Jeckyll & Hyde - Freefall

Dutch Jumpstyle! I love this genre. Just some high tempo trance and just sexy to listen to haha. Haven't listened to it much for years, but in the past week it's pretty much all I have listened to. Very enjoyable <3

Ready to Start -- Arcade Fire

I've fallen in love with Canadian indie bands: Broken Social Scene, Stars, and now these guys. They're from Quebec and this is one of the singles from their third album, The Suburbs. It's very indie, they hold their own, a very strong guitar ensemble in the middle, and a spirited declaration of, "Now, I'm ready . . ." just sets me off for a hypnotic trance. I go into another world listening to this song, anything that was previously impossible becomes possible. It's just a very powerful song without smacking you in the face with crazy guitar riffs and crazy tempos. It isn't fast burning, instead this song just burns slow all the way to the end, even the buildup is sluggish and the vocals are sung with sincerity. It certainly earned these guys brownie points from moi, when I found out that the frontman and woman were actually married. Now that's pretty awesome.

3OH!3 - Don't Trust Me

I wasn't so keen on this when I first heard it. But now I really like the pair of them and this. The chorus is very catchy and the video looks like a lot of fun. Even though I would prefer them with another artist, it's nice to see that they don't need someone featuring on a song to make it fantastic.

ELECTRIC LOVE -- Vikter Duplaix

This guy is veteran in the R'nB underground scene and it clearly shows with this recent single. The production is polished, the electric synthesized beats are clean, the drumming is hot, and Vikter's voice is, as always, "like buttah." He can melt your inhibitions into a wittle puddle and all of the stresses and concerns of the day will just hide in a corner. This is a sleeper club bumper, I could envision this being played in the lounge clubs of the European nightlife circuits for quite a while.

". . . plug you into this electric love. Let me plug you in . . ."

Asthenia - Blink 182

Woo, love this band. Another great song. I especially love the versus in this one. The intro is a little long, so I always skip it. xD But besides that it's a friggin awesome song.

Tool - Love Song/Diary of a Mad Man

This has to be one of the most beautiful mixture of two songs I've ever heard. It figures only Tool could think of something as wickedly talented as putting these two songs together. It's amazing.

Shut Up and Kiss Me - Orianthi

Not something I would usually listen to but she's so damn cute I couldn't resist. I had to watch the video. I'm shocked to say I actually liked it. And that girl can shred pretty fuckin' well.

MGMT- "Kids"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIEOZCcaXzE

I actually came across this video completely randomly, but I ended up falling in love with the song :x3: I'd never heard this band before, and actually had thought I had read somewhere that they were associated with some other bands from a style I don't care for. But I love this style, sort of electronic-sounding rock with ambient vocals (sorry I'm no good with subgenres :ffs:), and I think it's cool that this pro-looking video is actually fan-made and got the real MGMT director to invite them to one of their real videos XD As far as the lyrics, I've heard several different interpretations, but have been unable to locate the actual meaning from the band's own mouth, so my interpretation is that it has to do with the environment, and possibly also draws a parallel between environmental fragility and the fragility of human relationships, specifically within families. I could be totally off :lew:, but it sounds to me like they're pointing out the childlike, somewhat ignorant nature of many people in this world, and the way we take and take without thinking about the consequences, whether it's from the environment or other people. There's also a really good verse which seems to be about the ups and downs of individuality and free thinking: "The memories fade, like looking through a fogged mirror/Decision to decisions are made and not bought, but I thought this wouldn't hurt a lot. I guess not." As in, making your own decisions rather than living your life by taking on the pre-made ones that society has set up for us: it seems like a good idea, but there can also be consequences to it, such as realizing just how bad a state the world is in when others are merely numb to the idea ("memories" of better times that "fade") :hmmm: Anyway, the first line of the chorus says it all--"Control yourself, take only what you need from it." I think this is an awesome motto to live by, and when coupled with a catchy tune, it makes for an awesome song :yay: 10/10 for sure.

Hooray for Kids! <3.

Retractor - Will Of The Union

Not sure where these guys came from. I think Puerto Rico o_O But shit they are amazing with the whole dark-electro/powernoise shit. Only have a few of their tracks off of an EP so I hope I can order the albums soon. Really enjoying everything I have listened to. Perhaps not the distorted vocals so much, but it's pretty cool listening to them at times.

(Orion - The Hunter) - Symphony X

Love this song, bein the metalhead that I am xD Russel Allen is by far one of the greatest singers (for this genre anyway) in the world, along with Michael Romeo's astounding composition skills, this is what anyone playing in this genre WISHES they could accomplish. With the heavy intro/chorus riff played under Russel Allen's high and harmonized vocals, its just mindblowing. Plus, Romeo's solo in this song is just awesome, people complain that he doesn't play with much emotion, but I beg to differ, plus, even if he didn't, doesn't stop his solos from being awesome xD for me, I gotta say 10/10

Alejandro.Lady GaGa. Honestly dont even ask why I am listening to Gaga in the first place. I usually despise her songs but this one just sticks into your head and you can not get it out. I actually think it is one of her best songs. I hear this on the radio also. I would say it is about an 8/10

Kids is an incredible song. The rest of their stuff isn't all that great though, sadly, with a few exceptions.

White Unicorn - Wolfmother
Amazing prog-rock sort of sound that's reminiscent of the 70s almost. Really raw and really good. It's a shame they don't sound like this anymore.

Porcupine Tree -- Blackest Eyes

One of the folks from the last forum I was apart of introduced me to this awesome band about a year or two ago. I've been addicted ever since. They're like Britain's darker version of Tool. Amazing instrumentation and brilliantly intelligent lyrics from an awesome front man hooked me instantly. This is one of my many favorite songs by them besides 'Time Flies'. And they sound incredible live, like they're still recording in the studio.

P!nk - Please Don't Leave Me

I think this is one of the cuter, more emotional songs from Funhouse. I adore the lyrics, which are true to many relationships nowadays. The whole production of the song is beautifully put together and her voice is incredible when she sings songs like this. I like how she still manages to keep her usual rocky sound in there.

The Fox, the Crow, and the Cookie - mewithoutYou

A really silly but good song. It's the first song I've heard from mewithoutYou since I took a fairly long "break" from music like this. But I'm glad I've come to listen to them again because most of their music tends to get stuck in my head.

Through mostly vacant streets
A baker from the outskirts of his town
Earned his living peddling sweets
From a ragged cart he dragged around
The clever fox crept close behind
Kept an ever watchful eye
For a chance to steal a ginger spice cake
Or a boysenberry pie

Looking down was the hungry crow:
"When the time is right, I'll strike
And condescend to the earth below
And take whichever treat I'd like"
The moment the baker turned around
To shoo the fox off from his cart
The crow swooped down and snatched a shortbread cookie
And a German chocolate tart

Using most unfriendly words
That the village children had not yet heard
The baker shouted threats by canzonette
To curse the crafty bird
"You rotten wooden mixing spoon
Why, you midnight-winged raccoon
You better bring those pastries back
You no-good burned-black macaroon"

The fox approached the tree
Where the bird was perched delighted in his nest
"Brother Crow, don't you remember me?
It's your old friend Fox with a humble request
If you could share just a modest piece
Seeing as I distracted that awful man"
This failed to persuade the crow in the least
So the fox rethought his plan

"Then if your lovely song would grace my ears
Or to even to hear you speak
Would ease my pains and fears!"
The crow looked down with the candy in his beak
"Your poems of wisdom, my good crow
What a paradise they bring!"
This flattery pleased the proud bird
So he opened his mouth and began to sing:

"Your subtle acclamation's true
Best to give praise where praise is due
Every rook and jay and corvidae's
Been raving about me too
They admire me, one and all
Must be the passion in my caw
My slender bill known throughout the escadrille
My fierce commanding claw!"

I got a walnut brownie brain
And molasses in my veins
Crushed graham cracker crust
My powdered sugared funnel cake cocaine
Let the crescent cookie rise
These carob-colored almond eyes
Would rest to see my cashewed princess
In the swirling marble sky
Would rest upon the knee
Where all of the visions cease to be
A root-beer float in our banana boat
Across the tapioca sea
When letting all attachments go
Is the only prayer we know
May it be so
May it be so
May it be so
Oh

Metropolis Pt. 2 Scenes from a Memory - Dream Theatre

Yes, I'm listening to the whole album xD You sorta have to to get the full effect of the album, which IMO was there last "great" album. Loved every song on the album, specially the metal-filled riff of Beyond this Life to the more poppy sound of songs like Overture 1928 and Strange Deja Vu. Plus with the amazing instrumental called The Dance of Eternity and the ending song Finally Free, I just loved this DT album. Obviously I'm a prog metal person lol 9.5/10

JLS - The Club Is Alive

Now I've had far more listening time, I've come to appreciate this and it's such a catchy song. Like how they've taken a risk out of their slightly older stuff. I like the slight reference in the chorus to the song they took the words from. I like all the guys having equal vocals and the production here is very, very impressive. It's one of those club bangers that I wouldn't mind getting up and dancing to.

Noon - Dakent

Just heard this on a YouTube Montage type thing that I was watching. It's only an instrumental, but I decided to download it and listen to it again and it's really a great song. It's just insanely... pretty.

Horrible creepy music from Two steps from hell.

4/10

The album ashes only has music that's good in horror movies, not just to listen to.
I do listen to it now though as I am writing a horror story, some songs scare the crap out of me with creepy laughter or piano in the background.
I'm sure of it, I'll turn all lights on before I head to bed xD

This Picture - Placebo

:ryan: Placebo's a great band, even though I'm not a fan of their new stuff. Their older albums were drop dead amazing, and this is one of the songs I love by them.

Love the lyrics and the melody of the song.
