Cutting Crew - (I Just) Died in Your Arms

I have no idea why they're called Cutting Crew, nor do I have any idea why a song about having an orgasm is so groovy and rocking. It's no 'Orgasm Addict' by the Buzzcocks, but then again, what is?

Oh, I'm just joking, I quite like this tune. It's a hell of a song from the mid-80's. The vocals in this are epic, in my humble opinion, especially the chorus that states the song's title. Simply put, this is just one of those songs that symbolize 'cool' in the 80's, much like Corey Hart's Sunglasses at Night.

Laura Marling - All My Rage

Her new album doesn't come out until the 13th but luckily for me YouTube has the songs in live form. :ohoho: Night After Night is my favorite so far, though I haven't heard them all. This one comes around second, I'm watching her performance from Glastonbury and I love how upbeat it is compared to most of her older songs.

I wasn't particularly fond of this when I first heard it on the radio. But it slowly grew on me and I actually like the kind of sound in which they're heading towards right now. I didn't like Notorious either, so it's quite a relief I like this now I've had sometime to get used to it. It's infectious, catchy and has a great beat. The girls' voices are a lot better here than in other singles. But yet again, the whole second-single-should-have-been-the-first strikes again!

9/10

The Beast - Laura Marling

I got her new album yesterday morning and have been listening to it non-stop since then really. It starts off kind of slow, her singing costively over a gentle but quite crisp acoustic guitar. It is about a lost lover, and she is wondering what he is doing with himself now. Can he even look himself in the eye? It grows heavier as the song progresses, with an electric guitar building up in the background. It is a hybrid of her usual melancholic songs and rock, amazing to hear

Hayley Westenra - World In Union

I heard this song a few weeks ago and i fell in love with it  the vocal is awesome the singer has an amazing voice :)... the lyrics in the song are amazing, really sums up what the world should be... this song was made for the rubgy world cup that currently going on :) the best thing of all is that it plays on the tele every time a rubgy world cup program starts :P

DJ Got us Falling In Love - Usher

Okay, I'm going to be frank, I absolutely hate this song as far as it's actual meaning, but holy fuck I just love the beat, and how it makes you move on the dance floor. there's nothing like a great beat, and a will to give up all self-conscious awareness to truly understand what it means to "get lost in the music". so, hate the song lyrically, but love it musically. :ryan:

Marvin Gaye - I Heard It Through the Grapevine

This is an amazing song and Marvin Gaye was an incredible singer and musical talent whose life was ended far too soon. This may be one of his more famous songs, and it certainly deserves every accolade that it's been given. The song is incredible and his vocals are just out of this world. I don't know what else to say right now other than that this song is sadly the story of my life the last couple of days. Err... Yeah... Anyway, wonderful song.

Monster - Skillet

Well, I've always been a fan of skillet, and this song is one of my favorites. It has great meaning, and to me the instrumental work is top-notch. Love the singer's voice. I do not know his name by heart, so yeah. This song is just what resembles how far they've came as a band, and I admire that about them. Plus, this song is really rocking. :3

Foreign Beggars- 'Still Gettin It' (feat Skrillex)

I heard this on bpm yesterday while I was running some errands. :gonk: ...I really do love this. The bass, the effects, and the touches you can expect from Skrillex really are amazing. The lyrics are repetitive and not much, but this is a really fun song :awesome:

Deranged by Coheed and Cambria

Coheed is one of my favorite bands out there, especially because of their Sci-Fi story the Amory Wars that goes with their albums. I've always liked Claudio Sanchez's voice, and their last album was somewhat of a letdown (not his voice, though :gasp:) He really shines in this song, and it's a nice dark song with a Batman theme to it :britt: Need moar Coheed :ryan:

Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

Yes, so this song is as old as me, perhaps even a few months older. It's one of those songs that, for no apparent reason at all, you want to get up and just lose yourself. Kurt Cobain was the best singer of his time, and mad respect to him, and RIP. It's funny, too. The drummer of this band went on to gain success as the lead singer of Foo Fighters, and still is widely popular. So, yeah there's the fun fact of the day.

I just love this song to death, and it pretty much started the Grunge movement in the 90s. :reptar:

Ain't it Fun - Dead Boys.

It's an ironic song about self-loathing. It's all about what the lead singer did on drugs and how he enjoyed it at the time. Obviously he doesn't feel so enthusiastic about it now. Guns N Roses covered it, but they just polished it up, which is rather pointless as it's supposed to be kind of lo-fi.
And talking about fun facts, Stiv Bator, the lead singer of Dead Boys gave Sid Vicious the knife he used to carve Nancy up with.

Boooooom, Blast & Ruin - Biffy Clyro

Friggin' love this band. This song always makes you think/have that cocky attitude, like whatever, I might be wrong, but so are you. :ryan: Love the music, and I fucking looooooooooove Biffy Clyro's (YES, the whole band) vocal talent. ♥

I've had enough, you burn the bridge, I'll cut the boat in half.

Memphis Blues - Nat King Cole

Burning a blues CD for someone, and listening to the playlist... I didn't realise how catching blues music was! I think there is the possibility that I will become a fan. How about that?! :awesome:
I feel so much more seasoned now...

Lady Gaga - Electric Chapel

:gonk:

I still love this song sooo much :inlove: The rockin' guitar rift is so cool and epic sounding. I love her style of vocalizing as well. It's really unique and cool sounding. I love how she cited Fleetwood Mac with the verse "Follow me, don't be such a holy fool" she did it in a way where you know who she's referencing to but does it in her own way.

It's just an awesome song. :ryan:

Opeth's 1st release- Orchid

as background music to some grinding in FFX...life could be worse. :)

Killer - Plain White T's

This song has a nice mellow beat. It kind of reminds me of some kind of song that would be on a romantic, pirate movie. Has a great sound, and vocals match the overall sound. Lyrics are pretty tight too. :ryan:

Break My Heart Around You by Atomic Tom. I discovered this band about 2 days ago via a friend who posted a video on another forum. After listening to their album and EP over and over, I've decided that this is my favorite song by them. I really like it :ryan:

Can only find the live acoustic version (which sounds really damn good) on Youtube. Spotify link for anyone who actually has it :hmmm: http://open.spotify.com/track/1hbFzip75oQPuSuR7ZsfWr

Switchfoot Afterlife

An ode to emo-esque existentialist crisis and man huggery touchy feely, carpe diem, self help motivational, upbeatism.

(Not to mention indirect prelude to comma molestation and grammar abuse.)

The riff and theme resonates a lil.
