barely see her. Like I said, no qualms really, I just think some people are taking that rationalization and turning it into an extreme. which is Redundant since they can't do anything about the story other than write/draw fan art. <3
 
I mostly hate Kairi because I am one of those retarded RikuxSora lovers ;)

I also think she is a boring character in general and just haven't found a reason to like her. Although she is a lot cooler in KHII. Her head isn't as huge!
 
It's not that I don't like her it that I think she's annoying. She was more annoying in 2 then she was in 1.
Though I felt when Sora found her at the end along with Riku he made a much bigger deal about him for some reason. I will never support RikuXSora that's always ew.
 
i agree with ma boy rawrgna. She's so annoying. I hate her so much. Everytime she talked in KH2 i muted my tv
 
I never hated Kairi when I played the Kingdom Hearts Series. I'll be honest, I thought she was kind of like dead weight in the first KH. In KH II, she at least made up for how she was in the first game. All in all, I like Kairi. She's a pretty okay character.
