What are you currently reading?

I'd recommend the plays Medea, Electra and The Bacchae by Euripides. They're all fine works. The Bacchae is pretty unsettling though.
Of Euripides' works, I've read Alcestis and Medea. The Bacchae is already on my list of of things to read since it happens to be in a book of Euripides' plays along with Alcestis and Medea. I'll be sure to look for Electra, too. Is it similar to the Electra written by Sophocles?

Farenheit 451

I read the first half the day I got it (two days ago) and would probably be done if I would actually sit down and read instead of post on forums or play video games.

Black Boy by Richard Wright.
It's for English class. I probably shouldn't have laughed, but the part with the fried chicken dinner... finding it funny probably made me a terrible person. Otherwise, it's actually a fairly eye-opening book, since it's all based on the guy's life.

I'm not sure about its differences and similarities to the Sophocles play. I know it does criticise elements of the equivalent play by Aeschylus (the Libation Bearers I think it's called), and it seems to take a far dimmer view of Electra and Orestes (as well as of the gods) than the Aeschylus and Sophocles versions do.

I'm currently reading "The Harsh Cry Of The Heron" written by an american studying Japanese culture. The story is set in Japan as well.

Currently reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. I WAS in the middle of reading Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer but was losing the will to live by doing so, so decided to read something good instead.

I haven't really read many classics like this, but I'm trying to get back into reading.

What I'm Reading...

I am currently reading two books. One is a comic, and the other is my study reviews. The comic I'm reading is a manga I'm working on... You can see it on http://kyoko-zelch.deviantart.com/, which is my user page there. It's called Peace Hunters, and I'm already drawing Issue 3: Purely Rocking Adventures. I finished Issue 1: Road to Justice and Issue 2: Pegasus, the Book-Smart Samurai, which are now posted on dA. (I know the names is silly, but I've been working on it for 6-7 years...)

The reviews... well, you should know. I'm studying for 3rd and 4th period midterm exams before getting out of school for the holidays. How silly... ^^;

Philosophy in the Bedroom by Marquis de Sade.

Just skimming a PDF I found online, but I plan buying it whenever I get to Barnes and Noble.

I am currently reading the Wind-up Bird Chronicles by Haruki Murakami:)

im readin cat and mouse by james patterson and i just finished along came a spider by big jp as well
Try not to let your posts deterioriate into one-liners, guys. Such short posts might be deleted without notice, in the future.

Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.

The fount of masochism! Or something like that. This is a departure from Bataille and Sade in the sense that there is a lot more emotion going on here, instead the of nonstop pornographic debauchery of Bataille and Sade, and at first I was unsure of whether or not I liked that departure, but now I'm quite sure I do. The prose is beautiful. I actually picked this up on a whim, after finding it next to Sade's Philosophy in the Boudoir, which I happened to be picking out at the time, and am quite glad I did.

Also, probably my favorite title ever.

Just finished Eclispe from the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer.

Moving on to Breaking Dawn, when i get to see my cousin again.

I think the story should be generally well known, since there's already a movie out there based on the first book, Twilight. Well, in case you don't know..

Its about this girl, Isabella (Or simply, Bella, as others address her in the book) Swan, who falls in love with this centenarian of a vampire, Edward Cullen. As Edward comes to accept this love (Which he deems dangerous), he introduces his family (of vampires), drawing Bella into the dangerous of vampires, and werewolves alike.

Finishing off The Wishsong of Shannara (Terry Brooks) at the moment.

God, what a terrible way to end The Sword of Shannara trilogy. The Sword, whilst LOTR-esque, is a fantastic read, and the Elfstones is by far the best book I have ever read, but this...it all just goes completely downhill with this.

Jesus for President by Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw

Explores the politics of Jesus, while illustrating the incompatibility of Christianity and empire. Quite stirring, honestly. I've never looked at the Bible the way Claiborne and Haw do, and it is a rather compelling interpretation that leads me to question myself a bit. A more in depth reading of the Bible is in order after this.

Also, really cool layout. I thought it was a little gimmicky at first, but the spacing and everything kind of works in its favor...

Tiger - By Susie Green : Basically a book on the history of the Tiger, complete with many different pictures, photos and paintings. I've recently read past the destruction of the Tiger, and how it's numbers have been reduced.

DALI - By Gilles Neret : All about Dali, through childhood to death, what was behind his paintings, and why certain things interested him etc etc. Good read.

The Long Walk Home - By Valerie Wood: About a character called Mikey Quinn.
He recently got locked up for a month, and I've just got to the bit where he has left prison, and has discovered his mother has died.

Currently reading Twolihjt, it's not quite as good as Id hoped but it's still ok, I find myself wondering what the author is waffling about sometimes and other times my mind just starts to wander, Im about half way through and having difficulty concentrating. Although I will finish it. too much of it is about Bella staring at Cullen..... I might just need to re read it >_>

LST BOOK i READ iVE ALREADY COMMENTED ON IN HERE SO CBA REPEATING MYSELF

nEXT ON THE HIT LIST IS NEW MOON. (damn caps lock) Might as well carry on reading the books, and I have already bought it

I'm reading the Twilight series, currently reading the first book.

Bella Swan is the MOST annoying character I've ever encountered, for the first two chapters she seemed like she'd have a personality - she was sarcastically witty - then chapter 3. Edward appears. Suddenly his name appears 75 times each paragraph. See, if I was Edward Cullen, I'd have let Bella get ran over tbqh. She just needs to be slapped. Several times.

Currently Reading:
I am Legend by Richard Matheson.
Despite the movie being hated by a large majority, I really enjoyed it and was interesting in readind the differences between the book and movie. As usual there is a HUGE difference between movie and book and also like usual the book is better.

Obviously haven't finished it yet, but thus far I would recommend the book. For something written in the 1950 the ideas and theories are amazing and the writing style is quite good as well.

Just Read:
Anita Blake Vampire Hunter: Book 11 by Laurell K. Hamilton
Sometimes I wonder why I continue reading this series. I used to love everything about these books until Anita turned in an absolute biatch and the plot became nothing but sex. At least I actually finished this book, can't say the same for number 10 that was just plain horrid. Honestly, I don't even remember what the plot was about, lol. Just that 3/4 of the book was sex and the rest was Anita being annoying.

Planning to Read:
Romance of the Three Kingdoms
One of my best friends is Chinese and I mentioned that I was really interested in the characters from the warring states period. She got excited and recommended these books and has subsequently been teaching me how to pronounce the names, lol. Its been fun. I also recently went to see Red Cliff Part.1 which got me excited about reading this book, although I know the movie isn't exactly accurate.

Bought and finished Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity by David Lynch today.

Essentially his ramblings about transcendental meditation, consciousness, ideas, and his films. I didn't care as much for the TM bit, but the look into his creative processes and his ideas about film are very cool.

The simplicity of all of it is beautiful, and I feel like such a douchey fangirl saying this, but it was really inspiring.
