[V5] What are you currently listening to?

I used to love this song way back in the day. I feel kind of old even though I know I'm not compared to some people *coughs**. Nivea doesn't even make music anymore but to me she was sort of similar to Ashanti ... kind of like that generic carbon copy. I didn't love Nivea's music and I wasn't as devoted a fan of hers at all as I was of Ashanti ... but I liked this particular song. It was catchy. It was cute and it had high replay value in my opinion so I used to bump it a loooooot. Until I got sick of it.

Cassie- King of Hearts

I heard this on xm this morning and I really like it :lew: It's been awhile since I've heard anything new of Cassie's. I really liked her older stuff and her music style so I wasn't surprised I'd like this as well. Lyrics are really sweet and the beat is pretty nice. I DON'T like what she did to her hair though...wth 8(

On a Misson by Katy B.

Got my girl Katy B. on repeat and blast all day right now.
"This right here I swear will end too soon ..."

I love her sweet melodic voice. Seriously her voice just sounds syrupy and almost childlike over the music BUT that's not a bad thing. Sometimes I need a break from powerful, commanding voices (Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson come to my mind, for instance). Sometimes I want to immerse myself in pop-friendly lyrics, pop-friendly vocals, and a thumping bassline and Katy B's music provides that. Is she a Beyonce or a J. Hud when it comes to her vocal range? No. But can she carry a tune and make it catchy? Damn straight. She has her own unique range and she can sing it's just not comparable to Bey or J. Hud. Apples and oranges. Not limes and lemons. This is a nice ass tune, super catchy, great for a club. If you're a raver it should bring to your mind the days you spent sweating, dancing, jumping up and down like some crazed hyperactive ... animal dancing to dubstep and EDM. Yeah. It's fucking nice.

Tool - Jimmy

Amazing song with such depth and emotion, as always a favorite among Tool fans, but my favorite is the below lyric:

Hold your light,
Eleven, Lead me through each gentle step,
By step,
By inch by loaded memory,
I'll move,
To heal,
As soon as pain allows so we can,
Reunite,
And both move on together.

Shook Ones, Pt. II - Mobb Deep

One of my favourite rap songs. It has everything a good 'gangsta' rap song should have, an arrogance, I'd say swagger but that term has been ruined, and it's threatening. They threaten to kill the listener, or someone else at least ten times. You kind of believe that they would, perhaps not, but you believe them more than someone like 50 cent. The lyrics are very good too. The only problem I have with the song is that the first verse is so superb that it completely outshines the second.

Skrillex - First Of The Year (Equinox)

I love the music video they've done for this. XD

Not only is this an awesome party song but the video clip is freakin' tops too!

That little girl is so freaky! And that monster thing behind her looks like something from Kingdom Hearts. XD

sometime around midnight - the airborne toxic event
i've been in love with this band for a while now, they're one that i always come back to and this is my favourite song by them. it has a lot of emotion in it.

look closer - Set Your Goals

Not the best song off of their This Will Be The Death of Us record, but far from the worst. It's a solid pop-punk track with a some decent, almost metal riffs. Drums are simple, but they get the job done. Vocals are the highlight of the song for me.

Party Life - Jay-Z

Okay so it's off his last album. It's not recent. I'm a pretty avid listener of Jay-Z (loved his Blueprint album and American Gangster and The Blueprint II and The Blueprint III were both smex. I know that wasn't listed in chronological order but whatevs). I'm fucking excited about Watch the Throne, ALL of Kanye and Jay-Z's songs that I've heard so far sound hot (i.e "Otis," "No Church in the Wild," my baby Frank Ocean sings the refrain on that and "N*ggas in Paris"). In fact I love what I'm hearing from the album so far sooo much that I might just cop it. So I'm listening to this ish while doing homework. Chill rap music puts me in my zone sometimes. Lol. Jay-Z's still a lyrical beast and his beats are still cold. Plus Ye and Hova together?! The shit's crazy, they're an amazing rap duo. Not much else to say. Haha.

Iron Maiden - 'En Vivo!' (Technically watching, as its the Blu-Ray)

Because it's Iron Fucking Maiden.

Plus it's really good to hear the new songs (i.e. the stuff from 'The Final Frontier') live. Though I feel as if I need to blast out any live Maiden, or put some on the 'ol iPod, I'll be looking at the older live albums for the most part. Still, the Blu-Ray is a must for any Iron Maiden fan. The performance is still spectacular and well played. It also kinda reminded me of when I saw them play last year in Cardiff as it is essentially the same tour and set list for the most part. Good times.

Climax - Usher

I'm loving that Usher's going back to his traditional R'nB sound; this is the sort of minimalistic style I remember listening to when I was younger. This song sounds like something from his Confessions era and that's not a bad thing at all. It's a sleek and well produced track but it doesn't overpower that wonderful voice of his. I love his falsetto; I wasn't a fan of all of that auto-tune he used in his last album; I felt it detracted from that voice of his. Plus the video proves that he doesn't need flashy choreography, backup dancers, or something overtly sexual (there's like one or two subtle sexual shots of him with a girl but not much)to get lots of views. All Usher needs is his voice and his natural charisma.

Saw them live last night, met Gustav Wood, they're my new fave band at the moment, and I love this song now :inlove:

Skylar Grey- Coming home part 2

I've been a bit depressed the last couple of days...this song has been helping me through. We all make mistakes, we all aren't perfect. I've made mistakes in my life, but the best part of all of it is that I've been forgiven for them. Someday I'll be home, and all of it won't even matter anymore.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Theme

I know, it sounds childish? but hey, I have been getting back into Power Rangers, and this one has always been a childhood-favorite, and well, who can argue that it's not the best PR theme EVER!

in the power rangers ideal.. i am listening to the band eyeshine - waterfalls. eyeshine is a band started by the guy who played the black ranger from season 2 on in the original power rangers series.

Trent Rez/ Nine Inch Nails - We're in this together

One of my favorite nine inch nails songs, just about not giving a damn about anything but yourself.

awake to the sound as they peel apart the skin
they pick and they pull
trying to get their fingers in
well they've got to kill what we've found
well they've got to hate what they fear
well they've got to make it go away
well they've got to make it disappear

the farther I fall I'm beside you
as lost as I get I will find you
the deeper the wound I'm inside you
for ever and ever I'm a part of

Toberu Mono from The Last Story.

I wish I could download this piece and pay for it somewhere. It's absolutely incredible! I have an instrumental version on the Limited Edition CD, but it's not quite as good. :wacky:

Nobuo Uematsu's music can be so poignant! I wish I could compose. :sad3:
