[V2] Last Movie You've Seen

Epic movie

..................

I liked what they tried to do, how they mixed the movies, but the humor sucked so bad. The only thing that was funny were the branches in the narnia closet hitting their face. The rest was blaaah, I didn´t laugh, only shook my head a few times.
Normally I would stop the movie, but since I was curious what other spoof of a movie would come I kept watching.

I rate this movie a 2/10

Mr. Nobody

Jared Leto makes shit music but I gotta hand it to him, he has been in some pretty good movies. This movie was by far one of the trippiest movies I've seen in a while, but I loved it. I liked how it didn't even make an attempt to be linear and it just kept going off on tangents. It was a breath of fresh air compared to the predictable 'boy meets girl' storylines. It had some nice themes and motifs chucked in there too. I particularly liked the beginning with the kid as a narrator.

My only criticism would be that it seemed a bit drawn out. But at the same time I thought that part of it's charm was that it was difficult to determine when it was going to end. Generally it is quite evident when a film is coming to a close, but I didn't see the end coming until the last 10 or so minutes.

10/10

inception - thought it was really good, one that you have to pay attention to, which is sometimes quite tricky when you're me! Held my attention all the way through though and the ending was a bit of a wtf moment for me lol

scream 4. Was pretty good. Nothing new, but watchable all the same. Must admit though, the only time I jumped out of my seat was when one of the guys walked into a hanging basket...

The Tracey Fragments

I typically find artsy movies to be relatively interesting but this movie was a major bore. It was actually entertaining for a bit but quickly turned incredibly...ugh. I think it was just the over the top attempt at making a "new age" style movie. It has this really weird style of filming that actually gets annoying at time. I think if it hadn't been for that and make the flow of the movie a little less... ugh-ish it would've been better. Meh, I'd say it's average. I guess if you're a huge fan of these types of movies.

5/10

The Evil Dead

It was very good. Outstanding considering the tiny budget and that it was Sam Reimi's first film, I think. It was funny and thoroughly disgusting, all the bodily fluids looked repulsive, which is exactly how they should have looked. I don't think it was as good as Evil Dead 2, which I thought was a lot funnier, but I laughed quite a bit.

Eraserhead

What...the...fuck? This was without a doubt the most surreal film I've ever seen. I found it quite disturbing (probably Lynch's intention). The way it was shot and pieced together reminded me of a nightmare in the sense that it was bizarre and the plot seemed unorganized (in addition to the overall disturbing nature of it).

To be honest I'm not sure if I liked it or not, on the one hand I probably wouldn't want to watch it again but on the other hand I can't help but appreciate the whole bizarreness of it all.

A Nightmare on Elm Street-

This is the remake (the newest one that they released)...and I watched this yesterday. It mostly gives background for the previous movies.

Most of the movie has regrettably been done before...down to the classic bathtub scene. The gore factor was alright...the acting was pretty ridiculous/as in horrible...although Kellan Lutz was fun enough to watch for awhile. Freddy was revamped a bit from his original form...and the effects were pretty decent.

This was a fun watch...just don't expect to see anything you haven't already seen before from a Freddy movie :gasp:

Movie: Fast and Furious 5
Comments: Man i loved this film, it was amazing, the chase through the Favela, the Four identical cop car drag race, Vin Diesel Vs The rock in a fist fight, it was action paacked and i loved it
Rating: 12a i think
Score: 15/10 (i loved it so much)

A Scanner Darkly

I remember when this movie came out in theaters, I was very confused on what it was about exactly. I saw it for the first time yesterday once my interest in works by Philip K. Dick rekindled my interest in the movie. The movie moves at a sort of slow pace, but it was pretty thought provoking overall.

Thor!!!!!!!!

This movie surprised me. It was way better than I expected. Especially Heimdall (Gatekeeper) was brilliant even though he isnt black in the original mythology. I missed action though..not enough action as I wanted more. I have to say it has good humour in it..super action and well written drama scenes..It might feel rushed at times but it fits well together. I saw it in 3D and enjoyed ..This movie surprised me.

And damn the destroyer is more scary than the pyramid head.

Bring it On.

7/10

I saw it on TV last night. I hadn't seen it since high school but I still love the movie. I noticed some flaws that I hadn't when I was younger. (Like where the fuck are all the coaches!) But I still enjoyed it.

Summer Wars

I was quite surprised by this...it was almost exactly like the second Digimon movie, in terms of plot and art style (done by the same director, I believe) and it even had virtual anthropomorphic bunnies. Bits of it made hardly any sense to me - Japanese culture - and the ending "battle" was rather anticlimactic, but despite that, I really enjoyed it. The family drama side of the movie was really good, the dubbing was above-average, and the soundtrack was INCREDIBLE. Not to mention I liked the second Digimon movie. I'd give it a 7/10 and casual recommendation to anyone looking to watch a good anime film.

Memories of Murder.

It's a South Korean thriller based upon some murders that took place in Korea in the late 80s to the early 90s. It's really good, I enjoyed it a lot, the atmosphere the director manages to create is perfect. The film is able to make things that would otherwise be cliches seem very fresh and realistic. It was quite funny in places and sad in others. It is so much better than any Hollywood thriller. It's a great movie.

A Few Good Men - The courtroom drama that's famous for spawning the line "You can't handle the truth." Jack Nicholson gives a stunning performance as always and Tom Cruise is even bearable in it.

8/10

and

Tombstone - Absolutely brilliant film, Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp was an excellent choice and he really gives a good performance, but the real thing that shines about this film is Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday, he's a T.B sufferer, constantly drunk and can sometimes can't even stand, which for some reason all seem to make him more badass; he's also damn hilarious.

10/10

Mega Mind: The trailer totally lied, but I liked the movie. Many parts had me cracking up and I liked the story. It had a great sound track too. I also liked it better than Despicable Me. It did have it's Dreamworks cliches though, like ending the movie with dancing and their pop culture references that will date the movie.

8/10

Movie: Fast and Furious Five

Comments: Epic, simply epic, this is definately the best F&F movie to date, Diesel, Walker, Ludacris, Tyrese. everyone who was brillaint in the previous movies return making this movie, well, EPIC. not gonna spoil any of the story just go see it, don't wait for the DVD or Blu Ray or Don't even download it until you have experienced it in the cinema! The onlu thing that spoiled it was the twist after the credits.

Rating: 9.5/10

Inception

This is one of those movies that leaves you thinking, it explores the human psyche a lot more deeply than I was expecting, and provides a lot of food for thought. Once I got my head around the premise of this film, I found it to be engrossing and I was completely captivated throughout the entire thing. I'm usually unsure about films that end with such ambiguity, however I felt that it was fitting here. The acting was superb as well, strong performances all round, I felt that Marion Cottilard might have over done it at times just a tad, but that's being nit picky.

Overall, I'd give this film 9/10, certainly worth a look for most sci-fi fans. In my opinion, this is a lot more interesting than the Matrix ever was, despite obvious similarities.

Pirates 4. I really liked the movie, maybe even more so than Pirates 2 and 3. I hope they make a part five. I liked Angelica's character better than Elizabeth.

Overall 8/10

Just came back from X-Men: First Class

I'm not sure what I was expecting going into the movie. I'm not a hardcore Marvel/X-Men fan, so maybe it doesn't mean much coming from me, but I did like the movie.

As the name suggests, the movie was basically a prequel to establish Magneto's character and to a lesser extent, Professor X. I really enjoyed seeing Erik's vendetta and plotting, and seeing more of Charles beyond being that dude in the wheelchair :P

Not to mention there was a lot of "hnnnnngh" moments >_<

Also-I think if the movie was aimed at a more adult audience(and one character does say the f-word, so...), it probably could've had some hilarious scenes. I'm still highly amused at the part when
Erik and Charles were in a bed together getting a potential lap dance
and when
Emma Frost manipulated that Russian(?) leader into thinking he was getting lucky with her-and then Charles walked in on it
xD

Basically, I just really enjoyed Erik, and his and Charles' interactions. The music theme that played with his scenes was pretty kick-ass IMO, so that helped ^_^

Rating: 7.5/10

EDIT
: I saw the movie again, and I'm changing the rating to 8/10. I just really loved Fassbender's portrayal of Erik, and that alone was worth watching the movie, IMO.

Also, it seems that this wasn't a prequel but a reboot, so trying to to connect to the other movies doesn't seem necessary :hmmm:

X-Men: First Class

Went to see this on Thursday, probably the best film I've seen for a good while. Loved the fact it was set in the 60's and the themes of prejudice, etc being brought forward. Charles and Erik's interaction were spot on, although everyone played their part really well. The cameos were also brilliant!
Wolverine appearing totally had me unprepared and took me by surprise, as did the Mystique from the original X-Men trilogy.
Great film overall and a great ending song, too. I couldn't really point out any flaws.
