Your Favorite or best party

I always used the males. I tend to do that in most FF games, it seems.. all bar FF9 or FF10, that is. Zell, Irvine, and Squall. Yep, that was my party. Zell and Squall were the only useful ones as far as physical attacks go. Irvine was a bit weak.. he never dished that much damage, sadly. The reason why I didn't use Selphie or Rinoa was because they always leave the party, making them unplayable.

In my first play-through, my party was Squall, Zell, and Rinoa. Rinoa was kickass, but then she kept leaving the party.. and when I had to fight Adel, I used Quistis in her place, who was like.. level 18 -_-;

*surprised I haven't posted here yet*

Ah well, this is how things go for me. Each time I play the game, I always use Squall and I always use Zell. I normally choose my parties in all games for their Limit Breaks, and Lionheart speaks for itself with Squall. I really do enjoy Zell's Limit as well, so I always tend to use him. The third party member is the only one who has ever varied, and I've used Selphie, Quistis, and Irvine in that slot.

For some reason, I never felt like using Rinoa in my party unless I was forced. Sorry, but I thought her Limit Break was rubbish. -_-

Here's my choices.

1 - Unfortunately, Squall. I'd send him packing if I were the leader, but the game doesn't offer you a choice, for whatever perfectly unexplained reason. Renzokuken is pretty useful though.
2 - Rinoa. Squall is this sorceress's knight, after all. It wouldn't feel right otherwise. Her limit breaks, when fully developed, are *lethal.* Plus, she's a pretty gal.
3 - Selphie, and for one reason (well, two). One, she can use Full-Cure on her limit break, not to mention the incredibly cheap and rare The End. I used Full-Cure about a million times in the last battle. Two, you know I had to go with the ladies. =P

Really, other than limit breaks, the characters are all the same for the most part. Just weapon differences. I wish their individual traits and abilites were developed a little more, and they had strengths and weaknesses. That would totally beat "GO FIND JEE-EFZ N' PWN TH3 B0SSEZ111!!!11!"

Squall, Zell, and Rinoa. Squall/Zell for spamming damage, Rinoa for I.M., or when I really wanna be cheap. Angel Wing/Meteor.

mine.... Squal, Rinoa and Zell.....They are the best party for me and the strongest

I've never beaten the game, but my first time I was on Disc 3 and I used Zell, Squall, and Rinoa. I am doing the same this time! and am on Disc 3 right now again lol. This time i'll have the motivation to beat it.

I definitely use Squall and Rinoa, as they deal the most damage and have the most damaging limit breaks (not to mention how helpful Invisible Moon is). I switch off between Zell, Selphie and Quistis as the 3rd party member (maybe I'll use Irvine next time for consistency sake, lol).

All in all, I think Zell is the most damaging because of his limit break, but as you know, it can be annoying to do.

Selphie has some of the most awesome limit breaks in the game, Full Cure is especially helpful.

Quistis is usually my 3rd party member when I'm leveling up, as Degenerator is the quickest and most pain-free way to level up when going to the Islands Closest to Heaven and Hell.

I tend to not use Irvine as the 3rd party member because is shot has limited ammo, which would mean I'd have to take time to get more and such everytime I'm spamming his limit break.

I like having Squall and Rinoa in my party for storyline reasons as much as anything, but there's a gameplay justification too. Squall has an attack that never misses and is more than capable of bringing the pain, and a properly executed Renzokuken is a thing of beauty. Rinoa is a good support character, especially in the early game when you don't have Aura and have to keep Squall in limit status, and with the highest Str and Mag in the game makes a decent striker as well. Her late game limits like Invincible Moon and Wishing Star are extremely useful. Angel Wing is a crapshoot - you can get her spamming status attacks against status-immune enemies til the cows come home, or you can have her dealing thousands of damage each round with boosted -aga spells. Of course if you do use it you have to have your third party member take over the support role.

As for the others...

Zell: I used to be quite handy at fighting games in my younger days, and it all comes back to me when it comes to using Zell's limit break. It's clearly intended to evoke that genre, and can do a hell of a lot of damage. I also like to have him in the party when it comes time to take on Seifer, just to say "who's the chicken wuss now?"

Quistis: Liked her limits ever since I saw Laser Eye come up in the early game and completely wreck whatever it was I was fighting. Eye beams are always cool. She gets some quite handy skills later on - Degenerator anyone?

Selphie: The End isn't all there is to her limit, though it's bloody useful when it does come up.
(It kills Adel without killing Rinoa because once Adel is dead the game no longer checks Rinoa's HP. In principle this is the case if you kill Adel with any area effect, but it's never usually worth the risk.)
And yes, Ultimecia herself isn't immune. Full-Cure is very handy, and even the random regular spells can come in useful on occasion. Really it's a matter of luck whether the power you want comes up in sufficient time.

Irvine: BLAMBLAMBLAM! Oh yeah. Enough said. Just make sure you've got enough ammo, and special ammo just makes things even better.

I have always gone Squall, Zell, and Irvine for every playthrough I have done for FF8. Mainly for personal reasons than anything.

Squall - Well ya do have to use him but, I prolly would use him regardless. Mainly because well his limit break with his final weapon, enough said. Plus that fact he can shoot someone in the face while slashing them in it at the same time is pretty awesome. Not to mention I love guns and swords and an all in one weapon sounds good to me. And he does appeal to me in a way, not so much now, but, when I was aroun 8-15 I was pretty similar to him. Not rely on others rather be left alone. Except unlike him some girl didn't jar me outta that oh no lol. Sports and weights got me outta that groove but I suppose that's a different storyt for a different section.

Anyway moving along to one of my favorite characters of the game.

Zell - His livliness is annoying at sometimes but, hey no everyone wants boring characters in a game. Plus his fist are his weapons and the two years i spent boxing and doing MMA kinda just appeals to me to have a guy that runs to someone with a sword and smacks em right in the face one good time. Also his X+O and Up+Down and Right+Left combos on his limit can make a fight go quickly and smoothly.

Ah last but not least my absolute favorite, playable, character..

Irvine - I like the comedic relief he adds to everything that is going on. Always tryin to hook up with Rinoa, Selphie, and Quisitis. That and when Rinoa kicked him down a set of stairs I almost died laughing at him. But that aside I quite enjoy using someone that had a nice lil gun. The limit he has, I feel, was the most fun just stock up on ammo choose your target and BANG BANG BANG. Quite loved doing that just for the hell of it on some enemies. It also helped I am a big gun lover, own several myself, so once again another character that appealed to me.

My best party would have to be Squall, Zell, and Rinoa.

I agree, I use the very same party. Admittedly, I don't choose the characters strategically; I choose them 'cause I like their personalities. Rinoa especially so, because if you have her in your party after you defeat Garden Master NORG, you get some pretty sweet moments between Squall and her.

Mine are: Squall ~> Lionheart
Irvine ~> Fast Ammo/Pulse Ammo
Selphie ~> The End (FTW!!!)

wow really? no one's a Squall, Zell, Rinoa guy? Also i would occaisionaly go for the Squall, Irvine, Rinoa combo.
I use Squall, Zell, Riona. Although Zells limit sucks if your quick you can make good use of it and Squll Has lionheart. Need I say more.

If I were picking my favourites, it would be Quistis, Squall, Irvine. They are the only characters which don't irritate me on some level.

If I were going for practicality, it would be Selphie, Squall, Zell. Their limits are the most useful, which given the nature of the junctioning system, is the only thing you can go by to choose one character over another.

Squall Zell Rinoa

Quistis was the worst in my opinion.

Squall, Zell, Irvine.
The girls epic failed.

Bit more effort in your posts please, tell us why the girls epic failed etc

Although how you can think that is beyond me, Rinoa has a higher base str stat than Squall, and Quistis has Degenerator, which makes levelling on the lislands closest to heaven/hell a cinch xD

I just didn't want to say that I don't like playing girl characters lmao.
I don't even like irvine, but I'd rather play him than a girl.
No offense to anybody, I don't even know why I'm like that.
Well I first played the game when I was young, and I hated having the girls on my team. I guess maybe that's why.

squall, zell, quistis. this party in my opinion was the most balanced. squall had a killer attack power, quistis had her useful limits, and zell was my go to guy for magic

I've always been really adamant about using Squall, Quistis and Zell. I ended up beating the game without using Degenerator even once. I don't remember how I pulled that one off. Maybe I wasn't aware of what it did. :awesome: But I always use Squall cuz I love timing his Trigger and Renzosuken, and I like Zell's Crit % chance over anyone else. It happens pretty often. And I like Quistis the most out of the girls cuz I love to beat fiends down with a whip. It's shock value to me. Like, I just whipped the monster's ass. Literally. Rinoa, Irvine, and Selphie have always been mostly neglected when I played. Idk. I just CAN'T break the habit of keeping the first three. Maybe I'm just biased. :dave:

My favorite would be Squall, Zell, and Irvine just for their limits. I like limits that keep hitting the enemy one after another. My best party was Squall, Zell, and Rinoa just for the damage output and Invincible Moon. The best leveling party, though, would be any group with Quistis. I would just keep her HP at critical and go to Island Closest to Hell and spam Degenerator.
