<Afterlife><RP>

While Alyss was enjoying the concept of her spoils, she never noticed the girl with the gun, Clarissa, get the drop on her. Before she knew what was happening, she found a gun pointed at her head and the girl looking down upon her as if she had just hit a major jackpot. From the looks of things, Clarissa was already lining up to shoot. Her finger was on the trigger and Alyss could only sit there with the oddest expression of shock, anger, and horror on her face. “What have you got there?”

It took a little while, but Alyss managed a rather meek answer. “N-nothing… go away. And s-stop pointing that at me…” While she tried to sound tough, it was rather hard for her to do so with a gun pointed at her; in the hands of someone whom had already proven themselves to be able to use it no less. Alyss did have a bat in her hand, but against the speed of a bullet she would be no match. A part of her knew she was going to die there, but another part of her wanted so badly to wipe the look off the blond girl’s face.

That should have made Cora happy. Just as she tightened the grip on her bat, something else had happened. Before she could do anything about it, the crate of food was taken away by a lady with white hair. In the commotion, Alyss stood up and got behind a wall so that Clarissa could no longer aim directly at her. However, from where she was standing for cover she could still see the woman who had stolen the crate quite well.

The crate that Alyss could hardly manage to move was being held effortlessly with one hand by the white haired woman. Without a doubt she was strong… very strong. Was this one of the Reapers? “Evening. Lafiel Gremory-Laffinty, at your service. I am a colleague of Master Gabriel which you have met at the station. While I can just allow Mistress Clarissa here to just execute Mistress Alyss, I am afraid I would prefer something different.” That answered Alyss question as to if the woman was a reaper or not.

Now that she thought about it, she was glad that she came along to interrupt what could have very well been the end of Alyss’ life. However, she was still angry by the fact that she no longer had the food. It was her food… she got there first. Why couldn’t anyone leave well enough alone? “Do not worry. I am not as sadistic as Master Gabriel. This first task is quite easy. Just fetch it… well the tickets anyway. Nanicci, a pair of demon pups please.”

Two medallions shot out of the door and were caught by two of the ugliest things Alyss had ever seen. “Oh, and Nanicci, some prepubescent shadow pawns, just to make it a bit more challenging.” Then from around the park, small black creatures spewed from the ground and started walking around. “Rest assured, these spawns are quite easily dealt with if one is careful and the pups will stay within the vicinity of the park. Although they will be separated by a fair distance as to not make it so easy. So retrieve the medallions and bring them back to me. One medallion, one sack. Happy hunting, and good luck.”

Very sheepishly, Alyss stepped around from the corner. Lafiel didn’t seem as if she was going to leave, which meant that if Clarissa had any ideas, she was going to have to wait until the Reaper left. However, this also meant that Alyss couldn’t have any of her own. She hated this entire situation. She so desperately wanted to say something to the both of them, but both of them had the upper hand. And Alyss was far from brave.

Sighing, she walked past the both of them with her bat in tow and headed to the park. She could see one of the dogs, but it was surrounded by the Shadow Spawns. They didn’t look too tough, but there was quite a lot of them… Without waiting for them to attack her, she quickly ran towards them and started swinging her bat at them. In just a few swings, she took out two of them. Yet being as small as she was, she was already somewhat tired even from the most menial amount of effort.

As she kept trying to force her way through a group of them, they kept coming at her and attacking. However, Alyss kept swinging the bat. She wanted that food. She wanted to show Clarissa that she wasn’t better than her. No one was. She wanted nothing more than to wipe that stupid grin off of Clarissa’s face. Alyss hated her more than anything right now. “I will show her…” she muttered under her breath as she continued swinging at more of the spawns.

(OOC: yea Tipsy you're doing perfect as a reaper! Just remember that Nanicci is peppy and can see everything that happens during the games. Other than that go ahead!)

Clarissa Montague

"Tch!" A white haired woman appeared from out of nowhere causing Clarissa's upper hand in the confrontation of this girl to fizzle. "Hey! What is the meaning of this?!" Clarissa spoke angrily as she saw the mysterious white haired intruder swoop in and steal the crate she was about to take herself.

Evening. Lafiel Gremory-Laffinty, at your service. I am a colleague of Master Gabriel which you have met at the station. While i can just allow Mistress Clarissa here to just execute Mistress Alyss, I am afraid i would prefer something different.

"So Miss reaper. What's next?" Clarissa responded taking her pistol once more and pointing it at Alyss just in case the girl would try to kill her.

Do not worry. I am not as sadistic as Master Gabriel. This first task is quite easy. Just fetch it... well the tickets anyway. Nanicci, A pair of demon pups please.

"Anita! What are those things!" Clarissa asked as she saw the creatures this reaper woman had summoned before her.

"It appears to be demons boro-boro!" her angel responded.

They were hideous, vicious looking beasts. Her heart began to sink until she remembered what she was fighting for. Clarissa steadied her pistol at the creatures waiting for them.

Oh, and Nanicci, some prepubescent shadow spawns, just to make it a bit more challenging.

Clarissa didn't bat not one eyelash as the next round of demons spawned before her.

Rest assured, these spawns are easily dealt with if one is careful and the pups will stay within the vicinity of the park. Although they will be separated by a fair distance as to not make it so easy. So retrieve the medallions and bring them back to me. One medallion, one sack. Happy hunting, and good luck.

The redheaded girl went out to fight the demons first. Clarissa trained her pistol to the dark creatures outside. "So the point of this is to kill a few demons eh? My you are a challenging reaper." Clarissa mocked before leaving Lafiel to fight.

Clarissa did not care about anything but her share of food. If she wanted to stay sane and alert she would have to get some food in her. She already contained an unknown fear that she was eating for two. One shot at point blank range was all it took for a shadowy creature to die. Another shot from a few feet blew a demon pup to bits.

Clarissa had to admit, her handling of this pistol was becoming easier with more and more targets to kill. She shot one creature after another that had come within a few meters, each successful kill urging her to try for farther distances. Before long she began to take care of demon creatures that came for Alyss. Clarissa couldn't tell whether it was her determination or her enjoyment of killing that made her put away these demons with ease. "I'll give you a portion of my food if I win." Clarissa offered Alyss.

She was ready to make her rounds with her plan. Planning and strategical decisions under harsh conditions, that's one skill she was glad she took up when studying piloting and warfare. "You'll also have my word of not killing you." Clarissa spoke sweetening her deal as she took out another demonic spawn. "But you will have to promise not to kill me in return hun."

Gabriel

"Ok you bastard, you never mentioned anything about those things coming after us."

Gabriel couldn't believe what he was hearing. he knew that he was not a 'bastard'. He simply followed the orders of the almighty. The angel decided that he would show this man insults would get him nowhere. "This is a competition. Would you rather I give you a loli instead?" Gabriel spoke calmly. "Tell you what. I'll donate this sack of food to another player who could use it."

With that the first sack of food disappeared from his own hand. However a lolipop with the name branded "Dumdum root-beer flavor" on the wrapper appeared in it's place. "Here you are. Suck on this." Gabriel spoke in his same calming tone, wearing his expressionless face.

The angel now used his microphone yet again. "Only one sack of food remains. This can be split between the next two players to reach me. Time is running out." Gabriel spoke standing like a statue.

~~~~~~
Damien Peers
"What's this?" Damien mumbled his hand feeling around within a sack which had just appeared.
His sight had returned to him from the moment he heard the gunshot and the games started. Upon hearing the announcement of food he had been tailing one female in particular who had caught his eye. Yet it seemed that she had already entered the hospital building while he stood a few blocks away near a rickety old building. Damien remembered the games, how they worked. he remembered the cruelties he had gone through when he was only twelve years of age.
Damien accepted the offering of food and left to return to the slums. he had his fill of food for now. The man in black strode away fast, not looking back at his fellow players who were in certain danger.
Xavier sat up sharply as the concussion of the blast that destroyed the bridge reverberated through the area. "God .... damnit." He didn't know what bothered him more, the fact that his vantage point's efficiency was now cut in half, or that this little whelp had some sort of unbelievable power.
Powers.
The word sparked a flicker in his memory about what he read in the rules of the game. Taking out his phone, he scanned through the rules again, and saw that he, too, had a power. He made a mental note to ask his Angel about this power in the future. For now, he needed to change his vector. He had seen the other girl enter the Hospital commons, and had heard Gabriel's speech. And of course he had seen the influx of demons into the grounds. Considering all these things, the hospital room was less than optimal.
X slowly rose, walked over to the door, shut it, and locked it behind him. He went to the supply closet in the room and began rummaging through, looking for anything that could be used as a weapon. He grabbed a box of syringes, then unscrewed the head of a push broom from the body, creating a makeshift polearm. Walking back over to the window, he opened it and popped out screen. Stepping out on to the windowsill, he took a slight leap and fell.
The fire escape was only ten feet below the open window, conveniently. And from this side of the Hospital, he was around the corner from the demons. Or so he thought. His phone chirped softly and at the same moment, he caught a scent on the breeze. A familiar acrid scent. Looking up, he saw the imp demon preparing to leap down on top of him. As it did, X swung his Broomstick of Doom up, bashing the imp in the face and flinging down to the ground 25 feet below. The demon evaporated into nothingness.
X scampered down the fire escape and made his way towards one of the remaining bridges.
Marin still had her phone raised in defence, almost as if waiting for some sort of miracle to come shooting out of it and attack the intruder. “What do you think you’re doing?” Clearly nothing would come.
The stranger did what she could to help, given the air of apprehension between them. It was a dangerous situation for both of them to be caught like this, even moreso when the both of them were afraid as they were. She’d locked the door behind her, spoke a few words, and then broke out into a run, dragging along Marin with her. Before she had much time to register the situation, she was being dragged along with this stranger.. to her death? Possibly.
“Is it really smart to go where other people are? What if they kill us, what if they’re stronger?” Marin could only asked as she tried to keep up with the girl whose fear seemed to take her far through the hospital.
Ryu answered for her. “It’s not. The people upstairs? Stronger than you. Well, they’re outside now. They’re going to get the food before you.”
“Damn.” Cursing her phone, she gripped it tighter, and tried to call out to her saviour, trapper? “Wait! Everybody’s already outside!” Marin didn’t know who this girl had seen inside the hospital, the two upstairs had already gone out to confront some demons, and the lone man who had secluded himself that nobody knew of, also was already outside. That left the two of them dashing about in the empty building like frightened mice. But she still wasn’t listening, she was still running. “WAIT!”
Marin reached out with her free arm, grabbing the ledge of a wall on a corner as tight as she could given the speed, but it was enough to jerk Sarah out of her frightened haze, long enough for them to stop and talk. “Everyone’s already outside.” She paused, a few demonic screams audible beyond the walls as an imp had been impaled by a spear of sorts. “Maybe we should go outside. If they get the food before us, then we’ll starve.”
“You can’t starve if you’re already dead.” Always the rainbow after a storm.
(OOC: Damnit school. D:)
<kiresta>
Kiresta quickly nodded at Ryu's words. She was tense, and scared. and her damn phone kept ringing
Backing back into the room she Quickly opend the phone.
"Tee-hee Master! You got a message!" Reading the text, her blood ran cold. She started shaking, her palms started sweating.
..."i..must kill..Ryu..?" She stated. The question coming out in short bursts. "Or..Cece..Will die?" She finished.
"Tee-hee you got a message from the almighty! wow...It seems you must kill Ryu Master! Or Cece will..die. Master.." MAru trailed off.
"Just tell him I'll do it. I'll find some way. just tell him to leave Cece alone!" Kiresta quickly shut off her phone, Tears gathered at her eyes and she looked out the door, Ryu was standing there searching for the demons. Kiresta closed her eyes and leaned against the wall beside the door. out of his sight.
She concentrated. She concentrated so hard she thought she wasn't breathing. She imagined Him getting Drowsy, Really drowsy. Him staggering over in confusion at the sudden stamina loss. She saw him getting sleepy and asking for a break. She saw herself bash his skull in, Effectively stabbing his brain.
"I'm sorry..." She whispered. The bastard probably had Kids. Kids who would be without a father.
"Maru..USe your powers. Make him drowsy..Please.."Breathing in she wiped her eyes and stood up.
.."Please understand Ryu." She whispered to herself before walking up beside him Standing vigilante and quiet. She wasn't going to attack him.
Yet.
(OOC: DD: Why almighty! WHYYY! D:: )
Kiresta walked outside with Ryu, and was met with a Giant Demon. Freezing on the spot. She Grasped her Rock Sack and quickly slammed it down on the Things Bastard head. After a few combination attacks the Bitch went down.
"Thank...God.." She said. Yet the Drowsy spell didn't seem to be working? Did she do it properly?
Then she heard some more.
Fuck. This. Shit.
(OOC: DD: Why almighty! WHYYY! D:: )
(OOC: lol. The lord is a cruel lord. XD. Also. TTT Give meh da epic Broom of Doom. XD)
Ryu Matsuri.
Oh Ryu was pissed. Hell pissed was putting it lightly. But he also knew when to hold back. And he did when the Gabriel decided to mock him with the lollipop. He then saw Kiresta there with tears. It was then that he started to feel slightly drowsy. He knew what had happen even before words were spoken as he looked at the woman.
"I see how it is." Ryu muttered as he gave himself a quick punch to the cheek, pain being a solution to drowsiness before jumping away from Kiresta.
"I honestly wish we could have gotten out of this game without going at each other's throats. The alliance would have been the safest bet. But it seems I can't stop you from making your choice. You played your cards. Now I'll play mine. Jenna, let's get this dirty work over with. I'm suddenly not in the mood for food now." Ryu muttered as he grabbed his trash can lid. He pointed his hand at Kiresta and several ice spikes formed before firing them towards Kiresta.
<Kiresta>
"I'm sorry. But they'll kill my sister..." Kiresta dodged back inside the hospital allowing the Ice spikes to impact the Wall. Kiresta bolted around the first floor allowing Ryu to chase her. She jumped the stairs two at a time and Asked MAru to Keep him Drowsy.
"i'm sorry,Ryu. i'm sorry. Kiresta repeated. Cracking her knuckles she closed a Door and Hid beside the Wall should he Come in She would Slam the Rocks in his face. He can spike all he likes but She'll kill him. for Cece.
"If i die now, I hope you get out alive Ryu." she whispered.
(OOC: I'm going to try to keep Kiresta alive, even if it means Cece dying.. D: I'm greedy. XD
i won't God mod though..)
Ryu Matsuri
He saw the spikes miss as Kiresta ran back into the hospital. Giving chase, Ryu managed to keep up with her until she turned the corner and ducked into a room. The police officer put the trash can shield up near his face as he had an idea.
"Considering that she has a melee weapon, it'll be unwise to enter first. Hmmm." Ryu thought as he formed five ice spikes at least three feet long.
He then had to guess with portion of the wall to shoot at, he took two steps away from the door and shot the five spikes into the wall, hoping for some sort of injury before turn toward the door and braced himself for the attack.
(OOC: Last post before two more people post)
Kiresta Breathed silently. Panic enducing her. he was stronger. and had a shield.
He had a shield.
shit.
Now she was confused Her meelee Weapon was useless now. and he would probably detect any other bashes to his body. God damnit.
"Make him Drowsy. Make him Drowsy" She all but gasped into the phone. Maru was quick to respond. "I'm trying master! You can do it"
Suddenly Ice spikes peices the walls. One peirce the door. the other the wall. One of them nicked her in the side. It took off a bit of skin. Yet it was only bleeding slightly. so it was of no consequence.
Pulling the Spike out of the wall. She held it tightly and examined it. It was sharp and could probably stab someone easily.Perfect!
Pulling the Spike out of the door. She flipped it around and Shoved it through the door again. only lower. Hopefully. It got him in the pancreas or whatever. Taking the other spike she Raised the Rock Sack.
The blow from the Rock Sack would either Disarm him, our Stagger him. The spike would stab him either in the neck,Head. or Heart.
It's go time.
OOC: Oli, there are only two pups, and they carry the food medallion and had bolted off already. The heartless are just shadow spawns.
Lafiel Gremory-Laffinty
You know where to find me
"So the point of this is to kill a few demons eh? My you are a challenging reaper."
Rather than rising to the jab, Lafiel took it for face value and answered humbly. It was the most effective method when dealing with rather unpleasant conversation. Without even a change in her face nor her tone, she replied to Clarissa.
I had intended for it not to be difficult. I apologise if that is not the case.
Both Alyss and Clarissa then went about to hunt for the pups. Rather than stay at the dingy building, Lafiel went back to the fountain to take back her old seat, up on the unicorn. From her perch, the two were already begiing to dismantle the spawns. Alys, however, seemed to be having a bit more difficulty than Clarissa.
Madam Lafiel! That girl is rude! Do you want me to spawn some imps or some skeletons? Just to teach her a lesson?
It is ok Nanicci. It'll get harder when the time comes, but i had wanted them to settle a bit first...
Ma'am, you know you should be a bit more like Sir Gabriel. So far, only a handful has ever been slightly grateful. If it was me, i'd summon some Draugr's to pounce that Clarissa.
A rather menacing chuckle came through the earpiece which made Lafiel give a worried chuckle.
Its great to see you have not changed at all. Still as peppy as always Nanicci.
Sarah Wisely
“Wait! Everybody’s already outside! WAIT!”
Somehow, the girl managed to gain a sort of strength to pull her back from her frenzied run. Although horrified and desperate to seek help, Sarah could only stop and urge her to run. "W-we must hurry," she pleads, and was about to break back into a run when the girl spoke.
“Everyone’s already outside.”
Those words shook her back into reality. So the help that she had been running for had already left the hospital somehow. If anything, this was making her feel all the more fearful. Screams from outside the hospital only served to make her feel even more afraid.
“Maybe we should go outside. If they get the food before us, then we’ll starve.”
Then Sarah remembered Gabriel's words. She hadn't been paying that much attention, considering her confrontation with this brown-haired girl at the point in time. Looking at the girl before her, Sarah could only marvel at her composure. How does she stay so calm considering this state of events?
"How do we get out then?" Sarah asked.
Ryu Matsuri
Ryu saw one of his ice spikes being pulled out and shoved back towards him, clipping him on his right leg lightly. Ignoring the pain for the time being, He braced for Kiresta's attack and blocked the rock attack, knocking his shield away from him. He then saw Kiresta coming in with another one of his ice spikes. With no time to think, Ryu reached out and grabbed the wrist of the hand with the ice spike. Ryu then ripped the ice spike out of her hand. With the ice spike in his hand, Ryu kneed her once into her gut before striking the ice spike in the general location of her heart as seen from the front.
"I'm sorry." Ryu muttered unsure if the attack landed or not as he jumped backward to keep out of range of any melee attack should have been made.
(OOC: Dude what? Kiresta didn't even attack after jabbing the spike)
<Kiresta>
She was knocked fully to the ground from a punch to the gut She flailed backwards and kicked her feet up to the kick Ryu. Yet, she saw Ryu Raise the the ice spike and jab it at her heart.
And that was the biggest mistake ever. She wasn't exactly sure what happened But she Freaked. She just went Wild. If her Reaction was similarily closest to a Caged animal. She went flailing kicking twisting. she managed to get a boot up by her chest in her Flailing and panic. she was just kicking out at him and the spike. She'll take a weak foot over Death anyday. She tried to deflect the spike with the foot. She flalied at it and gasped as she felt her Back cramp at the sudden rush of adrenaline. her foot was pushed off course. The spike Hit her foot at an angel causing it to spin out of control. It spun past her slicing her hard in the shoulder. While it didn't peirce her shoulder. It did leave a Moderately sized wound. It could of probably went through her shoulder if It was turned the right way. Blood slowly started to build at thee wound and she gasped. The pain while bearable was surpirizing. Kiresta herself hadn't expect the Spining spike to deal much damage.
staggering up all concious thought left her and she lunged at him like a Rabid animal. She was didn't care about anything. But cece was going to survive. and if she had to use guerilla tacticts Then god damn it she would!
The lunged at him with all her strength smashing him witht he Weapons and her fists The bastard was going to die.
Screw his Family. Screw everything he had. He. Was. going. To. Die.
Kiresta Fisted Her Weapon and went wild. She kept Smashing and Smashing. She didn't know if she was Dealing damage or just inconvenincing him. But Cece was going to live.
Kiresta couldn't measure how much time had passed. She was still smashing. The bastard better be dead. Raining down one more slam she Satggered off. Weather it was because he was still alive and he kciked her off, Which she sorely hoped he wasn't.. Or because she was just to dizzy. She quickly staggered out of the room bouncing off the walls and down and out. of the hospital.
"The Bastard better be Dead!" She shouted to herself. "please Cece...don't..Die.." She whimpered
(MAJOR OOC NOTE: Now, I tried my best not too come off as god modding. I purposefully left my post ambiguous to the Damage Ryu took. He couldv'e had his skull bashed in and died.. Or he couldve broken A Wrist or a Leg or maybe just got some severe cuts. i left the Damage up to you to assess. If you feel that I god modded, I'll re engage you with a battle and we can have a fairer fight. Or If oli/Tipsy decides that i godmodded.
As to how she dodge the Spike, She was twisting and struggling even when you socked her one. she twisted her self backwards onto the ground. and put her feet up. As It said in the post.
i also left you open to inflict some small damage inbetween blows during my post. so you can still take some Action.
Or something.)
(OOC: Ah. From what I saw it kinda looked like you were attacking. We can cut that to me misunderstanding the post. In any case.)
One second, Ryu was about to stab her. The next second, Ryu nearly had his ass handed to him due to the unexpected explosive energy that ran through her. Most of her punches were a little on the weak side. But it still hurt like hell. Ryu waited it out as the punches came until she was finished, which then from what he could tell, she got up and left. Getting into a sitting position, Ryu gingerly touched the spots that Kiresta punched him, a good portion of it was bruised and a few were bleeding as well, not to mentioned that there was a few good cuts on his arms that would require sewing together.
"That's going to sting a bit." Ryu muttered as he got up to his feet and slowly made his way into an empty room, looking for supplies to stop the bleeding. One thing was certain, he was not about to get into any fights for the time being.
Marin had no idea where they were now. Despite the small size of the haunted hospital, it still acted as the perfect maze to confuse the little mice. One they were stopped, she glanced around. She was right.. What do they do now?
“I don’t know...” It wasn’t like the hospital was particularly confusing to them in any way; if they were desperate enough they could go into any room and jump out a window. But in her frenzied panic, Sarah had taken them God knows where, and Marin was just along for the ride.
“Hey.” The muffled voice called to her, his image wavering on the screen. “What do you want now?!” She was more than a little irritated with him. Of all the Angels, she had to pick the one that would give up and just want her dead. “It’s not like it matters, but you can try working together.” She lifted her phone, a sense of motivation washing over her for a brief moment. “But it won’t last long, one of you will end up killing the other in the end.” He paused, just to stab them in the gut once more. “If the others don’t kill you first.”
She sighed and switched her phone off, tucking it into her pocket. She was tired of his voice. Very little did he actually provide anything useful for her. But maybe he had something. That first part, anyway.
“What do you think?” Looking to the girl, her face still stricken with fear and confusion, Marin did her best to reason with her, bargaining as she would with any other frightened animal. “Maybe we can work with each other, try and get us out of this... together.” Together. Seemed like a forlorn sentiment in some ill-gotten fairytale. They always make it out together.
Maybe it wasn’t so farfetched though.
Before they had much time to debate the issue, sounds erupted behind them; a loud raucous, crashing, screams, maybe death? Those who had gone to fetch the sack of food had somehow gotten themselves in an internal scuffle, fighting in the lobby area where Marin and Sarah had just fled. She definitely didn’t want to see how that would turn out, and judging by the sweat on Sarah’s brow, neither did she.
“On second thought, maybe we should keep going.” This time, she took Sarah by the hand and continued to dash down the hall, searching for another hall or door that would take them outside. Suddenly their haven was just as dangerous outside. It was a coin-flip as to which was the preferable setting.
Sarah Wisely
Judging by the tone, it seemed the brown-haired girl was on friendly terms with her angel. Sarah would have laughed if the situation were less severe.
“What do you think? Maybe we can work with each other, try and get us out of this... together.”
Sarah was innately hesitant. Just moments ago, a man was killed in cold blood by a woman. The game apparently allows for only one survivor, meaning that she would ultimately stab Sarah in the back. Can she truly be trusted - that was the main question. Still, it seemed better to join hands than to die alone. Even if she were to be betrayed, maybe a swift kill would leave her clueless to her fate.
"I--"
Before Sarah could respond, loud sounds of fighting erupted behind the two. It seemed that whoever had been inside the hospital earlier than themselves had started fighting among themselves. The sound seemed to have came from the lobby where Sarah and this brown-haired girl had just left. Sarah almost smiled, realizing their luck. Then she realized she didn't know this girl's name.
“On second thought, maybe we should keep going.”
As she said that, she grabbed Sarah's hand and pulled her along. The feeling of another human touch, stranger or not, is always comforting in a situation like this. Who knows when this warm hand would go cold with death? Sarah pushed the thought aside as she followed after the girl.
"I'm Sarah, by the way."
Marin hadn’t been able to pull fit the pieces of the puzzle together, that through two prizes, life could be achieved for two individuals. She was optimistic that two people, in spite of the points system, could make it out together; old fashioned team work, surviving through the other sacrifices and all that.
After they’d already booked it, Marin had glanced at the girl, her free flowing blonde hair caught up behind her as her grey blue eyes searched Marin’s for some sort of familiarity, looking for safety? Marin hated how this game had taken all of them; some of them, by the sounds of war going on around them, deserved to be here, were backstabbers by nature and deserved to die. Marin liked to think she didn’t deserve to be here, that it was all a mistake and she had taken the wrong train. And then there were people like Sarah who were unfortunate causalities; always at the wrong place at the wrong time.
“Sarah....I’m Marin.” It was all she could say as they kept running, her hand squeezing Sarah’s for a reassuring moment.
If it came to it, she wasn’t sure how she would have to kill Sarah. She wouldn’t want to; well, really she wouldn’t want to kill anyone. She’d rather not to. If it were at all possible, they could have hidden somewhere, let everyone else pick off each other one by one. Would that be right? No, it’d be a coward’s way out. She wasn’t one for pride but she’d rather leave with her life with some sort of self satisfaction. And she'd rather help this young girl out, who appeared no different than herself.
They’d come to the West Wing of the hospital, an empty hall to their right with double doors leading out of the Emergency Ambulance entrance. There was their way out, whether or not they would survive much longer beyond that was a whole other story.
She stopped with Sarah at the end of the hall, taking a moment to collect themselves before leaving what ounce of safety they had. “Sarah... Your Angel, your phone? What can you do with it?”
Sarah Wisely
So the brown-haired girl was named Marin. She seemed trustworthy enough, at least for the time being. Yet whether or not she truly was trustworthy wasn't the main issue to Sarah, for the latter would prefer a companion to loneliness. All the horror movies could never prepare her for this game of survival. Hell, it never did prepare her mentally to face this situation.
The two continued on their way further from the sounds of fighting and into the West Wing of the Hospital. As they walked, Sarah couldn't help recalling the scenes from the movie Silent Hill. She was instantly glad that she had someone around. Considering the nature of events occurring around here, she wouldn't be too shocked to see some kind of monster nurses approaching them.
The West Wing, like almost the rest of the hospital, was void of people. There were no signs of people having came here prior to their arrival, nor were there any medical tools that they could use. The game organizers had been particularly thorough with their work.
The two stopped at the end of the West Wing. A quick glance easily highlighted their best route of escape - the Emergency Ambulance entrance. Marin stopped here, allowing the two to calm down before moving on. Although it may not be a clever decision to stay put in an area so close to some hostile individuals, Sarah needed this time to recompose herself. For almost the entire time since she escaped the train station, she was at the edge of mental insanity.
Thankfully for her, there hadn't been anything too extreme happening... yet.
“Sarah... Your Angel, your phone? What can you do with it?”
Here comes the turning point. Sarah was at once on alert. Telling Marin about her Angel's ability could lead the girl to take precautions. At the same time, it could earn her trust. Either way, it makes betrayal so much easier for Marin. Sarah was visibly hesitant, but by the time she realized that, she figured there was no point trying to hide it.
Pulling out her phone, she clicked on the abilities tab and showed Marin.
"So far, this ability appears to be the only one I have. 'Soaking Shield'. My Angel said that it's some kind of protective shield that works on most physical attacks."
That was it; now Marin knows her ability.
"I suppose we should move on. I can cover you with the shield. The longer we stay here, the scarier it feels. And then there's the problem of food."
Marin leaned forward and glanced at the girl’s screen, her passive ability possibly proving to be a use to them in the long run. With her own magic attack by using fire, the two of them would make the perfect long range team.
This caused the corners of her mouth to lift in a smile for the first time in this hell hole.
“That could work.” She picked up her phone to double check her own abilities as Ryu was never that useful to her with his help. If Sarah was trustworthy enough to guard Marin, then maybe from a distance she’d be able to set fire to the few small demons that would cross their paths, and if needed, anyone else too. Her one ability was as such, to conjure up a small stream of fire from her hands. Perfect for long range.
Now it only hinged on their trust.
Marin lowered her phone, looking Sarah in the eyes. If the two frightened girls had any chance of survival, it was probably best to put down their defences when together. “Sarah. I don’t want to die here, and I know that you don’t either... but I think that if we stick together, we can pull through it.” She smiled again and reached forward, taking one of Sarah’s hands in her own. “I trust you, and I hope you trust me too. I’ll do what I can to protect you and to take us as far in the game as we can go together, if you’ll do the same.” This was it; she was laying out her cards on the table for a pact, for, what was it? Girl Power?
“My ability gives me fire. I think it’ll be enough to fight off... whatever demons are out there, as long as you have my back. Then once they’re gone, we’ll have rights to the food. I think we can make a good team.” Marin was putting an immense amount of faith in this girl now as she left herself vulnerable; offering a treaty in exchange for safety, when either one of them could turn. She’d hoped it wouldn’t come to that.
(Thats it for tonight.. others need to get it in too, anyway.)
Ryu Matsuri
After patching himself up as best as he can, Ryu left the hospital room and headed straight for the supply closest. Opening it up, Ryu found mainly janitor material that can keep the hospital clean. His eyes soon ran over to a set of brooms. It looked like someone got to the closest first since there was a a bit of a mess in the closest. Grabbing one of the brooms, Ryu saw that the broom he grabed was detachable near the broom head
"Hmm. A makeshift staff eh." Ryu muttered looking at the broom.
He took off the broom head as his phone rang.He picked up the phone to speak with Jenna as he walked in a random direction, unknowingly leading him to another two girls.
Jenna: Ryu bro, are you still alive?
Ryu: Don't write me off as dead yet.
Jenna: That's cool homie. But we failed to kill her.
Ryu: I know. I have a feeling though that she might have been put in the same situation as us.
Jenna: You think homie?
Ryu: *sigh*Who knows. Right now, we need to get out of here and keep hidden for the time being. That and a new alliance. Once Kiresta finds out I'm alive, she'll be after me for no other reason then blood.
Jenna: Got it. I'll see if there's anyone close to us.
Ryu: Got it.
Jenna: One more thing Homie.
Ryu (as he steps out into the hearing/sight range of the two girls.) Yes?
Jenna: I'm cool with the fact that you're still alive.
Ryu: Live to fight another day eh. Thanks.
Ryu hung up and pocketed the phone. He then turned to see the two girls there as he froze like a dear in the headlights at the insurmountable odds of being found by two more people.
