Why do a lot of people hate Kairi?!

I see nothing wrong with Kari. It would be very boring if every character was the same as each other. I have always liked Kari and I like the girly characters also I find them really cute XD
 
To be honest, I very much dislike Kairi. Why? Well, there is the Riku thing, but it's more than that. They sort of fixed her a little bit in the second one, but I got my opinion of her in the first game. She barely said two words to Riku even when he was right there with her (on the island. She had lost her heart for a lot of the game, so that's understandable.) After he did everything for her.

But, that aside, the real reason I don't like her is... She annoys me. I dunno. She just seems too... cookie-cutter. And who would put a 14-year-old in a mini skirt? That helps with the "whore" comment. (Though she's not, I know. I just don't like her.) She just seems like an extra character--like they just threw her in at the last second. She doesn't really DO anything. They try to make her appear useful at the end of the second game, but even then she doesn't really do anything. She beats a couple heartless and leaves. You can't even use her. I would've liked her a lot more if she'd have been in the story more.

And there's the fact that she's Namine's counterpart. Namine was awesome. And then I found out she was Kairi. *sad face* :( Leave Awesome Namine alone.

There's a lot of reasons why people don't like her. After all, you don't really have to.

Let me just ask you this: if she was taken out of the game, could the gist of the story still be told? If so, then is she actually needed?
 
Honestly, I don't really care about who Sora gets partnered up with because he just pisses me off. He's just too upbeat and happy all the time and it bugs me. The reason I hate Kairi so much is cause her sole purpose is too be the love interest of the main character. She's constantly in the need of saving. Until now, she's been fairly useless.
But, I think she's actually going to do something in KH3. And maybe even save some one's life (which I really hope she does...) Because:

I don't hate Kairi, nor do I like Kairi. Honestly, if she were to get replaced with a new character in the next game, it wouldn't bother me. (I know Lil Broski would be flipping off of walls about it though XD)

She's just kinda.... There. I don't hate or like her. Meh...

I'd love to see her fight though. Playable character FTW.
 
I only hate kairi from kh2 and beyond. In kh1 her role was that she was a normal kid like sora. She had spunk, personality, and charisma that made it obvious why sora had a thing for her. So she was a princess in distress, so what? It didnt make me think any less of her. She lost her heart. She couldnt do anything, even if she wanted to. And if she did, the story wouldve changed. Kairi even wanted to join sora and sora refused for her to join him. Overall kh2 version i hate. She got all typical. Quiet reserved type and her style also changed. Her hairs longer and not as red, more tan. Basically completely different. She was also useless until riku gave her a keyblade in which i found it to be the dumbest thing ever and in kh3D it further implied she will use it again...bleh....There are certain things that are not meant to be. We dont want donald and goofy wielding keyblades. So why kairi? Kairi played her role great in kh1, there was no need to change it.
