Kandy-Sugar's Photoshop 7.0 Attempts

Thanks heaps for the comments guys!

I just did a request and I tried to do something different with the signature.

Though I don't really like it. <_<

The avatar loks fantastic. Nice colours, lighting and the text looks fantastic.
I prefer version 2 of the sig, im not fond of the black to the left on the first one it doesnt really blend with the rest of the tag which has light colours, i also prefer the text on the second. I think the fonts look better and i like the wee box u have round the second line. The dots and the little vector are a nice add aswell.
Maybe try adding some c4d or some more brushes to liven it up a bit. Effect c4ds hav e a really cool effect when u play with the blending on them, id recomend them. Good work ^_^

Thanks for the comments again guys.

I've been a bit slack of late. Well it's all Photoshop's fault really. <_<

But here's some things from a few SOTW's and AOTW's ago.

Wasn't entirely happy with them. But C+C please. =)

I like the avatar - simple, but it works.

As for the signature, it's fairly decent. I think maybe the stock was a poor choice though because it has that very old look to it, but then again if your aim was to make the tag have that old feel to it, then it works. I love the text - that caught my attention right away and it's brilliantly done. The orbs surrounding him, however, is a tad bit awkward for a Bruce Willis signature. Maybe if you had applied Gaussian Blur (Go to Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur) to that particular orb layer, then it would have had a really nice effect since then you'd have a variety of colors to play and move around with. And then after, either set the layer to Soft Light, Overlay, Color Dodge, etc and see if anything works. But that's just a few tips for you. :)

Glad to know that your photoshop is working again, by the way.

E
verything on this looks great, placement text the colours and softness. Although maybe if 1988 was in a different colour it would look better. Im not sure though. Awesome work as usual Kandy =)

I
agree with mitsuki on the quality of the image. Die hard is an old film so naturally the quality of the screenshots will be poor, youv done quite a good job though considering. I like the text especiall though i think if u moved the 'B' in bruce up it would look better. The glowing orbs are also a little bright, maybe reduce the opacity on them as they draw the eye away from John.
Glad to hear you got photoshop back again, now you can start posting more =)

Thanks for the comments guys. I don't feel as though I'll be around much longer so I'll just post my recent entries for this weeks comps.

Here's my entries for this week:

I like this one, its very colourful, and all the effects seem to go together very well^^ I saw that you got a lot of votes in the voting thread for it. Congrats!

I actually loved this image when I saw it in the voting thread, it was AWESOME! A)Because its an awesome siggy B) because i'm a sucker for evanescence. Again, I dont think I wouldve changed anything in this sig. its beautiful!

Then again, i'm no expert in Gfx, so i may be completely wrong...

This ones really nice. Its so glittery and sparkly. Youv done an amazing job with the image as its not the best of quality. Text looks good, its easy to read despite the white font colour. I think if u blurred the BG a bit it would look even better. it would make the lass pop out to the front.
18.png

Hehehe i have that c4d. I think you could have done a bit more to the BG maybe smudging it. The best tool in photoshop for working with stocks is the apply image function. Itl allow you to add lots of effects and erase the bits you dont want without erasing the actual stock itself. Im liking the text and the fonts chosen. =)

I dont think its overdone at all. I like the softness aroun d the bottoms and in particular the sharpness around her face and hair. Nice border and it looks great without text, i wouldnt change it at all.
Great work :)

Reaaaally, pretty. Sparkly looking, the font is gorgeous. I LOVE the bird on her shoulder. It's an amazingly colourful icon.

I VOTED FOR THIS ONE. Absolutely love this signature. Although I'm not sure what the brushes on the left, and bottom right are supposed to be, the colours and fonts are amzing in this siggy, it caught my attention in the SoTW and wouldn't let go. :gasp:

I like this. It reminds me of the vibrancy Lew uses in his works. And I love vibrancy, which is making this icon look really good. The double border is really cute, and I love the soft shades on the bottom.

Hope you update more soon![/quote]

I just finished a request for one of the members here.

Don't know if they'll use it yet, but it was good for practice. Used a few different filters, although they're not that noticeable. Just trying to experiment.

Definately without a doubt the best thing youv made yet. Its a huge step uo from all your previous sigs. I much prefer version 1 the signature has nice flow to it and i think thee wee box in the corner takes away from that flow.
The one thing i would recomend doing would be to apply the image and sharpen it. Then erase the sharpen everywhere but her face. That would make her stand out a little more i reckon.
I think the av looks great as it is, i wouldnt change anything about it =)
Well done, youve improved a lot.

Thanks heaps for the comments Lew. =D

Well I've been experimenting some more and I went and did a larger piece. I didn't really do too much too it, aside from using a few different filters to make the image look better I hope.

I think I rushed it a bit too much though. =/

This is my first large piece ever, so I was happy that it didn't look completely horrible.

Result:
I had a few different outcomes, though I prefer the first one. The more plain looking one appeals to me more out of the lot. And I hate doing text too, so eh the one with text looks crap I reckon. XD

Wasn't sure if I prefered the one without the border, or with. I prefer this one over the original to be completely honest. Spiced it up more, and the smudgy waterpencil effect worked surprisingly nice on this piece. The third, could use a little work on the text which is all it I have anything to say about. =] Really pretty, specially for a LP. Keep it up, Kandy!

This is my favourite definately :gasp: Uv actuallly made Victoria Beckham look hot. Thats good photoshopping =)
I was very impressed when i saw this. You have kept it simple but it looks incredibly effective. Darkening the outsides pulls you into the focal and the bright white of the bedsheets helps that even more. Youv deone a great job with the filters. Which ones did you use? I think i see gaussian blur, maybe motion aswell and the sharpen tool.
Their bodies are very soft and the sharpness of their faces makes it stand out., excellent.
In my oppinion the text would look better to the right of Becks arm (his left arm) near the shoulder. Usually the closer the text is to the tags focal point the better placed it looks.
Great work though seriously. Considering aswell its an LP and your first one, uv done a stand up job. Congrats =)

Sheesh, look at the emotion you drew out of that with photoshop. That is some very nice skill there. Looks like a fragrance add or something along those lines.

You need to go into a profession with this stuff!

I used:

Dark Strokes
Spatter
Gaussian Blur

I also added some new adjustment layers, in which I used Selective colour.

Then I just used the smudging tool a bit and some random brushes.

Thanks heaps for the comments Lew! I really appreciate it!

Thanks heaps for the kind words!

I don't think anyone has ever said that my work looks professional before, so thanks heaps for that!

And yes it is a fragrance ad! =D It's for Intimately Beckham. I reckon Steve looks like David Beckham who is freaking hot by the way. XD And I just bought Steve some Intimately Beckham fragrance for our anniversary. XD

A little obsessed. XD

Oh wow, is THAT David Beckham!? :wacky: Kandy, you genius you! Although I would have been a lot more happier if you miraculously used your 'take-away-that-woman' skill so we can see a bit more of David.......yeah......

But seriously, what you did was quite good. I prefer the second one as well since it does look complete with that bit of border there. The effects are good and makes the whole image seem a bit more professional. The lighting just really draws your eye on the couple. Great job there. =]

The Cloti avatar looks pretty hot too.
