“Oh, you know you won’t get to catch up now, don’t you?”
Rune smiled as she shut her eyes, ignoring the commotion as more reinforcements joined the fray. The spell was now complete, and these meddlesome third parties could do naught against her spell. The crimson aura around her targets intensified, till it became somewhat blinding. “Slowly, but surely. A brand new future awaits. Mass Teleport,”Rune muttered, completing the incantation of her spell.
Opening her eyes, sheonce again smiled as she saw the aura engulf her and then the surroundings began changing. Suddenly, they were thrust into some unknown magical dimension, where stars shot past at such amazingly close proximities. But this fascinating sight didn’t last long.
…
In the city of Hautou...
A cloaked figure paced about inside a building, his every steps underscored by uncertainty. He had been instructed to await their arrival, but certainly, he didn’t know if they were coming at all, for they were surprisingly late. Just as he was about to give up and leave the building, a magical circle rapidly formed on the ground, signaling the arrival he awaited.
…
A dazzling flash blinded the group as soon as they were thrown back into reality. Rune landed rather skillfully, managing to stay on her feet. After all, this wasn’t the first time she attempted teleportation. She was far used to it, and even more so for the flash of light that never failed to appear towards the end of every teleportation.
As such, she was the first to notice her fellow Bithian, Thomas. “Hello, Thomas. Have you been waiting long?” Rune asked politely, flashing a soft smile as she greeted him.
Thomas was one of the stronger members of the Bithia. Known amongst the inner circles of the Bithia as ‘the Thunderbolt’, he was particularly well known for his powerful lightning spells. However, he still stood below the leader of the Bithia, Alissa, and even Rune herself- thus his humbled attitude.
“Uh, greetings, Lady Rune, I’ve been waiting, and I’m pleased to finally receive you.”
Thomas bows as he says this, recovering only to address Akira condescendingly. “Hm, Akira, I hope you have served Rune well,” He says as he opened the door out of the building. “Please, my Lady.”
Rune almost wanted to slam this guy. She hadn’t been so interested in such formalities, and certainly, she didn’t want to make it awkward for her companions. After all, she hadn’t been addressed like this before, even back then with Akira. The girl almost sighed aloud as she waved the others along. “Please follow. I have something important to tell you all.”
Without making sure they followed, Rune walked out of the building, and into an empty space. The building was apparently located in the slums. However, the people that were present definitely seemed nothing like slum dwellers. Cloaked like Thomas, it was evident these people were Bithians as well.
The slums in this part of Hautou often saw such mass gatherings, as the buildings around obscured the people from the view of the main streets. As such, the Town Guards who always plied only the main streets never quite realized these gatherings. The inhabitants of the slums themselves either seemed too unreliable trust whenever they report, or they were merely silenced by the less patient Bithians.
Nevertheless, this was a safe haven. Rune stopped beside Thomas, nodding to him to give him permission to pass down the order to return to the Bithian Headquarters.
With that done, she turns towards the building to await her companions.
