I don't think FFX-2 should be considered the worst, so many votes for that.

Worst FF game for me is FFTactics ones

They really suck, the battles is rather boring and long, which takes you a lot of time to finish a mission, not to mention the graphics ain't a boost for it, I mean yes I do like the cut-scenes even thought it looks like sketch, anyway I just don't like it for the gameplay and I don't think I will ever play it again, it's just a put-off.

FFV is listed on the top of the worst FF, I didn't like that game at all, felt way too plain for me and it didn't really pull me into it, the characters were rather dull, the only character that I can say I was into was Faris, she seemed interesting but that's it.

Compared to most, if not all the other games, Final Fantasy I would be the worst. The characters are lifeless, and there's nothing really special about the story. The battle system isn't too bad, but it's filled will annoyances, like having separate MP for each level of magic spell, and having a character's attack fail if they enemy they targeted died before they're turn instead of having them switch to a different enemy right away. I don't think it is exactly fair to judge a game that is over twenty years old to some of the recent games, however I cannot deny the fact that I enjoyed the other Final Fantasies more than the first.

At least Square improved, right? Though, the second isn't much better.

I'd have to say that in my opinion, FFX-2 was my least favorite. Although it gave the characters a happier ending, it seemed like more of a fashion show than a game, to me. :( They seemed to want to show off the girls's bodies rather than their strengh or personality. It really bugged me.

Yea I agree 100% on that.I was very disappointed in how they made Final Fantasy X-2

For me this isn't a complete dislike but...Final Fantasy 7. I feel like when you play that game it is just too confusing..and quickly thrown together..it was almost as if they weren't 100% sure about things..such as Zac and such. I do however think now that advent children and crisis core is out that if they re-did 7 and patched up the plot holes it would be a lot better.

Final Fantasy 12 though was no good(the graphics and videos were beautful though...). I was so disappointed! You start the game off with vaan and penelope who you assume would be your main characters...and then after a while they have no purpose...thier purpose is to introduce the main characters...The fighting system was horrible, and i hated how you learned skills and such. The plot line was meh..

I'd be really interested in seeing a poll with I, II, III, V, and X-2 excluded. I haven't even played X-2, but based on all the descriptions/feedback I don't think it was created with expectations to compete with the other main titles.

1. FFX-2 is a spin-off, so Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core and so on should be on that list too.
2. Why is FFXIII on the list? No one knows how this game really is, because it's not even finished yet.

@topic: Final Fantasy 8 by far. Mediocre story and terrible, unbalanced gameplay.

Though I haven't played all of the FF games in the series, I'd say FF3 (DS) because the storyline is rather unoriginal and too simple to understand and boring gameplay.

for a main numeral in the series id hav to VIII so far i luv the story the gameplay gets old pretty fast tho. its also to easy once u no how to use the junction system.

For all FF games X-2 def the gameplay was ok but the story was wack

I'd have to say honestly FFXI. The thing about it is that XI was an "alright" online game. but it came out when most of the online gaming giants released their games. So even though the gameplay was ok compared to others it just didn't seem to match up pretty well and it's following waned a bit anyway.

I am going with most people here. Final Fantasy X-2 is the worst. The story sucked and the characters weren't that great. It was too easy as well.

Ill lay off of say that Final Fantasy I - VI were bad because its not like you could really have a great story for a game on a SNES and you really couldn't do what you can now with games ethier.

I'm a disappointed in all the hate for I. As far as I'm concerned, it's immune to criticism. For one, it's a bog standard RPG, and I quite enjoy those. I don't need some overly dramatic and pretentious plot to have some fun. Not to mention it started the whole bloody series.

I know I'll probably get a lot of shit for this but - FFX was the game in the series I liked the least. The character's were incredibly annoying and forgettable, the plot was convoluted as hell, and the game was linear as fuck, which was a huge turn-off for me.
I'm going to disagree and agree with you here.
I disagree with the "immune to criticism" statement cause I played FFI when it first came out and I stacked it up against Phantasy Star , the story and the gameplay just wasn't as good.

What I do agree with not liking FFX.. I'll take it a step further..

I hate FFX , the main character was boring as were just about everybody in this game. Also when I play a game I put myself in the shoes of at least one character , in this game there was no one I found interesting or cool... Infact I felt just little bit gay....:holyshit: Really though it was hard to pick just one FF that is like that (VIII , IX , X , X - 2 , Tactics advance , TA2 , all the CC games , I'm sure their are others.)
However I believe ten is the worst hands down.

In my mind FFXII is the worst. Put simply, I despised it's plot. It was predictable, uninteresting, and bland. The voice acting may have been top notch, but that's only really relevant if you enjoy the characters in the first place... There was nobody I could connect with, and many characters seemed like just new renditions of old characters used in previous games with a few minor tweaks and gimmicks.

I saw very little character development, they seemed so less interesting than fully fleshed out characters seen in other games. In addition, I was always stumped as to why Ashe wasn't the main character when Vaan had no relevance at all to the games already boring plot.

Vaan was basically there just to sit around wanting to be a pirate. o_O

The battle system wasn't terrible, but I still didn't like how it was executed. It left very little room for strategy beyond setting up your gambits (something that I'd already grown bored of because it had basically already been used in just about every Tales game).

The graphics may have been phenomanal (especially since it's on the PS2), but despite what Square-Enix seems to think lately I really don't give a crap about graphics beyond how they affect gameplay. I would have much prefered a game with sub-par graphics and a decent plot.

In FFX-2 you do get to influence the storyline in a couple of places and it has multiple endings.

Okay, THAT is what turns me away from X-2. I can deal with the girly stuff (to a point) if it's going to end epically. I can't deal with multiple endings, not in a Final Fantasy game. Especially not X. I want a canon ending, one that everyone agrees is the correct ending. (Preferably, Tidus comes back)

The gameplay was meh, I wish they'd have kept the turn based from X.

Not much else to say, really. It should have been better, Square can do better than that.

So you don't like RPGs with actual RPG elements? Fair enough. To each his own I guess. Personally I wish Square would do more stuff in that vein (FF X-2, the Chrono games, etc.)

Well theres a reason for all of them...

ff1- Started an empire but it lacked detail (who cares, It's ff1!)
Ff2- Cool innovative battle and story. but Gets tiring and boring
Ff3- By far the worst i've played... I cant see any pro's lol
Ff4- boring story and characters, my second most hated
Ff5- I liked the characters and job system (GILGAMESH) But it was a boring story
Ff6- It was fun, But didn't live up to the hype
Ff7- fun, but plain story and characters (people are gonna hate me haha)
Ff8- Awesome story (My favorite one lol) But ...??? I really dont know haha
Ff9- Fun as hell, but the animative characters makes it feel young
FfX- Funa nd innovative, but it is a letdown compared to the previous titles
FfX1- Online=Fail, I personaly never played it but it seems boring...
Ff12- Awesome playing, but would be better if it wasn't an ff title

^ Eh, XII does fine as an FF title...it's got pretty much all the standard elements you need.

And on the multiple endings of X-2, they could have made a bit more fulfilling for general fans, and not just for diehard TidusxYuna fans which is what it personally felt like to me.

Due to the various reasons posted over the last 10 pages, I am going to have to agree with the majority and say FFX-2 and FFTA

If anyone answered anything other than X-2, theres definitely something wrong. Final Fantasy X-2 killed the FF series and it hasnt revived since. I was the biggest fan of FF ever, and ill never forget going home that day and plugging this disc in my PS2, only to witness my favorite game series of all time hands down - be completely destroyed in a matter of about 15 minutes. The story picks up from my least favorite of the classic FF games, FFX, except takes it in a direction far, far worse than I could have imagined in my worst nightmares.

When I saw the scene with the "YRP" thing, that was the first time ive ever searched around my house for a vomit bag. Between this, and the dress spheres, no summons, the worst battle system EVER, no Nobuo Uematsu, the worst main characters EVER, and a story line that can be summed up in 2 words, nothing could possibly be worse. I'd rather be forced into a 48 hour marathon session of playing E.T. on the Atari than play X-2. I'd rather gargle with a cup of drano than play X-2.

In fact, this game was so bad the series still hasnt revived itself some 6 years later. 12 tried to do something in the right direction, but the characters were so forgettable and the story line was as flavorful as eating a piece of cardboard, with no salt, ketchup or other assorted condiments included. Not to mention the battle system was terrible, and it was almost as if the game was controlling itself. The only character I can even remember is Balthier, I literally couldnt even tell you the names of the other characters in the story.

However, ive played the demo for Dissidia and its absolutely amazing! This might have restored my faith a bit that things are going back in the right direction. But as great as Dissidia looks and will be....I want a Final Fantasy game. A REAL Final Fantasy game. One thats new, one that brings unforgettable characters, melodies, story and a battle system that you get addicted to and cant get enough of. One that has a Villain that is so memorable and epic (See Sephiroth, Kefka) that you can love or hate. One that has Nobuo Uematsu writing his epic tunes (See Battle with Gilgamesh, One Winged Angel, Dancing Mad, The Castle, The Four Fiends, Neo ExDeath, etc etc).

Heres to hoping FF13 will cast a much needed Phoenix Down followed up by a Megalixir on the Final Fantasy series.

FF2. Because of the poorly implemented skill/stat development, clunky menu interface (NES), limited inventory that doesn't let you stack items like potions, occasional insane encounters, and the painfully low success rate of running from battles. FF3 and even FF1 actually felt polished compared to this game. Even though FF1 had alot of similar frustrations with unfair encounters. I can't comment much on FF3 since I played very little of it.

Added: Although I haven't yet played X-2 and XII, I have watched some gameplay videos of X-2 and some of the intro. I say "some" because it was very difficult for me to sit through the whole thing. I don't think I will be playing this game. Ever.
