[V2] Last Movie You've Seen

Kick-Ass

It was pretty kick ass itself (no pun intended). I'd wanted to see it because it was highly recomended at the time, but never thought anything of it at the time and merely didn't see it due to having no one to go to the cinema with. But I saw it this afternoon and I was pretty impressed, especially with the young girl's performance. This may have gathered some controversy for violence with an 11-year-old, but I liked it. It had a decent storyline, hilarious characters and a wonderful conclusion. I do hope there's a sequel, this has so much potential.

I watched DESPICABLE ME last night and afterwards MEGAMIND (but fell in sleep so doesnt count)

I cant stand Steve Carell in general, but he did an amazing voice over in despicable me,,with his funny accent. He is a evil scientist but eventually gets a warm heart.

Very funny and moving, one scene gave me tears..

9/10
Slow start but it will suck you in later.
Peace out..

Grown Ups

So, the direction wasn't all there, but the comedy of David Spade, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and Rob Schnider is definitely a great add-on. It had a very modern feel, and what can I say, with a comedy cast of that calibar, you can't help but shut up, enjoy, and laugh your ass off. :lew:.

Overall a good movie with plenty of laughs.

Sucker Punch - 10/10

Amazing fucking movie, over-the-top action and a joy to watch. The stylized action scenes were amazing, the music was epic (especially one of my favorite songs ever, "Army of Me" by Bjork :jess:), and all the fantasy elements and great visual effects made what could've easily been a boring story into an awesome one. I really hope no one sees it described anywhere as "
girl tries to escape mental institution
" and thinks it will be too boring to watch, because that's simplifying it to the extreme and they would be missing out. Epic, epic movie. Also, there wasn't really any unnecessary indulgent sexual content like I had been expecting--the girls were all dressed scantily throughout much of the movie (actually I would love to own the outfits from the
fantasy war
scenes though because they looked badass), but there weren't any sex scenes or anything, it was mostly an action movie. The only thing I didn't like was that in one scene, they (spoilers)
killed a baby dragon that I thought was kind of cute, but I know a lot of people don't think dragons are cute so I don't think it was meant to be disturbing on purpose, I guess it was just a poor graphical choice. And the girl did look a bit upset about having to do it, so it didn't really ruin the whole movie or anything.
But anyway, yeah, I would definitely recommend this movie. The ending was a bit surprising as well.

Boondock Saints.

It's a huge cult movie, if that's not an oxymoron, and I don't think it is. It's similar to Tarantino movies, but better in my opinion, firstly because when the director is infront of the camera he doesn't speak and you don't notice him, unlike Tarantino, who is a terrible actor. Secondly, the violence is done much better than in any Tarantino movie, it's very OTT, it reminded me a little of Desperado, the Rodriguez one, not the one by the Eagles.
It's a vigilante movie, two American Irish guys decide to kill all the baddies. the film doesn't say whether they're right to do so, they let the audience decide, literally.

Sucker Punch

I know it's been some months since I've posted here, I've been gone a while due to my uncle's death situation and now my other uncle is getting out of prison in April and has no idea his brother is dead yet, so it's been hard and it feels like I'm never gonna get a break from traumatic shit in my life. Anyways, speaking of disturbed souls I got around to the movies and saw Sucker Punch, a movie I've been very eager to see for some months and I was NOT disappointed by any means. It was an action packed movie with great visuals making it into a tense dark story. I won't give too much away since it is still fairly new. I will say though the soundtrack was very good, it had probably one of the best covers of The Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" song and The Smiths "Asleep" song done surprising enough by Emily Browning. Emily's versions were a bit more dramatic sounding than the originals, kinda like what Gary Jules did to the 1982 Tears For Fears song "Mad World." I've been reading through movie critic reviews and all I can say is fuck the critics. See for yourself and make your own judgment. I personally liked it but that's just me.

The Astronaut's Wife

Not what I was expecting going into it. I thought it was just going to be a romance movie. What I got was a sci-fi thriller. Not bad, but not all that great either. It was average and relatively forgettable.

Movie: Man Vs Wild

Rating: M

Comments: More of a documentary than a movie but it was so awesome watching how he made his way through Siberia in -20degrees temperature.

He skinned a deer and used the skin as a tabogan and then cooked up the meat for dinner.

He caught squirrels for lunch and showed how to make a quick shelter in 15 minutes in case of a snow storm etc.

It was so good! We still haven't got half way through it yet either!

Went to go see this on Thursday for my dad's birthday. It messes with your mind at first and it feels like a repeated cycle, but things seem to make sense when you get halfway through the film. The lead actor was great in this and was really convincing in his role. It was sad that he had
died before the film, but lovely that he got a second chance in a parallel world in Sean's body instead with Christina.
I'd recommend this to anyone wanting a challenging film to see.

Wristcutters: A love story

A story about an afterlife reserved only for those who kill themselves. Not so much depressing as it is boring. Like the title suggests, it is a love story. I thought the idea behind it was kind of interesting but the actual film was quite shit.

Zombie Strippers!

I can't really put a rating on it since it had a lot of boobs in it, but it was one of those movies that when you have two tvs on and you're playing video games on one of them, you glance over at it every now and then just because there's boobs or someone is about to die.

sucker punch

oh my christ, it's good. it was obviously a fantastically written script, and the whole style suited zack snyder very well. it wasn't one of those movies that tries to make you guess where everything is going from the beginning, but makes you think back on things when you get to the end. you definitely need to see it more than once to understand how the different worlds fit together.
the acting isn't great by a long shot, from any of the cast, but it isn't a film about the characters or their development so it gets away with that. what is great though, is the soundtrack. if you listen to the songs without knowing their context in the film, it's not that great but every song works so well in its relevant scene.

sadly its been released far too early for it to be considered for oscar nominations.

Wheels on Meals

No, the titles in the right order. It's an early Jackie Chan film and my God it's awesome. Granted, it's kinda slow, but the fight scenes, especially the last one is amazing so it's easy to bear with just because you know the pay off is gonna be epic.

The Evil Dead

It's a comedy/horror movie made on almost no budget at all. It's not scary at all, but there are some nice creepy bits at the beginning. It's a very good movie, it's a lot of fun. What it does best is the comedic/digusting nature of the violence. There's blood and guts and pus and gore all over the place.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1

The story continues...............

Well, it actually was a good film. They somewhat kept with the details of the book(and I say somewhat with great empathy).
Sadly the final book was cut into 2 films(Deathly Hallows Part 2 comes out on July 15th, Huzzah!!!).
Hopefully Part 2 will be as good as Part 1.

I really enjoyed the fact that they kept my favorite part of Deathly Hallows in the 1st film(the part in the book where Harry and Hermione go to Godric's Hollow on Christmas Eve and lay the wreaths on his parents graves).

I really hope that in DH Part 2 that the final battle scene will be badass ie. lots of blood!!!!!

Movie: Rachel Getting Married

Rating: M

Comments: It was on T.V. last night and it was pretty boring. =/

It had Anne Hathaway in it as a junkie who was the sister of Rachel.

Pretty much revolved her getting out of rehab again and how she seemed to ruin everyones lives and then sulk and be an attention whore. XD

Her dad was the only one who ever seemed to give in to her patheticness and try and comfort her.

In the end everyone hugged etc and it was meant to be a nice ending but I just thought it was strange.

It also was filmed as though someone was running around filming with a handheld recorder as well, which made it hard to watch.

Score: 5/10

PG-13

I thought the premise behind the story was pretty interesting and the twist at the end interested me further. However, I think the story could have ended earlier than it did or rather if a certain scene was taken out of the movie, it would have made it more interesting. The movie itself was not that great, but it was enjoyable. I'd give it an 8/10.

Avatar.

If you haven't seen it, go kill yourself or watch it.

...but not really, just go watch it if you haven't. :wacky:

There's not a lot to say about it, but it was just amazing, I enjoyed it all the way through. I don't think I've been this pleased with a film since Scarface.

My friend told me he got to see it in IMAX 3D, and honestly I feel robbed watching it on a 32-inch monitor knowing that it gets better.

I also watched Jackass 3D and The Onion Movie. I didn't really care for the onion movie, but Jackass 3D was hilarious, it had me laughing my ass off and got my stomach churning for the duration of the film.

All of that + the new pizza place in town made for an amusing night. Fuckin' A, man.

Fuckin' A

The Warriors Way

Western Ninja Fantasy Action.

Its about a ninja who want to be the strongest warrior. His clan has a dispute/war with a other clan. He killed all of them solo. Except 1 remains. A baby. He couldnt kill the baby cause it smiled at him. He abandoned his clan and was thus branded a traitor. Death sentence. He and the baby took off to the west to meet an old friend.

Action packed with many cliche's ...but Ninja's and drunken cowboys is epic win..

Loved the battle scenes. Considering its also a fantasy dont take the battle scenes too seriously. The battles were a lil bit short but still epic.

East meets West.

9/10.....Great movie IMO.

Goodbye Lenin

It's a German film set in east Berlin about a mother who has a heart attack and slips into a coma. While she is in the coma she misses the fall of the Berlin wall. When she wakes up, her son is worried that the shock of everything that has changed could cause another heart attack, so he goes out of his way to convince her that everything is still the same.

Reading up on the plot, it seemed ridiculous to me. So I was kind of expecting an outrageous comedy. But it was actually quite emotional and serious, it had some pretty funny moments but I wouldn't say that it was purely a comedy. Overall I guess I enjoyed it; it was just different to what I expected. I thought the storyline was quite original too.
