What did you think about Zidane?

I found Zidane to be funny and had a good aura about him. I thought he was a little loopy but that comes with being where he grew up in. Yeah he was a little stuck in the gutter but who isn't sometimes? <------rhetorical question

He's a bit like Locke with a tail :)

I found him quite a nice change from Squall who kind of bored me tbh. He was pretty level headed too, despite his antics every now and then. So as far as male protagonists go I think he fits in really well to the story and he's one of my favourites from the series.

One of the best Final fantasy lead ever, perhaps the best. He was a flirt, a prankster, a hero and a complex character all wrapped into one. I also liked the fact that they didn't indulge in his past as much as say Cloud or Squall. Rather the focus was on how he influences his fellow party members and vice-versa. Very infectious personality. Don't get me wrong, I thought Cloud was cool, but Zidane didn't have a problem telling everybody what he was really thinking.

I LOVE zidane!!
hes so much different from the other ff protagonists
cheerful and happy and jerky
hes one of my favourite character of all time

I think Square Enix didn't do his appearance justice. Amano's sketch clearly shows he's a hottie with a tail. -__-

Anyway, seems everytime I replay FFIX, I grow more and more fond of Zidane. He's serious when he has to be. He doesn't think things over too much. Although he's a little bit of a perv:wacky:, but when it's time to step up, he's there. He's strong-willed and though there are times he loses it, he snaps out of it eventually.

He's probably the reason why FFIX is my favorite game.

Well, he's certainly a lot more cheery than Cloud or Squall, which was a noticeable change. I didn't mind, though, since I liked his character. Yes, Zidane is a pervert, but I acually found that amusing. He made me laugh a lot during the game when he wasn't being serious. But, he also made me respect him during the times he actually was serious. All in all, Zidane was a pretty cool character.

Zidane was a good sport.at first i thought"he is the main character? werid,he is nothing like the previous ones" then i used him and thought "even weirder,he is a theif that is really strong" He really suprised my through the whole game. I still think that he was a good guy

I like him, even though some of the things he said in the beginning were *kind of* annoying because he was showing off. Likeable character who values friendship and is strong, determined, and thoughtful.

Some of you guys are being way too hard on poor Zidane. You should really keep a few things in mind.

1. He's supposed to be SIXTEEN YEARS OLD. All you guys keep talking about how he's too pervy. Not REALLY. At the age he's at, he's completely normal. In fact, he's a lot MILDER than most sixteen year olds IN REAL LIFE. Cut the guy some slack. He just hit puberty a couple years ago.

2. He was raised by that weirdo Baku, who dressed up in a Dragon-like helmet thing and attacked his adopted sons in the beginning of the game. Like that's normal? Zidane is pretty damn well adjusted for his upbringing.

3. Even though he really liked girls and all, it was obvious he cared for Dagger/Garnet very deeply and was a faithful kind of guy. Okay, so he asked out that waitress (Lillian?) in Lindblum on a airship cruise. So what? He never talks to her again. He and Garnet weren't even "official" yet. PLUS... it's GARNET that he can't get out of his head once he's away from her. Not Lillian, or any other girl in the game (Lani, who he also hits on at some point, I think in Fossil Roo).

4. Zidane does a great job representing the duality of man. He is just like a lot of people you'd meet everyday. He's obnoxious, goofy, rambunctious, impulsive... he has a lot of qualities that most young people have. You look at Squall, who was seventeen (one year older than Zidane), and he acted like a 45 year old man. Does that make sense? Not to bash Squall, he's actually quite possibly my favorite main character in the FF series, but still... are you seeing my point yet? Zidane could be like the rest of us, and he had flaws that lots of kids do. But in the end of the day he had a strong sense of justice, loyalty to his friends, etc. He also dealt with an identity crisis in Bran Bal/Pandemonium, and he dealt with it pretty well for someone his age. He got himself out of that funk pretty quickly.

I think Zidane is a damn good character to represent FF 9.

I like Zidane. He's a cute, bold boy. Though I like muscular, serious men, hihi ^^
Anyhow he is a great character ;)

I like him as a main character. I think that he's a good, strong leader. He's very compatible with the other characters, and I like how he tolerates Quina. Since FFIX was the first FF game that I had played I honestly didn't know what to expect, but after playing it for a few hours and getting the feel of it. I really did like it. ^_^

By far the best protagonist in a FF game, with the exception of possibly Cecil. I actually like to play through a 50 to 70 hour game with a main character I LIKE. Cloud and Squall were far too moody and boo-hooful. At least Zidane had consistent character traits and human like attributes. Not to mention he spent a good amount being his own comic relief, but without being too goofy.

He's like an older cooler brother. Someone to look up to, who can make mistakes but for the most part is mostly interested in doing what is right. (And getting some tail. Ha-CHA!)

Zidane was just fine, except for his name -_- But hey, at least he's better than Vaan >.> Though that isn't saying much, I suppose...

I thought Zidane was an excellent protagonist. His personality was a great contrast compared to those like Cloud and Squall. His quirky mannerisms and attitude made things really enjoyable. His style, his swagger, it was all great. And just when you think he's this simple, kinda unexpected hero of everything - comes this really interesting that really adds a few layers of complexity to his character.

Oh, and I loved his trance - headbutt.

Zidane is one of my favorite lead FF characters. (After Cecil and Terra). I like how he was so much different from the previous two main characters. It was also interesting that the theif was the main character and he got the girl. Usually it's the knight who fills those roles. Not only that, but he's a bit of a perv and he gets the white mage.

I also liked how he showed many emotions during the game. He could be happy, upset, perverted, joking, and even depressed.

HATE HIM, I just hate him. tbh I thought he can transform to a big giant ape coz he have the super sayan tale but the tale was worthless! Why adding a worthless thing to that blond bastard?! Yea he stink, and he is a li'l perv. Don't talk about puberty crap! if this was not a game and Zidane was a real person, he would've have a boner all the time!!
Whoa, why the hate for him? The tail was explained in his backstory. It was supposed to represent where he actually came from, and what he actually was. But your name is "DarkSquall", so I guess I can see why you'd hate the polar opposite of him.

Out of all the Main Protagonist Male's, he has got to be one of the best I had played as. He was funny, kind, wasn't afraid to say what was on his mind, and he wasn't to emo (even tho when he found out what he was, he became emo, but for some reason, I enjoyed that part of him as well) if I had to choose which character would be put into the new FF game as the main character if they needed a recurring character, it would be Zidane, not one of the emotional being's who just can't get over thing's.

Hey, some of us like Squall AND Zidane =P - the point about Zidane is it's good that they varied the main character a bit after the first two games. I like Cloud and Squall (and despite popular belief, neither are 'emo' to be honest) but sometimes it's good to shake things up and try something different. And that's what Zidane is. It'd be boring if every FF game was the same in its characters after all.
