Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

I froze all the C4 time to go see what the Fatman wants ye. Raiden is more fun to play as than Snake because CARTWHEELSCARTWHEELSCARTWHEELSCARTWHEELSCARTWHEELSCARTWHEELS.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

So it took me a good six hours to fully download and install 25 gigabytes worth of assets with the student housing internet before I came back home. I wasn't actually anticipating it would take that long while I hit the download and account creation buttons at a whim, because it was at that particular hour in the afternoon I had a KOTOR itch I wanted to scratch. I remembered that EA very recently decided to hit the RETREAT, RETREAT!! button and allowed a F2P account option to play through the game, minus the Rise of the Hutt Cartel content at the moment, so I thought: why not?

Within two hours of starting up my Sith Inquisitor character who looks like a 6'5" Oriental guy with ridiculous ginger streaks of hair on his head, I noticed some chat in the top left corner that went from "plz revive me some1" to someone eventually saying in response after considerable back-and-forth: "how bout u go revive ur mother after i was done wiv her?". It was a nice reminder that this is in fact, an MMO, and my third foray into the genre. Sure, I've tried Runescape and *sigh* Free Realms, but I could only put 5-10 minutes on them before I bailed.

It could be my laptop. It could be my crappy internet. It could even be the servers. Or even EA nerfing it that much for F2P peasant players. It's been an unpleasant glitch-fest for me so far. I would be stuck in combat mode, yet nothing is actually happening between me and my targetted opponent. I can't kill him, he can't kill me, and since the game treats me as being in combat mode, I can't quite run for the hills without finding invisible walls. or even quit the game. The second glitch has been common. I can't unsheathe my sword, use certain abilities, or go very far without an invisible war saying hi to me.

I'm not looking to get into SWTOR. I was just trying it out. I can't say I've done much. I've not even interacted with any other player, preferring to go and Force Lightning opponents on my own. I'm pretty sure that's not the point of an MMO, but that's Bioware for you. Rather than a KOTOR 3, hey! Let's play an MMO and say it can be like KOTOR 3, 4, 5 and onwards!

The boyfriend and I are starting The Last Of Us tomorrow. (y)

Also currently playing this for what will be my third play-through.

Woah, me too! Well, actually I finished ME1 and ME2 and now I'm roughly halfway through ME3, but still I find it interesting that several of us are playing through this series at once now that it's no longer new.

But what's occupying most of my time is Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3! I got it on PSN back when it was on sale for $5, and it's basically the best $5 I've ever spent. Never played a SMT/Persona game before, but I am absolutely loving the game. Pretty sure I put in 8 hours over the weekend, which is a lot for me.

I'm currently playing Final Fantasy Origins I On Normal Mode, if you guys know, is there something im doing wrong? I am lv 34, my party consists of Knight, White Wiz, Black Wiz, And Ninja, and i always end up having nothing left to heal myself after i beat the kraken at the temple of chaos, i am an avid gamer, ive played FF6-FF9, And FF4, Chrono Trigger, etc, but this is harder than anything ive ever come across, i know NES games are harder but...

What am I playing?

Oh... that is right. I recently took a blow to the head(not really) and started to think it is time to get into Street Fighter again. I downloaded the games on demand version of Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition 2012.

Why? Capcom were having a sale and I could not miss this chance to learn some more Street Fighter. For a mere 1040 Microsoft points, it sure was an amazing deal. I say amazing with a bit of sarcasm because there are a few flaws. I had to download the game about 5 times to make it work. Some characters make the game freeze...(Makoto and Rose atm) Not sure what is wrong with the GoD version... but it sure as hell was annoying.

I saved about 35 bucks upon buying this version. Street Fighter is one of the harder fighting games out there to learn, but I sure am glad that I am not rock bottom.

Other than the "glitches" the game was a really good deal.

It feels good to land some hard combos that require really strict timing and all that shit. My Juri is really bad atm and not as good as she used to be..... I can blame myself for selling the previous version a few years back.

Experimenting with characters should be fun and I hope to learn more as I go along. I also recently watched EVO 2013... so that sort of made me jump back into the fighting genre.

I am just waiting on Tales of Xillia atm.

Ok, so we've had a Steam summer sale. Therefore, I bought the following for reeeeeally cheap: Fez, Cthulhu Saves The World and Civilization V. I've only played Cthulhu so far and I have to say that I'm loving it. Sure, it's just a dumbed down game in the style of the old FF games (8 bit), but it's fun. It comes to something when something like this beats a huge blockbuster like FF13 :/ . It was under a quid too for this and Breath of Death VII (oh, I got that too by accident).

Phoenix Wright 2 - I'm now on the final case and am still loving the game. I think the first game had the better cases overall, but not by too much. Loved them both so much. I played both PW1 and 2 for Wiiware years ago, but I've forgotten pretty much everything about them. I've got the 3rd PW game here too, which I'll be starting right away once I finish this.

Oracle of Seasons - Got to love this game. It can be confusing finding the dungeons sometimes, but meh, it's an excuse to explore the world map. Typical 2D Zelda where you visit 8 dungeons for 8 important items and then head for the final boss dungeon. I'll go for Ages next, which I think is the better of the two (I played them both aaaaages ago for th GBC (well...GBA)).

Last of Us - Surprisingly not as good as I was hoping. The whole opening was amazing, but the next couple of hours have been disappointing. I'm not a huge fan of stealth though to be fair...who wants to be hiding behind boxes/tables, waiting for an enemy to walk past for minutes at a time? The story is good though. I actually care about the girl, which I didn't really expect at all. I think I need to get further than 3ish hours in to properly judge this game :hmmm:

I'm pretty much just bouncing around and playing each of the games in the Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection. Why did I buy this when I already owned each game that came with it (minus the digital graphic novels and VR missions)? Because I'm obsessive and sad. I shamefully wanted to buy the HD collection when it came out but convinced myself not to. But when they announced they were rereleasing all of the canon games (except for Portable Ops because Kojima apparently has pride issues) I basically screamed "take my money" and ordered it the day it came out and I'm now playing through all of them. I've got other games I should beat. But...I really have no excuse. :sad3:

Also, when I find the ability to pry myself away from that, I try my hand at Person 2. I really want to play this game. But I'm having difficulty getting into it. I don't know why.

The steam summer sale just finished up, so I ended up buying the following games, Skyrim, Bastion, Half Minute Hero, Tomb Raider, Last Rement and Sonic Generations (for the third time!)

anyway, on PS3 I am starting to try and finish up Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch as after this, my JRPG backlog is cleared and ready for Tales of Xillia in a few weeks.

On Vitra/PSP, I am replaying Persona 3 Portable, as I have nothing to play really, I am also playing the first Corpse Party, it a really good game, but the fact that you can end up with a wrong end in so many ways makes you rage at the game, making it lose alot of it creepyness :(

My psp and vita will be put down however as i'm getting Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, from my rental service, this is the second time i'm getting it as i never got a chance to play it the first time around as I got it around a time when university was getting really busy

I found some pretty good RPG's on my phone for a good price while I was trying to get the first four final fantasies on it instead they just won't me pay to my bill so I have to get a Google play card! Anyways I'm currently playing Symphony of Eternity and Zenonia both good games with pretty good reviews

I'm currently playing FF IV and I'm loving it. I personally think this game is pretty difficult myself. Even despite doing my share of level grinding I have still encountered a few bosses that take me to the wood shed 2 or 3 times until I figure out how to beat them. Which I will say it has irritated the absolute hell out of me, but it's nice to see that this game actually does take some strategy in fights and makes you have to take the time to level your characters. I'm actually level grinding as we speak. I'm not trying to fight Leviathan being level 38 lmfao.

Final Fantasy 7. After debating in the LTD...well, I said to myself, "Hey - haven't played this game in a while," and went ahead and started it. I missed it, lol. I think I remember telling myself that I would play and beat it at least once every year, as it was my first and is my favorite FF, but growing up means more responsibilities and changes in interests, so I didn't do what I originally thought I would.

Just want to add - playing FF7 now, I wonder why I liked it so much? LOVE, actually. Actually, playing it now makes me wonder why I even started to like RPG's because now when I play FF7 or others, they're boring because of the grinding through dungeons and bosses before getting back to the story. FF7, now, is a bit boring for me. But I still like it? Confusing, I know.

Just finished Ultimate Ninja Storm. Kind of a funky game. I am immediately annoyed by how Sasugay is the best character in the game followed by Sage Mode Naruto and Itachi. Fourth Hokage was extremely underwhelming. Kind of makes you wonder why any other characters were put in the game. I mean I guess a few of the others weren't that bad, but Sasuke and Itachi both have really strong secret techniques that can be initiated almost immediately and Naruto will gain the ability to use his secret technique from range with the Rasen Shuriken card, but for some reason they decided to change that for Sage Mode Naruto who gets the same treatment as all of the other characters that are not really worth playing.

I guess Killer Bee didn't turn out so bad, but it just feels kind of shitty to go and put things out that way.

I am currently playing Project X zone and Tales of Xillia. A free roam rpg (TOX) and a strategy rpg( P X Z)

Project X Zone: It is a good game. I think it has a really confusing story though.. since characters literally appear out of nowhere. I have no idea what is going on most of the time. The dialog is funny, and so is so many different characters meeting each other from other worlds. The gameplay is alright I guess. I guess I dont like the fact enemies do not attack in battle. The Same goes for bosses... and they only ever counter attack or attack from the field. I am on chapter 24 atm (24 hours in) and it is getting much more annoying and harder. The game starts off extremely easy and then gets harder because of different missions. The later ones even have a time limit.

I bought the game mostly to play as KOS-MOS. Why? I really do miss my favourite video game character. Kinda sucks I had to get to chapter 17 ish to get her. =[

Tales of Xillia: There was really nothing else to pick up for my birthday. I have been waiting for this game to be localized for so long. The game is going rather well. I am 9 hours in and I am enjoying it quite a bit. I want to punch Hideo Baba for deciding Teepo would get to talk :hmph: Seriously! Have you heard Teepo talk? He fucking annoys me to no end! My favourite character is Milla so far and I assume it will stay that way.

Jude does not come off to me as a whiny brat like Luke was in tales of the abyss. I think his character is a nice change from the whiny brats. I hope he does not turn whiny and stays with his innocence and politeness. It has a great battle system and I like how each character has unique abilities. That is it for now. The story seems alright.... but I do think it will become predictable like other tales games. The Menu tells you what sub events are happening(I thought that was nice because I hate using guides)

The game Seems rather easy even on hard difficulty. I did not even die as a full party yet. It just seems ridiculously easy compared to other tales games. I am hoping I am wrong in the long run. Teepo(enough said) Lillium orbs(ff xiii crystarium) They just make characters easy to develop. I would have loved a simple level up system like previous tales games.

Overall it is enjoyable. The side content does feel a bit lacking though.

Oh and that main theme is just beautiful. I like it very much. I think the only characters I hate so far are Teepo and Ivar.

I'm also playing Xillia, though I'm only about 4 hours in. Can't complain about any part of the game, in all honesty. Yes, it's a little slow so far, but that's what JRPGs are normally like; slow and relaxing. I'm liking the three characters I have so far. The soundtrack fits the game. The battle system is addictive. Happy days.

Also: Oracle of Ages. I've just made it to the fourth dungeon and still love it as much as I used to. Nayru's song is so good :gonk:...so sad for someone with such a huge duty.

Ace Attorney:Trials and Tribulations. Not quite as good as the other two so far imo (I'm only three cases in) but it's still pretty great. Looking forward to playing this more ;)

After some reluctance, I've been playing a crap tonne of AC3 lately, aiming for the platinum. Some of the sync missions are a bloody bitch, especially when you're playing as Haytham and have to assault that fort. I manage to get all the optional objectives and wipe out all the guards off to the right as you enter the place but the dumbos over by the docks get me every bloody time. It's pure annoying. I tried tackling the online as well but the first match I played lasted only 30 seconds, and I got whacked from behind before I could think, how broken is that like? I'm also eying up that Tyranny of Washington DLC but standing at €30+, I'm not so keen on getting it, at least at this moment in time.

Skyrim! I started it the night that I got it and now I am very much hooked on it. I'm only on level 5, but everything is still very fun. Without giving away too much, I will say that I have finished about 4 quests already, and I have about 5 more waiting for me. Things are getting interesting now. :ohoho:

Assassin's Creed 3

Possibly against my better judgement, I decided to impulsively pick this one up, despite my distaste for the setting. I loved the Renaissance setting of the Ezio games to death because of the architectural fascination and how well-realised the cities of Florence, Venice and Rome are in the games. I don't expect to click with the colonial setting, but I've an Ass Creed itch at the moment, and I figured I would gamble on AC3 for £15 despite its public maligning online.

And uhh, it's such a dull start. Okay, bear with me here. I know the previous games have had you do dull tutorial segments before Ubisoft could let rip and toss the player into a vast historical playground as a very conspicuous guy with a hood and armed to the teeth. This game is no exception to the usual tutorial segments to ease players into the game, even though most players would already be familiar with at least one earlier Ass Creed game and how they play, but this has got to be one of the least engaging and slowest introductions to a game I have seen and played through in a long while.

Begin! I play as Desmond. Fair enough, usual tutorial sections to let new players in on basic parkour. Oh wait, I'm playing as this swag British guy with that hat. Ah, let me slowly find my opera theatre seat before climbing balconies and uhh, oh, a lockpicking bit. Either I did it wrong (and yet still got the door open), or this is going to be one of the worst lockpicking mechanics in a game. I felt like I had to contort my fingers as if they're playing Twister using the Dualshock 3 controller face as the mat. Afterwards, I'm on a boat, and it lasts for quite a bit. There are some unpleasant folks I have to talk to and fight with. There are ropes that need strengthening and winding. Land ho! I'm in Boston, and it's still slow. Gun training, group assembly, awkward stealth, a variety of other dull things I've forgotten, CHARACTER CHANGE AT LAST! Conor is a little kid, and we're playing hide and seek before this hilariously cartoonish bad guy threatens him with some of the most overwritten villain lines I've seen in fiction.

...ugh, I stopped there. It's been several hours into the game and the tutorial is refusing to retire, because it continues time and time again to (re)remind me of some basic gameplay mechanics as if I'm suffering from a chronic short-term memory failure. And with Kid!Conor, God knows how much longer I need to go before I can properly play the game. Come on, Ubisoft, what is with introductions to basic gameplay mechanics being so awfully drawn out, repeated and seemingly neverending? Or am I just unusually intolerant all of a sudden to excessively slow introductions? Eeek.

I'll certainly persevere, if only to hope that the frontier regions of the game are the most entertaining bits to make up for the breathtakingly lame cities.

Final Fantasy X

Reminding myself of the routes, levelling up system, paths to take etc ready for FFX|X-2 HD soon, just got auron.... which is epic because ayron kills everything on site :P

Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention on my Vita. Currently in the early stages of post-game grind...meaning I'm doing House of Ordeals over and over, one-shotting enemies with Big Bang, so I have characters strong enough to get through a Legendary Item World and, eventually, into the Land of Carnage. Christ, I hate this part of the game; it's that annoying stage between playing the story normally and being overwhelmingly broken. So much effort. I wanted to plat this before D2 came out; that is NOT going to happen, not unless I drop everything else and focus exclusively on it. Since I opt to take my 3DS with me to work - Animal Crossing is an ideal game to play on the train, and I have half a dozen virtual console titles from the GBA era I've not finished - and I like to play my PS3 in the evening...yeeeah. Maybe if it was Disgaea 4...which is getting a Return port to Vita next year as well. Sigh.
