The silver-haired young woman smiled, accepted Bartholomew's handshake right away, and introduced herself.
"Pleasure to meet you as well. I'm Estrella Briller, second chair of DisCom."
The girl he recognized as Delijah got up from her seat on the fountain, and straightened up. She was still quite short even after doing so.
A pleasure to meet you. I am Delijah Fei, the Vice President of the Discipline Committee here at Eureka Academy. I hope to work and cooperate well with you two in the coming year.
Bartholomew noticed Delijah check her watch; he realized dinner time must be soon approaching, and out of interest, he reached into his pocket and checked the time on his phone.
How about we have dinner together? With the entire committee? All we are missing is Veerle and Athena.
"That sounds good to me. I do want to get to know all of you better, seeing as we'll be working together for a while."
“That's an excellent idea,” agreed Bartholomew, replacing his phone in his pocket. “And hey, since I'm new at this, maybe I could even pick up a few pointers from you ladies as well.” He grinned.
Just then, a young girl in a light red kimono approached them; she looked a bit lost.
“Um… I am sorry for interrupting,” she said to them, in a bit of a British accent.“However, I am looking for where the dinner event is supposed to take place. Could you pl-“
The girl trailed off, her gaze drifting up to the roof of a nearby building. Bartholomew turned to look, and tried to see what had attracted her attention. He could make out two figures standing up there; and though the growing darkness made it a bit difficult to see who they were, he was pretty sure he recognized both of them. Veerle Shinja, the new leader of the Disciplinary Committee, and Orion Smith, the infamous former Student Council member who had “betrayed” Eureka Academy last year. Bartholomew tried very hard not to smile; as arrogant as Orion could be sometimes, his actions last term had been completely ingenious. Infiltrating Diaga Academy to save his own skin, then working his way back into Eureka by duping the Diagas during their assault....His execution of it had been a bit sloppy for Bartholomew's tastes, but he had to admire the man for trying. As it seemed like he was already in trouble, however, he certainly didn't envy him.
It appeared as though Veerle was getting ready to attack Orion—understandable, given the duplicitous reputation the young man had acquired. Or, perhaps he had simply run his mouth just now, as was a frequent problem he seemed to have. Either way, though, Bartholomew figured it would be best to leave them be; he didn't feel like getting involved in such a thing himself, so he quickly removed his attention from the figures on the roof, hoping the other Committee members with him wouldn't notice and decide that they all needed to intervene.
He returned his eyes to the young girl with the question, then raised an eyebrow briefly at a boy who ran by and almost hit the lot of them. Looking back at the girl, he decided to answer her; he figured assisting a lost student might be a good opening act for his new position.
“The dinner hall? We're on our way there ourselves,” he replied brightly, giving her a kind smile. “Why don't you follow us?” He glanced at Delijah and Estrella. “So long as that's alright with you ladies, that is?”
