The Wolfman (remake)

Loved this film. I seen it when I was in Austrilia with my little brother and it gave us nightmares for days! The cast are brilliant and the transformation into the wolf is amazing. Lots of gore and blood, perfect!

Robin Hood

...I thought this was pretty good. It didn't make much sense until I realised that it was a prequel to the standard story of him being an outlaw. Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett are two of my favourite actors and have great chemistry, the action scenes were pretty good, the plot was well thought-out and not too boring - an achievement for a two-hour film and my short attention span - although I would have liked to have seen more of his merry men...

Overall, I'd give 9/10

Movie: Elderado

Rating: PG

Comments: Gorgeous movie.

Such vibrant colours and beautiful songs. <3

Fantastic characters, especially Miguel. XD

He is too funny. <3

Basically it's about two guys who end up on a ship by mistake and are locked up when found by the captain.

They escape on a row boat in the middle of the night and end up on an island that is home to Elderado.

They had acquired a map earlier on in the story after gambling against some men.

They end up following the trail to Elderado where they are mistaken for Gods and have to keep up the act until they leave. >.<

Awesome movie!

Score: 10/10

Spread

Very good movie in my opinion. I watched Just Married last night, (with Asthon Kutcher) which was a great film as well, and I must admit I got a little emotional. :8F:

Spread is a great take on realism of 'players', seduce the person, get the person, get in their pants, and leave them. Until you meet that someone who you actually have feelings for, and they don't trust you, or play you back just as hard. Asthon Kutcher is a great actor, I think he's the only actor that makes me appreciate a different genre beside Horror.

I thought this film was great. :ryan: I'ma hunt down a list with more Kutcher movies.

9.5/10

Movie: A Bugs Life

Rating: G

Comments: This was an awesome movie when it first came out and still is a favourite.

The graphics are really well done for it's time as well.

Basically what happens is that an ant colony has to prepare food for the grasshoppers every Summer in order for the grasshoppers to protect them from other bugs.

One Summer, an ant named Flic accidentally knocks the offering into a stream and the grasshoppers aren't happy.

So Flic decides that instead of gathering more food for the grasshoppers, they should find bigger bugs to help them fight the grasshoppers.

He ends up finding a bunch of circus folk instead of warriors though. >.<

Quite funny.

It's a cute story and basically about one ant trying to make a difference and of course it's a happy ending. <3

Score: 10/10

Defendor - 10/10

I absolutely loved this film. It mixes the comedy and drama very well. The film probably wouldn't have worked without Harrelson. Nevertheless, it's one of the best superhero films (if it qualifies for one) that I've seen. I gotta admit, I actually felt a little emotional at the end.

Memento

Cheers to Angelus/J for recommending it to me. It's a fucking awesome movie.

It's basically about a man who is trying to find the man who raped and killed his wife, so it is a pretty simple story. Or at least it would be simple if the protagonist wasn't suffering from brain damage which prevents him from storing short term memories. Basically the protagonist has an average memory span of a few minutes and in order to remember anything he has to take a photo of it or write a note about it.

The thing which really makes this film great is the way it is structured. Half of the film's scenes are in colour and the other half are in Black and White, the film consistently alternates between these two types of scenes. The B&W scenes are like a normal movie and are ordered chronologically. The Colour scenes however, start from the end of the story and work their way backwards. What this means is the audience knows what happens but they don't know how or why it happened.

Ultimately this structure gives the audience a way to experience the story from the protagonist's perspective by projecting his condition of memory loss on the audience. We are shown a colour scene, but we don't know how or why it is happening until we see the next colour scene which explains the events leading up to the scene we just saw.

It really is an awesome movie and this is mostly if not solely due to it's original structure.

Karate Kid (2010)

I really enjoyed the movie. The original will always be the classic, but I had a lot of fun watching this at the theater. I thought Jayden did a great job with the character and the kid who played Cheng, the villian, was awesome and was quite scary. And I liked Jackie Chan playing the part of the teacher. The martial arts tournament really felt like you were watching a live tournament. It probably won't be remembered like the original, but I think it's worth it too see it in the theater.

And yes it's called the Karate Kid but they do kung fu in the movie. They note this in the movie and don't get too hung up on the title if you go see it :)

8/10

Movie: Cheech and Chong Up in Smoke

Rating: M

Comments: Meh. It was okay.

Some parts were funny but the whole feel of it was just old and not as great as it obviously once used to be.

Though I wouldn't like a remake seeing as Harold and Kumar seem pretty close to it anyway.

Okay movie.

Score: 7/10

The Book of Eli:

Wow, FANTASTIC! If you ever want a good Fallout style movie, then this is it! Denzel Washington is amazing as always and the ending is so damn good. Its mad how one man will do annything to do good even in the most terrible of times. The casting is great too, Gary Oldman, Malcolm McDowell.

Toy Story 3.

20 minutes ago actually. And it was simply wonderful. I'm not a sequel kinda gal, but it was on par with the first, much better than the second. Any Toy Story fan NEEDS to see it. Seriously.

9/10, only because the first is 10/10 and it wasn't QUITE there.

I went to see Prince of Persia:The Sand of Time.

I give it a 10/10. It was absolutely amazing. The way they filmed a lot of it is perfect. And the actors were simply just...wow. They couldn't have picked better people for the roles. Everything was done perfectly.

The Green Zone

Starring Matt Damon -war-

They could have not bothered with Gemma Arterton. Once again, I found myself desperately wanting her character to die, as I have every time I've seen her in something.

Coraline:

Again, thanks Tesco. £7, bargin. Anyhoo, Ive wanted to see this film for ages and sadly didnt get to the cinema to see it. Such a beautiful and well animated film with great casting and soundtrack. Im glad Henry Selick finally got to make his own movie :)

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
It's a bit slow to start, but it really picks up pace about the time when he first goes on the tug boat. The peripheral characters really make the story interesting (Captain Mike and Elizabeth Abbott in particular). It was just a different take on an every day sort of story for an average man really. There are rather large plot holes, namely why no one seems to get freaked out by the fact that this man is clearly getting younger and younger, but they're easy to ignore.
