<Afterlife><RP>

(OOC: It kind of shocks me how fast Kiresta crossed the bridge from the hospital district only to end up in the park in little to no time at all :P. I'll speed up the time a bit and pretend Alyss and Clarissa were fighting demons for a bit :hmmm: Also I gave Clarissa a medal since she killed a bunch of shadow spawns and I think a pup.)

Day 1 - 4:30pm

Clarissa Montague

Clarissa stood holding a medal in her tightened fist. Her pistol never left the newcomer to these games. she wasn't sure if the odd brown haired girl even saw her standing there as the demons ran amok. After seeing her potential ally run away in terror Clarissa gave in a frustrated grunt. yes, this girl would have to make it to the end of Clarissa stood any chance in living.

Her strategy was simple. Eliminate the strongest first, create obstacles for the players, and ensure only the weakest survive in the end. She as fighting for the future of two. She had no choice but to eliminate all others on the beaten path.

She followed the brown haired girl quietly. "Ah-ah-ah my dear." Clarissa spoke softly stepping over a dead demon pup.

Her right arm was outstretched with her pistol ready to shoot. "See?" she looked at the red headed girl whom she knew to be called Alyss from the database. "I have your back."

Clarissa moved next to the brown haired girl called Kiresta, her pistol still readily aimed toward the stranger. "Why you are a very pretty young lady." Clarissa studied. "Well we all are really. We all have our youth after all-well had for the most part."

She paused a moment before gazing at Alyss. "You want more points young lady? Here they are. You need to survive! It's either her or you! Choose to fight for your survival Alyss!" Clarissa spoke aiming her pistol at the strange brunette and being careful to manage her time.

~~~~~~
Tia Wang
"Luci? Luci!"
The young korean girl walked around the opening in the hospital district speaking the name of her only partner who seemed to have vanished. The small girl was lost, however munching on the loaf of bread she received from Luci earlier had eased the pains in her side. Wherever Luci had gone Tia was sure she could survive alone by the loaf of bread she carried.
"Luci?" the small girl called out as she turned a corner.
The small girl froze instantly upon seeing two strange girls. It seemed these females had already made a pact. Without a word Tia glanced at her angel. "난 그녀가 곧 나타날 거라고 확신!" it chimed to her.
"나는 그때까지 공짜 포인트를 얻을 것이다." Tia responded taking out a bottle of purple liquid.
"행운을 빕니다!" her angel responded.
Tia drank a good amount of the purple liquid. What happened to her form would frighten anyone who had seen. It looked as if the girls spine had snapped in two. Her bones twisted and grew until the girl was a tremendous twelve feet tall. Her skin became scaly and black and her face twisted and distorted into that of a beast. Her mouth seemed to twist into a permanent O shape which etched a frightening appearance upon her already ghastly face. The newly transformed Tia now only had eyes for her two targets. With this anger she ran screaming in an earsplitting tone with bony razor sharp claws for fingers ready to rip the flesh from Marin and Sarah's bones.
Luci Ferno & Romeo Willis
"Ick! Like, get away!"
"Hey yo! Share somma that!" Romeo yelled chasing his target through the streets of the abandoned city.
From the looks of it they were heading toward the slums. "I said no! Like, go hunt someone else!" Luci was panicked.
This man had mined an entire area! She however had managed to run fast enough to not be blown sky high by the large explosions that seemed to destroy anything within a ten meter radius of its blast. "Eeeek!" she shrieked as debris from a nearby explosion flew toward her.
The skinny, poorly dressed girl was not used to this at all. She wanted nothing but to visit the salons in California, to chat up the guys by the beach once more. But those days were gone. Now she was stuck running away from a lunatic who could kill her at any moment. "All I want is a piece of bread you bitch!" Romeo shouted running after her and gaining on her.
"No! This has to last me! Eeeek!" She ran through an alley littered with nothing but mold, dust and broken gravel.
Romeo followed hot on her heels. "Get away!"
Romeo tackled the girl from behind but she kicked and struggled violently. "Get away!"
Use me! Hurry! shouted her angel.
"I just want a piece!" Romeo spoke attempting to wrestle a loaf of bread from the sack she tightly held.
"Eeek! Like someone help!"
Within a few seconds a nasty creature of a demon came and caught Romeos torso between it's jaws. It resembled a wolf but Romeo couldn't tell as the shocked expression he wore only lasted a second before the creature chomped down. The alleyway splattered with his blood and the demon seemed to fade away. Luci stood up, covered in the crimson liquid herself. "It like, totally worked!" she cheered excitedly upon seeing the mans torso ripped and divided into three sections within a pool of blood.
Yea babe! You rocked the stupid helpless act. cheered her angel.
"Like I was totally about to become his Juliet. Too bad he's dead now."
Maybe the stupid thing wasn't an act... her angel commented.
Romeo Willis never got to make his transaction. So with his own existence wiped out his own gang had become caught by the authorities. The crime lord of the city however escaped the grasp of the authorities only to begin his viscous dealings of drugs out in another country, making millions from the process.
(OOC: the time it took to get Kiresta from the hospital to the park was quite a long time. Maybe a post didn't capture it well, but it was)
<Kiresta>
kiresta's boots padded the ground as she ran after the girl. The girl seemed weakened. was she attacked? Was he injured by that dog? what was the answer?
kiresta watched as the girl slowly ground to a halt and fell to the ground her breaths laboured and her posture utterly defeated. the bat she was carrying rolled sideways onto the ground. A bat Yes! She could use that! but first, Alliances.
Hurrying over, panting slightly she caught up with the girl. Leaning over she put on a cocky half-smile and stuck out a hand. foot resting unknowingly on the bat.
"...hey there!" she said.
"...May I ask..who you are?"
She waited for the girl's reply. But then, her phone beeped.
"Master! Tee-hee! Oh master it looks like we're in a bit of a pickle now! You can use me to escape! Don't worry master I have faith in you! Tee-hee!" Maru said.
A Pickle? what's going on? Looking around Kiresta saw nothing...yet she was hearing some noises.
Marin glance to Sarah who was just as uncertain as she was, her phone chiming which caused her to pick it up. Ryu was speaking to her, “It looks like we were too slow to get those food drops huh? Looks like you might starve to death instead of murder then...Oh...And yea you've got mail...” She answered, listening to the text closely. An addendum warned her of something, and her eyes shifted towards Sarah; how could they keep secrets when they were trying so desperately to trust one another? She had no other choice.
She sighed and lowered the phone, the latter half of Ryu’s own voice fading a bit as she lost her focus. So that was it. Could she do it though? For her? For them? Maybe for Sarah. She shot Sarah a weak smile as if to say everything was all right, when in fact the opposite couldn’t be more true.
“Well, it looks like our food’s gone... What we’ll do next, I don’t..” She was cut short when another made themselves known to the two girls.
Coming out from the distance was a small girl, the little Korean child from the train, probably the only one more innocent than Sarah herself involved in this mess. Was it her?
Marin couldn’t believe her rotten luck. But before she had much time to mull it over, the small child drank a small potion and her body manifested itself into a beast easily twice their size and ten times as frightening as her former appearance. Marin bit her lip and shifted her footing in the dirt, getting a grip for the earth as she stood her ground. Maybe it would be a little easier than it sounded.
"Looks like you've met your match. seriously though that thing looks hideously powerful. It's a shame your journey ends here." He still wasn't the least bit enthusiastic for her.
She quickly shot Sarah a look to her side. “Do you trust me?” Now was do or die. They had to believe in one another; the power of friendship and all that sugary rainbows. “Do you have my back?” Without waiting for an answer, her hands shot out, a quick burst of flame soaring from her palms towards the demonic child. It staggered once, and she tried again, this time letting the magic flow through her a little longer allowing for a stronger stream of fire as it assaulted the other player.
Sarah Wisely
Trust? In a place like this, such a word stood out like a sore thumb. Or maybe a glimmer of hope. Whatever. Sarah could live with that. If it was trust Marin wanted, it is what she will get. After all, she calls the shots. One wrong move, bam, and fine Sarah would be burnt Sarah. That's all Sarah could think at this juncture. Marin's actions thus far had been promising, but nothing concrete really existed. No, not that smile, Sarah could see past the faint level of authenticity. It wasn't real. What will be real is what happens after this. Looking at the girl's awful transformation, Sarah realized this could be death's reckoning.
Her phone had been ringing the whole time, but Sarah knew now what it was about. Death's reckoning. That's what. “Do you trust me?” Says the brown-haired girl. No was the honest and concise response but Sarah couldn't give that now, could she? Flames had already engulfed Marin's hands as she posed that question.
"Y-y-yes."
The lies first, and the truth later.
“Do you have my back?” Asks the girl, to which Sarah replied, as dishonest as ever,"Yes." Now, to be fair, dishonest as those words may be, Sarah she did not intend for any sort of backstabbing or anything succinctly close to that.
The fire spoke over the exchange, coercing Sarah into submission. This was do or die. The monster the child turned into appears to be heavily reliant on melee attacks, which made Sarah the best shield in this battle. Perhaps she would still be safe for the time being, until she outlast her use. Perhaps, until it was truly necessary for her to die to end this dreaded game. As Marin prepared for a stronger burst of flames, Sarah inched closer to the girl as an anxious child would with her mother. Unlike Marin's ability, Sarah's ability was invisible, which made it harder to tell if it was really working. Which would also make calling her angel a good move if not for the monstrosity before them.
"D-don't rely too much on my abilities. I don't even know if it works."
Why couldn't she have picked a better phone? Something that was more offensive would at least allow her a stronger sense of security which she so sorely lacked. Perhaps with something stronger, her hands wouldn't tremble as much as it did now. Can Marin really be trusted? The thought was driving her mad, but the answer won't leave Sarah waiting for too long.
Damien Peers
The man walked opening his eyes wide. For years he had been blind, completely oblivious to the sights of the world around him. It was now that he remembered how small he was, how young he was before he lost his sight. All because of a car accident and his own cowardly participation in the games before. Opting to take life with the consequence of lost sight was what he had chosen before. If he managed to survive again he knew just choosing life would mean going back to a world of darkness. Yet here in the games he could see quite clearly and he had to choose once more whether to live or to die.
The dark shadows of an abandoned lobby in which he stood made great cover from the others. He stood with the body of a reaper before him, mangled and ripped, his own doing. He wasn't sure his own decision being the right one but he did know that he had to make the games stop for good. This was his second participation in Afterlife and as far as he knew this barbaric competition would need to end. He grabbed his bottle of water and sack of food and proceeded to exit the building.
The stale air of the city greeted him as did a young red headed girl who seemed to be stumbling about the concrete jungle and heading to the Citadel City bridge. "Ting? Ting? Like, where are you?" the girl cried out.
Damien could only try to ignore her. She seemed a bit pathetic in her own howls. Much too dim to fight for hi cause. Leaving her the man spotted another man he assumed was from the train. So are you going to try to fight now or later? his angel asked.
"Much later Minsy." Damien replied. "In these stages God will probably be watching everyone closely to asses their talents, weeding out the ones he deems uninteresting."
Well then I guess if we try to do it now it wouldn't be any good anyways. Minsy replied. But you're off on a great start!
"Hush Minsy." Damien commanded before approaching the man who wore an odd shaped hat. "Sir. Do you wish to end these games as I do?"
He had hoped his approach was not too forceful on the man. The last thing he needed was another enemy if he were to become the new god.
~~~~~~

Gabriel

Sir! Another player down sir! Two groups of players in possible combat sir!

"Yes Nanicci I've got it." Gabriel replied.

Lafiel was right. These players were dropping pretty fast and only half of one day had passed! He knew it would be an interesting competition but three players dead without even reaching midnight was something pretty exciting. It seemed as though The Almighty was pleased with what he'd seen from the players so far. But Gabriel couldn't help but wonder if The Almighty had interfered with the games once more.

Sir! Sir! Critical information sir!

"Yes Nanicci?" Gabriel asked.

It's Collins sir! He and a few rogue reapers have been found to be dead sir!

"Are you sure?" Gabriel stopped in the middle of the eastern bridge.

It looks like they were defeated in combat sir! Do you think it was a player or the betrayal of a demon sir?

"Gather more intel on the players and find out which one has been killing reapers."

Aye sir!

Nanicci's voice faded out on the mic. Taking a stand against reapers was rarely ever done when it came to the Afterlife games. Gabriel couldn't help but wonder how someone as powerful as a reaper could be killed by any mortal being.

Tia Wang

The creature shrieked as hot flames from one of the girls licked it's torso. It's claws swiped dangerously at the non attacking female but somehow it could not lay a finger on her. It stepped back with it's twisted face and through it's open mouth came a scream so high pitched that any who heard it's tone could be rendered completely deaf if hey did not cover their own ears.

The creature looked at the one who had sprayed it with fire and so it raced fast towards the girl, it's sharp and dangerous fingers slicing through the air towards her. It wanted to kill her for the pain she had caused it.

~~~~~~
RyuSpeaking.png
Ryu: Flames huh? Too bad it didn't kill the thing. If you tried jumping headfirst in front of it's claws all of this could be over in seconds.
SanserSpeaking.png
Sanser: Er...it's claws can't hit you...R-run while it's distracted....if you want...
Bastion: *yawn* Looks like you've got company. *yawn*
The brown haired girl quickly walked over to her. However, what made the entire situation a bit uneasy was the fact that the first thing she did was place her foot right on the top of her bat. From the looks of it, it wasn’t intentional, but the fact of the matter is that the upper hand the girl already had was now even more in her favor. “…Hey there!” At the very least she was friendly as she stuck her out for Alyss to grab. “…May I ask.. who you are?” She was just about to grab her hand and introduce herself until her phone beeped, and then she noticed Clarissa now at the girl’s side.
Alyss had noticed her before, but didn’t expect her to do what she was doing now. “Ah-ah-ah y my dear.” From the looks of things, Clarissa had just found her next victim. Alyss was petrified. “Why you are a very pretty young lady. Well we all are really. We all have our youth after all-well had for the most part.” Just as she finished speaking, she looked over at Alyss. “You want more points young lady? Here they are. You need to survive! It’s either her or you! Choose to fight for your survival Alyss!” Her pistol never left the brown haired girl.
Yet Alyss was shaking. “Clarissa… I-I cannot…” Yes, she did need the points. Everyone did. But this girl had just helped her. If she hadn’t have gotten rid of the demon when she did, Alyss would currently be out of the game right now. Not only that, the girl was still standing on her bat. Even if Alyss currently had it in her hands, this was not the way to do things. There was no… honor in it. There was nothing but two people ganging up on an unsuspecting person to finish them off. There was a huge difference in guerrilla tactics and cowardice and that far crossed that line.
Still trembling, Alyss got to her feet. As she spoke she couldn’t help but pause to catch a breath from all the running she had just done. “Surely there must be some other way? This… this is not right. I-I do want the points. I need the points… but this simply is not fair. I-I cannot do it. I am…” There was a long pause before she could actually swallow her pride and finish the sentence. “S-sorry…”
<Kiresta>
(OOC: I do believe I interpreted your post correctly, Exor)
Kiresta froze. the girl in question had frozen also, moments away from taking her hand.
“Ah-ah-ah y my dear.” So it was a girl behind her? Well damnit, why hadn't she expected this? Why had she got caught. Shitballs-a-skiddoodles. She was fucked.
she mutter very quietly. The girl spoke again
"why you are a very pretty young lady. Well we all are really. We all have our youth after all-well had for the most part.” Kiresta resisted a Snort. this ranting was annoying her. if she was going to die, then kill her Damnit! As much as she wanted hell or Heaven. a painful death would suffice for being lost in eternity.
Maybe she could meet the other dead victims there. Maybe she could apologise to Ryu. Ah, Ryu. She really did need to say sorry. She hoped she wouldn't be alone in nothingness. and damnit-all! why is she thinking about death? There's still a chance!
“You want more points young lady? Here they are. You need to survive! It’s either her or you! Choose to fight for your survival Alyss!” So this bitch wanted the girl to kill her. Alyss? Was it? She would let Alyss kill her, Someone so innocent shouldn't have to be condemmed. Yet she still had final words
“Clarissa… I-I cannot…” So the Bitch's name was Clarissa? How Noble.
“Surely there must be some other way? This… this is not right. I-I do want the points. I need the points… but this simply is not fair. I-I cannot do it. I am…” kiresta gave Alyss a warm smile, 'Innocence, it was nice to see you again' She thought.
"..Sorry."
And Kiresta knew that was not only directed at clarissa. but if, only a little. directed at her. she just kept smiling and asked one thing.
"...If i'm going to die, may I please have final words?"
Kiresta slowly moved her foot off the bat. all she could do was try.
Marin felt confident in her power for a brief moment, as the demon child recoiled after the first blow. Clawing at its own body to rid the flames, she tried again. Still new to these games and whatever they may hold, she managed to figure out that it almost acted out very similarly to a dream… they could nearly accomplish whatever they desired with these powers, after all, it wasn’t the real world. But similar to the former.. if one dies in a dream.. if one dies here…
The creature came close to the two of them, and they flinched as it swiped out… missing? Sarah’s own defensive power was working! From the corner of her eye, she glanced at the girl who kept them safe, glad to have no other ally on her side.
Marin allowed for the flame to engulf her whole arm before a noise erupted throughout the area. That noise. It was awful. She couldn’t stand it, she couldn’t focus, she couldn’t bear it! Stopit!Stopit!Stopit!Stopit! She screamed within her own head. Unable to focus her concentration, the flame shot off from her arm, assailing the creature, almost accidentally as it lunged out at Marin again. Her hands clamped down hard over her ears and she swung her head around, trying to stop the ringing in her ears. Gods, it was so painful!
The cry of the creature as her flame shot narrowly missed it, blazening into its right side caught her attention. It was still on a dead course for her, for both of them. Marin saw that Sarah was in no better shape, the sound cutting them off from a realm of attention.
“Flames huh? Too bad it didn't kill the thing. If you tried jumping headfirst in front of its claws all of this could be over in seconds.” Ryo mocked, rolling his eyes at their efforts. They were both going to get killed if they didn’t do something quick.
“Get down!” Marin shoved Sarah as hard as she could, who looked like she was still in pain herself from the sound. Pushing her over, she hoped it would toss the girl down a couple feet away and into the ground, simultaneously throwing herself down into the dirt. Too little too late.
As Marin was throwing herself into the ground, the creature’s claws swiped at her back, scooping out a chunk of her flesh from her lower left shoulder. A few inches in diameter and perhaps close to the second layer of skin, not enough to expose the raw muscle and fat that lay underneath but nothing that a simple band aid could fix either. She lay on the ground, a simple whimper escaping her lips as the beast staggered a couple yards away from them as it tried to regather its footing for a second assault.
[OOC: I didn't expect her clothing to come in handy here. :P]
Sarah Wisely
IT WORKED! It bloody worked! Her phone was vibrating again, but Sarah couldn't be bothered. Perhaps there was a glimmer of hope for her after all. Such an ability would definitely be worth keeping around until the last moment. Maybe by then, she would have gained enough courage to stab someone's bac-- A high-pitched scream interrupts her chain of thoughts. Sarah staggered as she covered her ears. It must be that monster. “Get down!” As soon as she said that, Marin shoved Sarah to the ground. For a moment, Sarah was confused. Her immediate thought was betrayal was coming, then she realized the folly of that thought.
Blood. That familiar red seemed to arc in the air as Marin fell to the ground. Sarah was horrified but her trembling had stopped. No. She was still trembling, but for a different reason. "ARGHHHH!" She screams as she sprints towards the monster as it was regaining footing. As she comes close, she lurches into the air and swung her fists at the monster's face with the momentum. The impact felt tremendously bone breaking. She never actually punched a person before, much less a monster. She couldn't feel her fists after that. It was still trembling though, this time more likely to be the pain.
Sarah scrambled to Marin's side, going into a fluster. "M-m-must stop bleeding," she said to compose herself. She quickly took off her short-sleeved shirt that she usually wore over her long-sleeved one and haphazardly bandaged Marin's wound with it.
Marin tried to pick herself up, leaning on her elbows as she groaned in pain. The beast behind her let out its own war cry as Sarah, always the unpredictable little thing, waltzed right up to it and assaulted as if it were nothing. Would it be enough?
She pressed her forehead against the ground as she was about to swallow her pride and succumb to the death of the games… but Sarah wasn’t having that.
While the demon child was distracted, Sarah scurried over and tore apart at her baggy overshirt, wrapping meticulously at her shoulder to try and pressure the wound into submission. Marin gritted her teeth, biting back the pain when she would tighten it on her shoulder. For being dead… the sense of pain was making her feel mighty alive now.
A faint smile crept on her lips at the girl’s efforts in between the waves of pain. Picking herself up from the dirt, she sat back on her knees, putting a hand back onto her shoulder. The blood was doing its best to assault the rest of her body, staining the girl’s cream coloured makeshift bandage. “T-thank you…” The monster was still a bit a way’s aware, and Marin looked down at her free hand, concentrating hard. A small layer of flame licked at her skin, engulfing her fingers. “If I can just get close enough to it…”
“If it doesn’t kill you first.” Always the picker upper, he was.
Sarah Wisely
"Come on, I can help you with that."
Putting Marin's arms over her left shoulder, Sarah helped the girl up as she looked towards the monster. It was now or never. With her Soaking Shield, there could not possibly be any melee attacks that can hurt them. Sarah tightens her grip on Marin's arm knowing full well not to separate from her. Staying this close nullifies any advantage the monster could have in it's current form. All that's left now was for Marin to do what she has to in order to save the two from an imminent death.
Sarah couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. It wasn't at all appropriate, she realized, but she took solace in the fact that it wasn't her that was doing the killing. Sure, it was pretty much an act of self-defense, but still. "Stay close," Sarah instructed as calmly as she could manage.
