Oh my god, it is nearing release. Just seeing this has gotten me even more excited. :ryan:

Oh and also, this is news worthy as well.

Uncharted 3 DLC season pass announced

If you’re planning on purchasing downloadable content for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, you may be interested in joining the Fortune Hunters’ Club DLC program.

Announced today, the program “entitles you to the first four multiplayer map packs and the first three multiplayer skin packs.”

Available for pre-order now on the PlayStation Store, the program costs $24.99 to enter, and will grant you access to over $45 worth of downloadable content, as they release. You’ll also receive an “exclusive” Fortune Hunters’ Club XMB theme.

The first Uncharted 3 DLC will be released in November.

IMO the Uncharted games can be standalone, you'd understand the story fine if you had just played one game. But if you have a PS3 the first two games are must plays. :mokken:

I am loving Drake's new melee in this game :ohoho: More violence

The first and second certainly are. But according to what I have read in this thread, and how could anyone not trust the accuracy of Finaru Fantariji Forumaruji members', then the plot is about Drake being deceived. And to be be deceived he must know that person, which means that it likely involves one of the other characters. Unless Drake is the deceiver, he may be deceiver Elena, Drake might be a homosexual. In either case the relationships established in the previous games will probably be important. But to fully understand the greatness of Drake 3: Out of the closet, you will probably need to have played the earlier games. The first Uncharted wasn't the massive hit that Uncharted 2 was. At that point they couldn't risk alienating people who hadn't played the first game. There were very few references to the first game, Sully getting Nate out of jail and the elevator scene in the Hotel. Besides that not a lot else.
Though I completely agree that everyone should play the first two games, in order as well.

I have to agree with the Hal here.

Uncharted 3 is going to require knowledge of the previous games in order to better understand this one. As Hal states, there is likely a bit of deception going on, and that'll have more impact if it involved characters we already know. In addition to this, Drake's ring and Sir Francis Drake is also right at the heart of the plot. You may need to know about the first game in particular to get some of the references they'll likely make, and to understand some of the plot.

That said, they may recap that if it is crucial to understanding the story.

EDIT - Or... It might be a misleading title. It does not state that Nathan Drake will deceive someone, or that someone will deceive him. 'Drake's Deception' could always refer to Sir Francis Drake. Perhaps he deceived the Queen, or deceived the world somehow.

It's been implied in the trailers that Nathan knows the main villain this time around (who's name escapes me). I honestly do not think the "Deception" part implies that Nathan is betraying his friends, but is already tied in to this villain. I believe it was in the last video posted here in which she says to Drake (in a scene where they look like they're meeting at an outdoor table?) that Nathan should know her better than anyone or something along those lines.

It just seems out of his character to betray Sully, Chloe or Elana, to be frank. :hmmm: That is just my opinion of course.

Also, Chloe says "If Drake was on a mission for the queen, then why all the secrecy?" implying it could also be Sir Francis Drake and not Nathan.

I'd never ever play UC3 before the first two :gasp: I just happened to get into the beta and played it while I could :P I'd be a huge hypocrite if I went and did that :hmmm: And I can just get the dual pack for 40 when I get another 10 dollars :lew:

I forgot about the dual pack. Good choice and good buy. I'm glad you're not like those annoying dudes out there who say "I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE STORY, IT'S THE NEWEST GAME WHICH MEANS ITS THE MOST POPULAR AND THE BEST, PREORDERED!"

I hate those people as well :damon: My friend wouldn't play the first Assassin's Creed game for that reason. If you're going to play the others before hand, at least go back to them. I'm the only person I know that played the first Half-Life all the way through before playing Half-Life 2 (some people probably aren't aware of the original's existence :gasp:)

But that aside, I would definitely play the first 2 before playing the 3rd. Why? Why the hell else would I skip two game of the year winning games to play the third game in the series? :reptar: And trophies are always nice.

They've now added Facility to the Subway multiplayer early access.

It's now been edited to be frozen over and covered in snow... Which doesn't make sense since the original map was meant to be taken from a bunker in the South American jungle...
Still a good map, and it looks nice. It just doesn't make sense having known where it comes from. However, I guess it is no longer associated with that anymore, and therefore we should just pretend that someone built another facility with a submarine in Tibet. :hmmm:

I wonder if we'll get any other maps before the early access ends. Hopefully we'll get Dry Docks - the water level where we get to swim and do water combat.

I am quite freaked out by the creepy crawlers kick back to be honest. It is a pre order bonus, and in the beta you needed a voucher to get it. What it does is basically turns your character into a swarm of spiders. Is it just me? Or is this pretty freaky? I am terrified of arachnids >.>

Here is the video

That is badass! It's like the scarab scenes in The Mummy!

I do hope that there is another way to get that... It's too good to just be a bonus for pre-order and other elite things... Everyone should be able to have the chance to unlock that.

If we don't get that, there should be other kick-backs like it... Perhaps becoming a Descendant or a Guardian...

Haha, Argie it takes like 17 medals to use. You will not see it in all of your games xD. I only saw it once in the beta. Some guy was level 48ish and he had it. I thought this thing was so cheap, but apparently there is a way to counter it. Yeah, I am hoping for much more kickbacks. I personally can now wait to see them. Ah I guess it does fit into the game somehow :lew:

I can't wait to use that creepy crawler kickback, since I preordered mine! It looks so terrifying but I'm assuming in the first little while that the game is out, most people will have the creepy crawler kickback because the people who have it the earliest usually preordered it. So I imagine most multiplayer maps will be swarming with scary spiders. I'm probably going to have to wait a week or so for mine because I pre-ordered my Collector's Edition with Standard shipping and I have no idea how long that's supposed to take. The Standard shipping was free so I chose it over having to pay $124.48 in total.

Awesome! :argor:

Also, I played the UC3 early access again last night. They've sneakily added Museum to the playable maps... So now we have eleven confirmed maps. I played at Museum last night and it is the same map as from UC2, but it is now set during the daytime and everything looks very colourful and beautiful.

I think we can expect to see quite a few maps randomly get added that they must only be feeding us slowly.

These kinds of things are always released to every later down the line. Some are just a lot later than others. :wacky:

Anyhow, has anyone looked into this "Uncharted Fortune Hunter Club" or whatever it is? The pre-order (supposedly discounted?) package for the future DLCs. Is this a one time pay thing or do you still fork out cash whenever these things come out at a "lower price"?

I've not considered that yet, since I'm not getting the game on release. I do hope that such a package would exist for later buyers. :sad2:

Also... Be careful looking on youtube now... Some people have either hacked the early access or have somehow got an early copy of the game. People are posting entire chapters up on youtube, and I've already had a few spoilers... Well not really spoilers as it is stuff we'd expect anyway and could easily have been put in the trailer, but I now know a few of the kind of things we will see. I f you want to know yourself, read the below spoilers.

We will play a chapter as a teenage Nathan Drake, and we will see a younger Sully and Marlowe at this time.

Another map for multiplayer is 'City of Brass'

We get quite a few characters for multiplayer in addition to those we have seen:
Villians:
Dead Agent
Suited Marlowe
Desert Talbot
Young Marlowe
Skelzor
Genghis Khan
Doughnut Talbot (Lawl :argor:)

Then the rest seem to be purchasable via DLC (the same ones we purchased in UC2, so I hope that the purchase carries on from UC2 into UC3 - like LBP's downloadable content does...).

And there are also DLC characters from UC2:
Harry Flynn
Lazarevic
Doughnut Lazarevic (double lawl :argor:)

And a wild card I have no idea who it is...
Capture Trooper.

-

Heroes:
Suited Drake
Suited Sully
Salim
Young Sully
Desert Drake
Marco Polo
Doughnut Drake

Then as with the villains we have DLC that we already had from UC2...

In addition we have characters from UC2 for new DLC:
Cameraman Jeff
Reporter Elena
Nepal Drake
Nepal Chloe
Winter Elena
Winter Drake
Winter Chloe
Tenzin
Karl Schafer

No sign of Rika Raja or Mr. Pinkerton though... Perhaps they will carry through?

I'm going to be careful what I click now though. I don't want to spoil the game for myself. What I listed here isn't spoiling as such, but I wrapped it up in spoiler tags just in case. It's really only mentioning certain aspects of the game that we can expect to see based on what this guy on youtube has revealed early.

It was obvious Uncharted III would get a 10/10 anyway. When you look at the second game, it just did phenomenal. This one is just going to do even better. I already pre ordered the game, so I am going to pick it up right away next Tuesday :ryan: Oh and if you people intend to post spoilers in this thread, I shall refrain from clicking anything. :jtc:

That was why I put them in spoiler tags.

I wouldn't put anything serious and plot related in as I don't want that spoiled for myself either.

The first spoiler tag only briefly mentions what one of the chapters will be, without giving details other than what characters and where / when. It reveals no plot, but I felt it was sort of spoilerish, so I placed spoiler tags around it.

The second spoiler is only stating what is going to be available on multiplayer according to what is seen. I only placed spoiler tags around it because a few of the characters related to the above, but such things would be discovered very soon regardless, and anyway it was heading that way.

I think you'd be safer to click here than on youtube. I'd avoid youtube for a while since some people are posting up playthroughs of chapters already... Somehow!

I also expect this game to do very well. I don't see why it shouldn't. After the single player there is going to be lots to do online too, so this game will probably be THE game for a long time for me.

Yeah, because they hacked the game and already have it.. which can be pretty illegal if you ask me! Argie, we have not played much Uncharted II together, but I hope we can play lots of III. About when are you getting the game? Christmas? Yeah, I am refraining from clicking anything. Even those spoiler tags. I think what I meant is, spoiler discussion :wacky: Yeah, this is defo going to be my main PS III game :awesome:

Ill happily play with you though, as I think you are a good guy :monster:

I'm not sure. I might get it around Christmas since I can't afford it myself at the moment. If I don't get it then, then I'll get it when it is reduced. I think the earliest I get it will likely be Christmas though. I have to restrain myself for a few months. :sad2:

I'd love to play with you too, Adrosaur. :argor:

Spoiler rules should apply here for a while. If people are going to discuss plot then they should use tags. Since it's a fresh new game there will be lots of people who have yet to play it or have not completed it on the day of release, so spoiler tags should definitely be used when discussing it.
