Ryan scratched his head rather nervously, giving Cerden a fairly confused look. "Um, no. I wish it HAD been my stomach though..." he confessed. "But you know what, I felt a faint whiff of brimstone coming along the hallway when we heard that. Whatever that thing is, it's at least partly demonic, so that's some good news."
Then he just shrugged. "Because if it's part-demonic, that means we can kill it. I mean, Aedan's a paladin--he probably deals with demonic shit everyday! Come on!"
Ryan carried on down the hallway, secretly wondering where Ty was and wishing very hard that Ty was with him instead of Raz's group, if only to keep Ryan from giving in to his urge to just get the hell out of dodge.
But if I leave, Ty will come with the other group and get his fuzzy arse killed! I couldn't leave even if I wanted! he thought sourly. Darn werewolf!
At least the hallway now definitely led to the throne room. They'd come to the first section of it, a sort of 'green room' where people expecting an audience with the Duke or members of his court waited before being formally called in and introduced to the Duke and his court--a common court practice. It was a large hall with a tall, sun window-bearing ceiling that now provided a strange afternoon light. The normally elegant hall was now abandoned by guards and retainers and housing the one creature that'd actually eaten a couple of those retainers.
It was an impressive beast, about the size of an elephant, with a hunched back and shiny white fur. Its head was more or less wedge-shaped and its eyes were red pits of hatred and fury. Those big ears undoubtedly gave it an exceptional hearing--it could probably hear their stunned heartbeats. It opened a mouth of strange teeth and screeched a roar at them as they approached. Bizarre, multiple horns and claws completed the vision of hell's wrath brought into existence.
"Wait...that thing..." Ryan said, cocking his head sideways. "...Is that a rabbit? A giant fucking demon rabbit?"
