[RP] Kingdom Hearts: Into The Dusk

Raven Otsdarva
Forgive and Forget

Raven covered his face, wiping the sweat off his brow as Lina continued working on Elaine, it was as his hands were still on his face that he heard a young girl's familiar voice.

"U-um. Raven...I'm sorry."

"Hm?" Raven removed his hands, and saw with a bit of a shock at Laleth's condition, her leg was badly damaged, to the point where not even the doctors on station could mend her bones, confined to a wheelchair.

Theme-The Following Morning

"I'm sorry and this is my fault."
She would pause before speaking again,"I know you probably won't be needing my presence here after what I've done. I'll pack my things as soon as possible. I don't want to be a burden. I'm sorry."

"Laleth..." Raven said, sitting up and on the side of the bed, speaking in a calm voice "...You are no burden. You're my friend." Raven struggled to chuckle a bit, laughing through the pain being felt in his ribs, still trying to heal. The man said calmly, clutching his sides a little. "This isn't the first time that circumstances has forced friends to fight each other." He said, thinking back to the time when Chao was possessed by her Spirit, the Pheonix and caused a ruckus in Nomanisan Island that aggravated old injuries. Upon seeing Chao however, Raven smiled and nodded, "Speaking of which..."

I am glad to see you both up. How are you guys feeling?

"I'll be fine, I felt like I got run over by a Jeep back there."
He said chuckling, clutching his ribs in pain, noticing the glowing half cape on Chao's side, he grew curious. "Is that cape supposed to be glowing like that?" He said calmly, then turning to Laleth, "And how are you able to control those creatures like that?"

"Is that cape supposed to be glowing like that?"

Ha! Looks like you aren't as knocked out as i thought you were.

Chao lifted her right arm up to inspect her hand. Kaufman's sleeve slipped down and revealed the now clawed hands. Chao had mixed feelings about her new limb. Her affinity was with fire, so every time she looked at it, it would fascinate and amaze her. At the same time, she would also be conflicted and horrified. As much as the fire was beautiful and entrancing, anyone would want a pair of human arms that wasn't at risk of immolating everything it touched. Her hand now stared up at her, its fingers long and tapered, the fire now only lightly licking at the air. It was controlled and in no danger of setting anything on fire instantly. Still, it was best not to go touching people just yet until she could get a second opinion from Phoenix. Chao then extended her hand outwards to show Raven clearly.

Yea...i don't know what is happening. See? This isn't exactly human, yknow.... Worse is that for now, i can't seem to control it. Its calm right now, but who know what might trigger it to flare up? In any case, since this is under control for now, the most important thing our next step. I do have to admit, i am curious about your combat capabilities. Those... monsters, for a lack of better word, are interesting. Are they kind of a summon spirit or more a familiar?

(Sorry for the late post. D= I'll just insert small comments in the ongoing convo. ^^)

Laleth Aires
Mystery of Cain

Hearing Raven's acceptance of her mistake made Laleth much happier. She cracked a bit of a smile after his words were spoken.

...You are no burden. You're my friend

He had said those words to her. He considered her a friend though she'd just met him. Hell she'd rarely even had a conversation with him and yet he didn't see her as some poor little girl just trying to help out, but something more. It was a compliment Laleth had never been given before and in second all of her guilt seemed to have vanished on the spot. "Thank you."

She was happy. She wasn't going to be kicked out. And she was overjoyed.

I am glad to see you both up. How are you guys feeling?

"Fine." she replied.

Laleth looked up to see the woman Chao who had carried her here. She seemed different in a way. Laleth figured it was the frustration of having to get the injured in the last battle back aboard the Normandy. It wasn't until Raven's question that she noticed the extravagant cape the woman wore draped over her shoulder. It was black but upon further inspection it glowed with a brilliant light underneath which had shown off it's phoenix design etched onto it. "Wow." she muttered. It looked like a pretty light display.

Ha! Looks like you aren't as knocked out as i thought you were.

When Chao's hand revealed itself, laleths immediate reaction was to pull back a bit for her own safety. it looked like the hand of a fire demon, or maybe a fire god. She was in awe at it's brilliant light and burning claws. She began wondering if a person were to get scratched by it, if it would burn their wounds. Was this woman a half demon as well? she thought. "And how are you able to control those creatures like that?"

Laleth was now met by Raven and Chao's gaze. It was her turn to talk, and so she cleared her throat and intended to sound as mature as they. "Well. They're not exactly spirits in a sense. They're demons." She thought for a minute about where she should begin.

"In my world, demons can rarely be seen by people. Those who can see them are often called demon's themselves. I began seeing Grim when I was living in a monastery a long time ago. Then Cain and shortly after Abel. They come from an alternate plain, but they help me whenever I call on them. They're like my friends from another world" she was unaware of the smile that had begun to form due to old memories being recalled.

They were her only friends in the monastery orphanage and she kept them hidden from other humans. "Basically when someone like me who can see them becomes strong enough a demon can offer their services to them. For example Cain, Abel, and Grim pledge to come whenever I called." She then decided to quickly get to the subject that had been bothering her for quite some time. "A person like me who summons a demon is supposed to be able to order her demons, and have them follow without question. They're supposed to obey every command I give them once they swear themselves to me but..."

She thought once more about Cain. About how no matter how hard she tried, to call him off, she couldn't. "Something happened out there. I couldn't command Cain to stop. It was like he wasn't under my control anymore. Like someone interfered or something! I don't know what's happening but I do know that someone or something sabotaged me." Laleth straightened up a bit in her wheelchair, trying as hard as she could to look dignified. "Whoever was able to intercept my power had to be someone very strong. There's some really strong and dark magic going on and I don't like it. Children on my world can't handle demons like myself and a grown man would barely be worthy to acquire such demons. One thing I do know is that if it was a person who tried to intervene and turn my friend against me, they'll pay."

And with that she decided to wheel herself to the restroom. All of that talking had taken a toll on her bladder.

Further Complications

Raven heard the full details, about Chao's arm and of Laleth's powers, including that she was part-demon. It actually made him think of Luna. Since she had Shiva, another summon spirit, he wondered if she had similar trouble once she started using the spirit. With a sly smile on his face, he asked, "Did Luna ever have similar trouble using a Summon Spirit?"

"T-That is something you don't need to worry about."
Luna said in a hurried tone, as if she had heard where the conversation was going and she was trying to save face, but Raven just grinned, "Oh really, seems you have something embarrassing happen between you and Shiva. Would you like to share?"

"I don't know, would you like an extended stay in the infirmary!?"
She said, her face beat red, and Raven said, "Well I don't like doctors, but I might need to stick around anyway, what have I got to lose?"

"Honestly, I don't even...Anyway, Queen Minnie and Commander Hamilton has requested us to head to Disney Castle. He wanted to see you, me and Chao. It is actually supposed to be a medal ceremony and promotions for our work beyond the call of duty in the Battle of Unity Islands."
This fact made Raven roll his eyes. "I'm glad me and my friends saved my homeworld, I don't need to be reminded of it every waking moment of my life now." He sighed, at this point he was just not in the mood, after having nearly been shot, burned and blown up, three times in one day yesterday. "When is it?"

"Tomorrow, November the Fourth."

"Wait, isn't it the Second?"

"No, you slept through the Second and you practically slept through the morning."
The thought of being out of it for the past day and a half spooked Raven to no end...

"...WHAT!"
He said loudly, his reaction on his face screaming 'What the deuce?' Lina, being the Nurse she was said, "Keep your voice down, you don't want to wake the patients!" Raven's eye twitched before he sighed, hanging his head in humiliation.

OOC: Take us wherever we need to be if there is nothing else special to do on the ship

Chao

"Honestly, I don't even...Anyway, Queen Minnie and Commander Hamilton has requested us to head to Disney Castle. He wanted to see you, me and Chao. It is actually supposed to be a medal ceremony and promotions for our work beyond the call of duty in the Battle of Unity Islands."

Like Raven, Chao also rolled her eyes and grunted in displeasure. While she greatly respected the higher up such as Queen Minnie and the King, Chao would rather spend the time taken at the ceremony resting or check up on things in the ship and back at Eastern Cloud. It was unavoidable, however, so there was no choice. It was even worse given that her arm is so weird right now. Would it be impolite if she did everything with one arm covered?

"When is it?"

"Tomorrow, November the Fourth."

"Wait, isn't it the Second?"

"No, you slept through the Second and you practically slept through the morning."

"...WHAT!

Chao cackled rather meanly? It was a huge blow to Raven's ego that he had to take so long to recover. Granted, it was a wound that probably should have taken longer, but this was Raven they were talking about. Every second spent needlessly sleeping is a second wasted. Chao can't really comment as she herself is similar in that trait. She would rest the most minimalistic at night and perhaps catch power naps when there is nothing to do, but she would exploit every bit of time she had.

"Keep your voice down, you don't want to wake the patients!

The nurse glared at both Raven and herself, mostly because she cackled so loudly. Looking sheepish, Chao covered her mouth instinctly with her hands.

Well, putting aside Raven being a lazy bugger laying around for a day, I guess going Disney Castle would be good for us. We could use a bit of R&R, particularly Laleth.

The nurse glared at her once more, which was probably the signal for her to go. It was not smart to get on the medical team's bad side, so Chao gave in

Urk. We'll ill head back to my room then. See you probably when we get there i guess.

Quickly skipping out of the medical bay, Chao headed back to her private room. Next door, she saw Kaufman already relaxing around in her own room and Chao figured she should loosen her limbs and ease the tension in her body. It probably woldn't be a good idea to show up stiff and tense at a formal ceremony.

Unnecessary Downtime

Urk. We'll ill head back to my room then. See you probably when we get there i guess.

"Alright, I'll see you later."
Raven said as Chao left.

"I believe you should be leaving too Miss Luna."
Lina said sternly, the Keyblade Knight nodded, "Okay, see when you get back on your feet Raven." She said before bowing at the doctor and taking her leave. Raven felt so embarrassed after that huge debacle that he had to hide his face so Lina would not see his face beat red. "I wonder if the fall from this bed would make me skip the ceremony." Raven thought to himself as he found himself bored...

The Phantom and The Arbiter
Hidden Shadows

There was a knock on the door into The Phantom's door as he was finishing up a hologram message. Grabbing his helmet, the middle-aged, greying man began to put it on as the door was opened, revealing the Arbiter clad in armor, except for the helmet, revealing her face, with beautiful long white hair and yellow eyes that shined like two small topaz gems.

"Lady Hrimfaxi."
The Phantom said, looking at the Arbiter through his helmeted mask. "So...they've made the order."

"Yes, High Command has ordered me to launch attacks on the advancing Haos (Realm of Light) Soldiers. They've made every expense to get the Heavy Command Cruiser Indignation operational for the role. They want me to lead it, knowing full well that the position will put us vulnerable to enemy attack."

"Ever since Raven Otsdarva and his friends defeated the last Arbiter, the Empire has been tripping about, the war has turned in favor to the Realm of Light."

"Are you certain that HE could be the one to end this war?"

"Are you skeptica?"

The Arbiter crossed her arms, "Very, no matter how it looks he's just a kid. Already a month in and he can barely grasp his role of leader, and even then he knows not of the true enemy behind this war..."

"But his team may be the greatest threat against that conspiracy, that true enemy behind the war."
The Phantom sighed before holding out his hand, a disc and a smooth black stone. "This is a message to be given to Raven, if you still have any doubts of his power, you could always fight him head on."

Hrimfaxi took the two items and put it in her armor. "This may be the last time we may see each other, after today, I might not survive long enough to meet you again." She said calmly, and The Phantom nodded, "It was a pleasure working with you, my old friend."

"May you achieve peace, Keyblade Master..."

Raven Otsdarva, Luna Thermidor & Elaine Chevalier
Heading to Disney Castle

The pilots of the Normandy had traveled quite far to make their way to Disney Castle. Disney Castle was not large, in fact it was half the size of the Radiant Garden, the industrial and economic center of the Realm of Light as well as its prime military center. But Disney Castle served the importance of being the center of all the Realm of Light, the Capital World where politics reigned. The winds of war had yet to reach here however.

"We will march forward and we will not lay down our arms until the Heartless Imperial Capital has fallen!"
The Commanding Officer, by the name of General Wilson Howell spoke from on the television. Raven at the time was eating his breakfast, a light breakfast consisting of cereal and milk, and a banana. With him already was some of his comrades, Luna and Elaine. Chao had yet to arrive, and once the ship was to land they would be on their way.

"So, what exactly happened while I was out for the past 3 days Luna?"
Elaine asked, both she and Raven were discharged from the infirmary this morning and Raven was listening in to get a bearing of the situation.

"The Battle of Destiny Islands, despite the debacle that happened with you guys was still a resounding victory. We've not only captured a major forward base from the Heartless, but we've also captured various neighboring worlds and defeated many of the retreating forces as well. They were still talking about what happened with the team, and although I've explained the situation and it all checked out, a few of the officers are not convinced. They are blaming you, Raven for the lack of command that occurred in that third bunker."

Raven would put the spoon down and sighed, "I understand." He said calmly, "In all honesty, with everything that had happened, at Deep Space, at Radiant Garden and at Destiny Islands. I guess I could chalk it up to a bit resounding blame for all of that."

Luna scowled at Raven's attitude towards it. Hearing the news just made him feel worse, but she continued. "The day after Operation Footprint, the Realm of Light forces began a direct invasion of the Heartless Empire, sending 4 of our fleets, including half our remaining Heavy Command Cruisers into the attack. They managed to capture a border world to serve as a beachhead of sorts. The plan was to get to the Heartless capital as quickly as possible. But yesterday some pilots were caught bombing a civilian area."

That news made Elaine scowl, and say in an angered tone "I knew it would have come to that. Just what are they pulling here?" Luna shrugged though, "Well, they are doing their court-martial today as well, so if its true then justice will see them on their way." Turning her attention to Raven she said, "Your Class A Uniform arrived while you were out. I brought it over to your quarters for you."

Raven nodded, "Thanks...I really don't feel like going, but I don't want them to make a big fuss over it." Raven said calmly as he stood up. "I'll go on ahead. Luna I'll meet you on the bridge." Raven said before he left the cafeteria to go and put on his uniform.

Laleth Aires
The Machines

Laleth's body and mind no longer ached of pain and guilt. She had very well put the past behind her and automatically focused her attention to the situation at hand. The doctor said she probably would not be walking for a long while. Due to her terrible mangled leg injury she'd have to wait an untold amount of time before she could even begin to put weight on it again. The last few hours had been crucial, she remained in deep thought about her body, but more importantly her interest began to lie within machines.

Often on breaks she had from the infirmary she would wheel herself down to the Normandy shuttle dock and watch the various mechanics. She often had questions of how certain machines worked and what made them go. Yesterday afternoon she even asked a few of the mechanics to help her understand and possibly even build something she could use for herself. She was too short to properly drive a vehicle or ship but with all of her extra free time, controls of the ships were of interest to her.

Once the Normandy had arrived at Disney Castle Laleth opted to leave. Life aboard the ship without being able to walk on her own was getting dull. She had no patience for being confined to a chair and having people do things for her. She had a private conversation with a medic confirming an appointment for surgery as soon as she got back before she wheeled herself out onto the ship deck ready to tag along with the rest of the crew once they departed.

A nearby television monitor displayed news reports of some kind. Laleth thought of news as one of the most boring programs to look at and made a face of obvious dislike before she gave in to stare at it until it was time to leave.

Chao and Kaufman

Chao sighed as she looked at the rack in her room. Her sister has got wind of Taskforce 108's summoning to Disney Castle and like the nosy little girl she remembers, Diao Quan sent Chao, via Eastern Cloud's fastest scout ship, several maids and her formal outfit. What she herself wears daily was gaudy enough. Chao herself admits to it that most normal people would avoid wearing something so fancy and flashy, but THIS was on a whole other level. Her actual outfit was red in the most rich and royal sense with fancy gold trimmings and details. Its sleeves were incredibly long and hanging, covering her hands with plentiful room to spare and the lower hems of her dress seem to want to compete in terms of extra material. Then, throw in her headdress. Chao could only be grateful that Diao Quan did not send her one of the female Phoenix headdress, but a more simpler eastern coronet.

M'lady, you must stop moving. We must put the royal robes on properly. We have yet to do your hair.

To emphasise her point, one of the maids tightened the waist belt, causing a sharp breath from Chao.

Ah...ah ah ahrh... Take it easy!

Here was a warrior, unafraid of charging headfirst into combat and suffered gashing wounds without a sign of pain, was now writhing at the hands of several thin and petite servants. They even managed to overcome Chao's arm excuse by wrapping Desiree's half cape around her arm and leaving a small funnel opening for her hand. It was uncomfortable, but Chao had no say in it. All of this done without even a second of pause. With a few more tugs, the robes were secured on tightly, but before Chao could move, with blitzing speed, two of the maids guided her to a chair and began fixing her hair to wear the coronet. The last was busily putting socks and her platform princess shoes on. All of this was very impractical and, in her mind, stupid. The outfit was incredibly restrictive, with the sleeves, its length and the shoes.

There, it is done m'lady. You look every part the princess that you are.

I would have much preferred something less individualistic. I am in the R.o.L army and itd make more sense to conform and wear a uniform

M'lady represents the great empire of Eastern Cloud. You must dress to your appropriate station. While the armies uniform may suffice for the peasants and even lords, m'lady is a princess and our representative. Plus, Princess Diao Quan gave explicit orders that you must wear this.

Sometimes, Chao hates Eastern Cloud's hierarchical structure. It works seamlessly in the empire, but that doesn't always swim with other nations. That line could be very well antagonistic.

Right, right. Whatever. I'll be fine on my own, so you three are free until i come back.

We must attend to you. We shall hold the hem of your robes.

Internally, Chao was groaning.

If the robe needs people to hold it.... DONT MAKE IT SO DARN LONG THEN!

No. i can hold it up by myself. The ring at the end will suffice enough for me to hold it up. No arguments.

It was the exact same tone she used during the counsel. There was to be no argument. As Chao exited her room, she ran into Kaufman who was strolling down. The gunner stopped midstep.

Well... i consider myself quite the flashy dresser, but that takes the cake.

Apparently, representative duties. Stupid Diao Quan.... and i even gave her the very power to do this to me.... Whatever. Lets go to the docks. I dont think i can eat anything with this thing on.

Yes, your highness. Shall i assist you with your hem?

An icy stare drilled straight through Kaufman, but she didnt care. With a cheeky grin, she continued to eat the apple in her hand and strolled off the Normandy. It has been less than ten minutes and Chao had turned heads more times than she cared for. It was embarassing and her face was red from it. She needed to distract herself and right in front, in a wheelchair, sat Laleth. Strolling up to the girl, Chao greeted her.

Morning Laleth. How are you feeling?

Peter N "Pops" Beagle
Welcome Guests

Pops was fixing up one of the Gummi Ships on board the Normandy. While the hangar wasn't as big as a standard, it being a light stealth frigate, it was enough to fit a half a dozen Pelican transports and about half a dozen fighter aircraft in its compartment bay, and a seperate vehicle bay for the Jeeps, ATV's and a single custom APC and Heavy Tank as well.

As Pops was fixing one of the fighters, he came to see Laleth looking at some of the mechanics working, looking at the television as it displayed the news, a look of boredom on her face. Pops would stand up and walk on over. "You seem enthused over something." He said calmly, wiping the sweat off his balding head. "So what can I do for you? Anything you need, just ask." He said calmly, a smile on his face as he then looked over to see Chao, dressed extravagantly, "It's a military ceremony, not a royal ball." He said, chuckling to himself, poking fun at the matter.

Raven Otsdarva
Getting Dressed

Raven would calmly walk to his quarters, kept clean after having been away from it for the past few days. As he walked down the steps he would see what would be his uniform laid out neatly on the bed. Raven remove his shirt and put on a fresh clean non-sleeved shirt before moving to put on the white collared shirt, buttoning it up his body. He looked down and over his body, looking at some of the scars left over from the very battle he was going to be "rewarded" for. What kind of horseshit was this anyway?

Raven sighed as he continued to dress himself, putting on the black pants and the black jacket. The jacket had gold trim on the sleeves and gold buttons that he could put on himself. It was also highlighted with the epaulets of his current rank of Captain. The Keyblade wielder would walk to a mirror, and try to smile, even in military uniform, he looked good. Raven would take a thick string, and grasped his long hair tightly as he began to tie it together into a Low Ponytail close to his neck. Once that was done he took the white hat, ordained with a black plastic strap with the emblem of the Realm of Light Marine on hand, walking out the door and in the direction of the elevator. From there, the soldier would see Luna, dressed in a similar attire, but with the rank of Lieutenant on her epaulets. "You dress sharp, Raven. Like a really handsome officer."

"Er...thanks, I guess."
Raven blushed as the elevator closed and made its way down to the 5th Deck, the Hangar Bay of the Normandy. It would be there that they would wait for the Normandy to land as it made its final approach to the Air Field.

Morning Laleth. How are you feeling?

Laleth looked up from her wheelchair and blinked a few times. A part of her was in awe, the other part amused. She stared for a minute before she realized who it was. "Chao, oh you look so pretty in that dress! I've never seen one like it before!"

She was telling the truth. There wasn't a garment in all of Idunblim that looked as vibrant and decorative. Laleth wanted to ask her if it was necessary to wear the headdress. The girl couldn't force herself to look any higher that Chaos eyes and knew that if she did she'd more than likely rudely burst into fits of giggling. No amount of self restraint could hold back her childish opinion. "Why are you dressed so nicely? Are you a part of a play? Or maybe going somewhere fancy?"

Laleth figured perhaps she should have worn something nicer. Since her last dress was destroyed and she wore a cast, she had nothing but a borrowed simple red dress that was over sized. Fashion wise the two females were polar opposites. "Oh! Wait Chao! How is your dress not burning?" she asked remembering Chaos arm.

It was only a moment later that a man called over to her. She'd only slightly recalled seeing him around the hangar. "So what can I do for you? Anything you need, just ask."

He sounded nice. "I'm working on something, actually, with one of you mechanics." she said straightening a back a bit in a matter-of-fact manner. "Hold on I'll show you."

While she bent to rummage through a sack hooked on the side of her chair she heard the man say something to Chao. She smiled at his comment and took out a notebook of drawings and notes with really bad handwriting. She showed the man. "I'm making sure THIS can be made by the time I get back to the ship."

It was a outlining of what looked like a simple mechanic limb, that looked like it could attach and detach from the girl's injured leg. "I think I'll call it the assist-o-matic!" Laleth said handing the plans over to him. "I told one of the people to work on it for me."

After speaking aloud she noticed how silly it might have sounded to this old man, and especially to the sophisticated adult Chao.

Chao and Kaufman

"Chao, oh you look so pretty in that dress! I've never seen one like it before!"

Chao looked down at her dress. She would have to admit that what Laleth said was true. It was overly extravagant, but at the same time, a very beautiful piece of work. The detail and intricate patterns were all hand made and due to the status needed to even have the right to wear it, you'd never find this even in Eastern Cloud and only in the closet of royals.

Why... thank you.

"Why are you dressed so nicely? Are you a part of a play? Or maybe going somewhere fancy?"

Trust me, if i didnt have to, i wouldnt. As Princess of my home world, you'd think id have a choice in outfit, but i just got man handled by three of my servants by order of my sister. I curse myself for giving her imperial powers.

"It's a military ceremony, not a royal ball."

From the sides, one of the mechanics chuckled and threw a comment at Chao's dress. While she was fine being a bit more casual with those she knew personally, Chao was a proud Easter Cloud royal and she was not really used to jesting and joking insolence from those she didnt know too well. She had to take the comment with a grain of salt.

Indeed, but obligations are obligations. I am a representative of my nation so procedures should be followed..... though i do wish the girls didnt squeeze my gut out of me. Its rather suffocating....

"Oh! Wait Chao! How is your dress not burning?

Hm? Good question. I tried to get out of wearing this thing by using my arm as an excuse, but those girls are sharp. The just wrapped my arm with the cloak Desiree gave me. Its not flaring uncontrollably anymore, so its stable... ish. Sorry Desiree, but its gonna be a bit crinkled.

Awww... and i rather liked that thing. Don't worry. You're royal right? You can just reimburse me before we're done and i leave for home... in gold. Gold is the only currency that works everywhere.

One could almost here the money cha chinging in Kaufman's head as she rubbed her fingers together in the universal symbol for dough/ money. While the two were jesting with each other, Chao caught sight of Laleth showing the mechanic a blue print and like a cat, she curiously peeked in. On it was a design for a mechanical limb assistor. From what she heard, it allowed injured limbs to move by assisting its motion, like a splint that could be applied without hindering too much. Desiree, on the other hand, was scanning around for their leader and his company.

Oh... interesting idea. That would work well as a field splint for soldiers.

Man.. where is raven and Luna? Im surprised we're earlier than them...

Peter N. "Pops" Beagle
Impressive Designs

"I'm working on something, actually, with one of you mechanics. Hold on I'll show you."

Watching Laleth try to pull something out of her knapsack made the man curious. He also noticed Chao who was also peeking into the design herself. What came was a notebook full of drawings and notes in sloppy handwriting. It made the 40-something year old man smile. She looked barely like a teenager and yet she already had the trappings to be an engineer or a mechanic.

"I think I'll call it the assist-o-matic. I told one of the people to work on it for me."

Laleth handed Pops the drawings, which was an autonomous crutch, allowing the user to move their injured limbs by assisting in motion, whilst not further damaging or causing pain to walk on said limb. It was revolutionary, even by Realm of Light standards.

Oh... interesting idea. That would work well as a field splint for soldiers.

"I agree. I think the concept can very well be made. I'd be happy to help in making it for you."

Raven Otsdarva, Elaine Chevalier and Luna Thermidor
Proper Officers

Theme-Defenders of the Realm

The elevator opened up to see some of the banter going about in the hangar between Laleth, Chao, Desiree and Pops talking about something. As Raven and Luna stepped out, decked in their fresh black uniforms and Raven holding on to the officer's cap under his arm, he gave the others a slight smile. "Hey everybody." Raven said sheepishly. If Chao was a bit cramped in her outfit, Raven must feel stiff in his so called 'Monkey Suit.' "Ugh, this feels so humiliat-" Raven mumbled to himself as he tugged on the collar, causing Luna to elbow him to the side lightly, and interrupted him by saying, "Your dress looks lovely Chao. Anyway, I believe it's time we should be on our way. Don't you think?"

"Isn't Elaine coming with you?"
Pops said, not concerned, but curious.

"She is. She should be arriving any sec-"

"I'm here."
Elaine said, cutting Luna off. Unlike her friends, she was dressed in a white uniform with long sleeves, her epaulets of her ranking as Gunny Sergent. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah, I assume Tsuki isn't coming?" Raven said calmly at Luna, to which she said, "Still out cold, don't know when he'll wake up."

"Good, I don't know what he'll think seeing me like this."
Raven said, looking at his uniform. "Stop complaining and let's go." Luna said as she began to walk forward. The ray shields were shut off as the doors started to open, a large part of the panel, probably constituting a fourth of the hangar itself would slowly drop down until it angled out to the surface of the airport of Disney Castle, it seemed a large car, enough to fit the team was ordered for them, each corner having the flag of the Union of the Realm of Light, a blue and white flag split evenly in half along the horizontal plain with a series of blue and white stars on the opposing colors of the background. It would be Pops who would help to wheel Laleth down the ramp so she doesn't wind up picking up speed and crashing into something, last thing anyone needs is for her to get injured even more.

Chao and Kaufman

"Your dress looks lovely Chao. Anyway, I believe it's time we should be on our way. Don't you think?"

You can have it. In fact, wanna swap now?

Joking aside, the entire team was pretty much present, besides those that are incapacitated on the ship. Her friends were all decked out in snappy looking military dress uniform. With the arrival of Raven, Eliane and Luna, the hanger bay doors swung open, revealing the sleek ship that will be ferrying them, all shiny and dressed in R.o.L colours.

Well... lets get to it then. It wouldnt do to keep the King and Queen waiting, nor the others that will be attending.

Haha, well, you knwo what they say. The main characters always arrive late.

Chuckling, Kaufman made her way first towards the ship, now with its door swung open. Now that she took a better look at her, Kaufman, whilst her outfit was freshly cleaned and pressed, was still what she wore usually. Rather smart, but somewhat more casual than should be expected for such an event. Chao took a seat next to Kaufman, taking several seconds longer to just adjust her outfit to sit properly and so that she wouldnt ruin her headress and hair.

Ms Kaufman, surely if you had asked, i would have lent you a set of clothes.

Hm...? What are you saying, dear Chao? Are you.... perhaps insinuating that i am making the group look bad?

Whaa? Of course not! I had just assumed you didnt have extra clothes due to the special circumstances you appeared to us in.

Haha. I am joking, princess. I am just a side character. No need to worry about me. In fact, as a mercenary, i dont deserve anything fancy like you guys. You guys are fighting for a purpose beyond personal benefit, unlike me. So dont bother your little head about me.

Chao was worried about the semi detached tone Kaufman had in her though, but left it at that. The woman was so carefree about it that it was hard for Chao to isolate and guess what was running through her head

Raven Otsdarva, Luna Thermidor & Elaine Chevalier
Introduction to the Defense Department

As Luna opened the door and entered the car she was surprised to see the person who was already inside. His attire was remincesent of his homworld, the Land of Dragons, known in Realm of Light Politics as the Golden Dragon Empire, or the Empire of the Dragons for short. He had long greying hair that was tied up in a knot at the top, with electric blue and gold flowing robes on his body. In his hand ironically was a stick, a westernized design with an ornate dragon's handle for a grip, made of brass.

"You must be the members of Task Force 108."
He said with a stern look on his face. Luna responded as soon as Raven began to take Laleth off the wheelchair and help her into the car. "Minister Fa Zhou, I am Second Lieutenant Luna Thermidor. It is an honor to meet you, sir." Luna said calmly, extending her hand, which the old man gripped tightly as he shook it. "A pleasure to meet you as well. You have done your family proud."

Once Laleth entered the car, Elaine would follow suit and enter as well, sitting down beside Luna. Raven would follow shortly thereafter, thus leaving Chao and Desiree to enter. "Hello sir." Raven said calmly, looking at the older figure, while Luna would formally introduce each other. "Minister Fa, this is Captain Raven Otsdarva, commanding officer of the RoL Marine 108th Task Force Detachment, and the red-haired soldier is Gunnery Sergeant Elaine Chevalier. Raven, Elaine, this is Fa Zhou, The Realm of Light Minister of Defense."

As soon as Chao and Desiree entered, they would begin making their way to the Defense Ministry Building.

Laleth sat in the car staring out from her window seat.

All of this talk made no sense to her. She had not idea why these people spoke so formally. She didn't care much to know in the first place. It was the same old adult military what-not stuff as always. Her mind strayed back to the conversation she'd overheard between Miss Chao and Miss Kaufman. Sure Chao was a princess, she had also belonged to royalty, but she admired Kaufman and hearing the woman refer to herself as a side character made Laleth feel odd about her situation.

Am I a side character too? she thought. What exactly did she mean by that? Less important? She pushed the thoughts away and focused on something else. Her mechanical walking device would get her up and running around in no time. Then she wouldn't have to rely on others to help her get places. She couldn't wait to get back to the Normandy after this was all over to try it on.

As the car made it's way to their destination Laleth wondered what sorts of things there were to do once they got there. "Are there any interesting places to go to? I wonder if there's a museum there. I'd definitely want to go see that's there." she said aloud before shifting in her seat towards the others.

OOC: I'll be skipping ahead to the museum and ceremonies, et.al. I hope you do not mind me doing this. Also, as much as I'm going to hate myself, there is a Call of Duty reference somewhere...

Splitting Up For Now

"Are there any interesting places to go to? I wonder if there's a museum there. I'd definitely want to go see that's there."

"I don't mind helping you look around the town Laleth."
Elaine would speak up, much to Fa's stern look of annoyance at both ladies and then at Raven, who silently nodded at them, approving them of the offer. "Minister, would you mind taking Laleth and Elaine to the museum?" Raven asked and the minister nodded "It will be done then."

The drive to the ministry building was largely uneventful, and somewhat awkward in a way, and after a half hour, they would arrive at a building, similar in design to the main buildings back in Olympus, it wouldn't be surprising if there were a few architects that came specifically to work on this building. Raven and Luna would be the first to get out, followed by the Defense Minister. As soon as Chao and Desiree would exit, the vehicle would speed off with Elaine and Laleth towards the museum.

It's All About Prestige

Minister Fa, Raven and the rest of Task Force 108 would enter the Defense Ministry building. Within its walls was a big circular room filled with a series of desks and walk-in offices. The Minister would walk towards the left side of the room, avoiding the tables and the people, who either still working, or staring at them. "I think they're staring at me..." Raven whispered to Luna, to which she responded, "Stop being paranoid and just ignore them." The group would be taken to an off hand corridor filled with several pictures of older people, and creatures. All of them were engraved with names like Chancellor-Sultan Abdul Aziz Agrabahid of Agrabah or Chancellor Ansem "the Wise" of Radiant Garden, and even Chancellor-King Triton of Atlantica as well dates. They were presumably past leaders of the Union of the Realm of Light, and are probably the more recent Chancellors. "Usually we would issue the promotion ceremony here in that room to the right, but due to pressing circumstances we will be holding it in a more private location." Minister Fa spoke, and Raven would nod a little. He was relieved that the ceremony would be met in a more private setting, but for what reason of it, he wasn't sure of. Instead, the Minister would lead the group to a large elevator, where Raven, Luna and the minister entered.

Elaine Chevalier
Haos Civil War Memorial

Meanwhile, the vehicle would begin heading off a little further downtown into Disney Town. It would be there that she would see the various monuments and functions that are going on there. The Disney Obelisk stood towering over a clear plain, lightly dotted with trees that mask the surface. Another monument was the Haos Civil War Memorial, erected in the memory of those fallen during a Civil War that took place over a hundred years ago. "Hey Laleth, mind if we stop there for a bit?" She said, pointing at the memorial.

"I don't mind helping you look around the town Laleth."

"Oh really?" Laleth hadn't expected anyone to accompany her. This was a first. "That would be nice!"

While Laleth had never spent any time with Eliane she didn't seem like such a bad person. However she anticipated the potential awkwardness that could occur between them at any time. That time had come as soon as the others left the vehicle. From then on it was a straight shot through Disney Town.

The monuments were the best parts. There were many things to "Oooh!" and "Aaah" at before the awkwardness she felt had vanished completely. The structures were all very interesting. She even wondered if she could climb to the top of some. "Hey Laleth, mind if we stop there for a bit?"

"Oh?" She hadn't noticed Eliane's interest in a certain memorial. "Wow that place looks nice too. There sure is a lot of stuff out here. Who knew?"

She wheeled herself over near Eliane. " Sure let's go! Are you looking for something in there?" she asked as she began wheeling towards their new destination.

Chao and Kaufman

Most of the Task Force exited the vehicle at the Defense Ministry building, while Laleth and Elaine remaining for Laleth's tour of the city. It was kind of unsettling. Chao couldnt pin down what made her feel uneasy but she had no choice but to continue on. The group made their way passed people and workstations, with a fair few staring at them. It was obviously odd, given that she herself was rather flamboyant and everyone else was in their Class A dress uniform. They continue onwards into a side corridor filled with portraits of important people before the Minister piped up.

"Usually we would issue the promotion ceremony here in that room to the right, but due to pressing circumstances we will be holding it in a more private location."

If she had known, Chao could have somehow convinced the girls to give her a break since there will be less fanfare, but it was too late to complain. Instead, she and Kaufman followed Luna and Raven into the large elevator at the end. While Chao was willing to obey and follow, Desiree wasnt as such.

As much as it is nice and all that we are going to be thanked for our little adventure on Radiant Island, mind me asking for these.... circumstances?

Elaine Chevalier
Remembrance

"Wow that place looks nice too. There sure is a lot of stuff out here. Who knew?"

Elaine giggled a little at that remark as the car drove in the direction of the Civil War Memorial. As they were headed in that direction, she heard Elaine ask. "Sure let's go! Are you looking for something in there?"

"Well, nothing in particular. Just to think back on old memories."
She said to her. Elaine could remember all the times she had been here, and as the car was parked in the parking lot, she would explain herself about the old memories. "When I was little, my parents took me here all the time. They told me fantastical stories of great heroes and evil villains who fought in this war. People who fought to give us hope and freedom from evil."

As Elaine looked up at the monument and chuckled, "It also reminds me of the little time I spent with my family."

Raven Otsdarva & Luna Thermidor
A Surprising Objective

The elevator would stop and the doors opened to reveal a entirely wooden room, with an elongated, oval shaped wooden table at the center, a series of black chairs surrounding it. At one end of the room was a painting of a middle-aged man clad in black robes, surrounded by lights around it. As he stared at the picture, he overheard Desiree speaking with Defense Minister Fa Zhou.

As much as it is nice and all that we are going to be thanked for our little adventure on Radiant Island, mind me asking for these.... circumstances?

"Please be seated so I can explain."
The minister spoke sternly, looking at Desiree with a cold stare, eventually sitting on a seat next to the largest chair. Raven looked back at the Defense Minister who would also take a seat alongside Luna. "So what is this all about anyway?"

"H-Here you go sir."
A voice was heard from the entrance they came in, and as Raven turned around there was a young man, barely in his twenties. He looked quite meek, wearing a white collared shirt and tie, carrying a series of manila file folders in hand. Fa Zhou nodded and said in a stern, lightly harsh tone, "Pass these out to these fine ladies and gentlemen, and hurry up, as we have to finish this business as quickly as possible."

"Y-Yes sir."
The man quickly jumped and then started passing out the file folders to everyone in the room. Once the folders were passed out, the aide bowed and quickly left. The Defense Minister started:

"As you have already known, the Union of the Realm of Light had successfully completed our first major operation as part of the larger campaign to liberate the worlds from the occupation forces belonging to the Heartless Empire. However it was to be a part of a new front. About a week ago, our forces had sent a large military force across the Warp Hole into the Realm of Darkness to begin our advance to the Heartless Imperial Homeworld of Nekros. Now for the first few days of our blitzkrieg into the Realm of Darkness, we've achieved major successes and captured vital worlds, whilst destroying enemy industrial capacities, supply lines and military armories. However during subsequent periods afterwards, the Realm of Light suffered severe losses due to concentrated raids from a Heartless Imperial Battlefleet, and not only managed to retain key worlds to stall our advances, but also launched devastating raids onto Realm of Light occupied worlds and our fleets."

Raven would open the folder, revealing pictures and documents that clearly explained more about the situation. "We have been able to identify the commanding officer of this Imperial Fleet." Interrupting for a bit to clear his voice, Fa Zhou spoke to the group with their new ranks. "Major Otsdarva, First Lieutenant Thermidor, First Lieutenant Fuu, I believe you are familiar with the former Arbiter, are you not?"

Raven was the first to speak on the matter "Yes sir, me, Luna, Chao and Hal all engaged the Arbiter, Dagr Scinfaxi in battle at Unity Islands, but what does that have to do with anything?"

"Because the target, and the reason I have brought you all here today is on the elimination of the fleet and it's leader, according to our reports and information from our spies, we have confirmed the identity is the Arbiter, Nott Hrimfaxi, the younger sister of Scinfaxi."

Raven was taken aback by this news, most likely this woman would be looking for revenge. Just thinking about her made his chest hurt, especially considering all the scars he had suffered from his two battles with Scinfaxi to start with. "Wonderful, and I suppose our objective is to hope we get lucky and be able to defeat her this time?" Raven said sarcastically, unamused by what he felt as a proverbial 'suicide run'

"Your squad is the only one who has been able to defeat a Heartless Arbiter, a feat not done before in centuries. High command feels that your squad is the best suited for that role."

Chao and Kaufman

"Please be seated so I can explain."

The ministers stare at Kaufman was cold enough to solidify water instantly, but it rolled off her. To her, the minister's attitude mattered little. Most likely, her bad reception was mostly due to her being a mercenary of sort and was somewhat distrusted. Within the room that the elevator opened stood a gentlemen in a board meeting like room. There was no other option but to follow suit with Raven and Luna.

"So what is this all about anyway?"

"H-Here you go sir."

"Pass these out to these fine ladies and gentlemen, and hurry up, as we have to finish this business as quickly as possible."

"Y-Yes sir."

Within these folders were data and intel onkey military information and people.

"We have been able to identify the commanding officer of this Imperial Fleet. Major Otsdarva, First Lieutenant Thermidor, First Lieutenant Fuu, I believe you are familiar with the former Arbiter, are you not?"

For Chao, that name was not one to forget. It too the cumulative effort of the entire team to bring him down and their first clash left Chao feeling the worst she has ever been for a long time. However, bringing him up now gave her a bad churn in her gut.

"Yes sir, me, Luna, Chao and Hal all engaged the Arbiter, Dagr Scinfaxi in battle at Unity Islands, but what does that have to do with anything?"

Indeed. It was not pleasant to say the least.

"Because the target, and the reason I have brought you all here today is on the elimination of the fleet and it's leader, according to our reports and information from our spies, we have confirmed the identity is the Arbiter, Nott Hrimfaxi, the younger sister of Scinfaxi."

So... an assassination is it? It has come to this then....

"Wonderful, and I suppose our objective is to hope we get lucky and be able to defeat her this time?"

As much as i shy away from defeatist talk... this mission is... well... close to nigh suicide.

"Your squad is the only one who has been able to defeat a Heartless Arbiter, a feat not done before in centuries. High command feels that your squad is the best suited for that role."

Kaufman, who has been holding on talking raised her hand to get some attention.

Excuse me. While i have intentions of following my comrades into the mission, I sincerely do hope you aren't hoping for the "minimal loss for greater good" angle. Unless you have plans, including extraction, that are more than just hoping for a miracle, i am inclined to suggest my friends in refusing this mission. From the data here, they barely came out from their last tangle. How is the squad suppose to survive after the fight, in the middle of their fleet and most likely within their flagship?

Kaufman wasn't afraid of the Defense Minister. She wasn't within their ranks, unlike her friends, but was a mercenary. Insubordination didn't really apply to her, so she felt it was her job to speak up for the safety of her friends since she had no fear for any real repercussion
