[RP] - Spirit Shards

Asher noticed that Lucia was not too keen on their new Royal companion, but the elf didn't really care at this point, she was still pretty annoyed at the woman.

"Well Prince Robert, I am more than happy to have you travel with us!"
She smiled as she started to walk after Lucia. "I don't really have any leads on where the shards are but i know there is a town a couple days walk from here who are temple guardians... I have a feeling they might know something or at least have some old lore to share with us that could help?" As they walked down the cobble road they finally reached Silva Forest... it was really beautiful and magical but Asher knew there were nasty things lurking around inside.

"Hmmm, I have never been through the forest before... but I know there are light Orcs who live in these parts... they love to steal shiny stuff and they feast on flesh." She shuddered just thinking about it gave her shivers. She then thought about Stevie wondering if he had traveled through here alone...
"Hopefully the other two chosen ones came through here as well... I am sure they would be strong enough to take care of themselves... or Aduro wouldn't have blessed them." She then turned to Lucia who seemed irritated. "Well then, are you ready to travel through the forest together, Lucia?"

Chuck entered the Tavern and sat himself at the bar next to Vex sighing as he rubbed his temple. He was so tired... but he didn't think there was time for rest... the best thing to do would be to figure out a plan and get going.

"One Pint a Lager" He called to the bar tender. Chuck noticed that Ezelus, the creature they had met just moments ago had already been and gone... he really didn't like that guy, he gave him the creeps. "Sooo... Vexy." He started, turning to the man next to him. "Got any bright ideas? Aye, well I am thinkin' we should travel to tha next town, dun need to worry about restin' up now, see what information we ca' find from there?"

The bar tender placed Chuck's Pint of beer on the counter. Chuck gave him a nod of thanks and slid a few dollars across the counter to the bar before taking a large gulp of his liquid gold. He sighed, it tasted so good... he'd been surviving off of Shadow Pixie flesh and old stagnant water from water holes.... this was like heaven.

He then leaned in and said quietly "Look, I know you an me ain't the best of friends.... but do ye think we ca' trust ol' sack of bones?" he said referring to Ezelus.

"Look, I know you an me ain't the best of friends.... but do ye think we ca' trust ol' sack of bones?"

Despite having followed the group slowly behind, she was just in time to catch these words of Chuck - and it amused her. Laughing to herself, she sat beside Chuck ordering for herself the house special, whatever it may be. The bartender nodded, and got on with the drink as Celestia looked over to her fellow two chosen ones.

"Well, I don't disag'ee with you, but if he stays t'ue to the quest, I suppose the'e isn't much I can do. When it all comes down to me or them, I prefer it to be them, unless..."

Her voice trailed off with uncertainty. No doubt this quest has an ironically pleasing outcome - salvation through destruction, that is - but it weighed heavily on Celestia's mind. She was trying very hard to reason it out, but only saw more doubts about her quest...

... Yet she knew it only meant the destruction of her own planet should she fail on purpose.

Sighing loudly as her drink arrived, she slammed several coins on the counter and grabbed the drink for a big mouthful. She didn't stop until it was half-full.

"What else is the'e to do with ou' beloved God himself o'de'ing us?"

Vex let out a slight sigh as his comrades sat down and ordered drinks. Their words weighing on his mind, making a hand gesture he waved the bartender over and slid him some money. Taking hold of the glass laid before him he took a swing off his drink and thought to himself "At least i'm not the only one who has doubts about this mission."

Taking another drink from his glass he looked over to Chuck "Mr.cheerfuller disposition. No I don't think we can trust him. He seems to blood lust and full of anger really trust. As for our god" Vex trailed as he shifted some of his attention to Celestia "Hell if I know. He put us on this crazy mission so it may mean two things. His power isn't all that that it's cracked up to be or hes to lazy to do anything himself."

"Well enough of this." Vex said as he took another sip of his drink and slammed it down some to make it appear he was drunk. He still didn't know these two and even if he was working with them, if they thought him to be some of a fool all the better for him. "If we are to be working together some" His speech started to slur some at this point. "I think we should get to know each other some morez yes? Get to know how we can rely on each other in combat." Vex pulled out his sword for them to see, the eight gems embedded in it giving off a slight glow. "I ended up getting this sword here from the city of magic after I left the knights. Bought it off of some strange mage who said I could use magic with it *hic* he said these gems *hic* contain some elemental powers. So how bout yourselves? Bartender can I get another please, I seem to be running empty?"

Speaking with Vex and Celestia

Chuck thought about Acerbus after Vex's little spout about him. Their God... the all mighty God of Darkness had sent them on this little quest... Chuck did wonder why he couldn't collect the shards himself... but if the tales were true Acerbus was trapped within the planet... if he tried to remove himself the world would collapse.

The Male jumped a little as Celestia slammed her coins on the counter and took the biggest swig of beer he'd ever seen a woman do. "Aye, slow down luv." He laughed as he watched her. "You'll be competen' with the men, drinkin like that!!"

Then Vex took a drink. The males next words seemed very slurred.... was the man drunk already?

"If we are to be working together some I think we should get to know each other some morez yes? Get to know how we can rely on each other in combat.
I ended up getting this sword here from the city of magic after I left the knights. Chuck raised an eyebrow at the sword... a magic user. Being narrow minded Chuck did not like this at all. Umbran's were warriors, not Mages. Mages were weak, tricky and deceiving.
"A magic use are ya?" he asked "This is quite interesting. So ya got some Relucescian blood runnin' through yer veins..." Chuck then took a large gulp of lager drinking down the rest of the pint in only a couple of gulps then ordered another drink, another pint of the same stuff. "Maybe ya shouldn't have anymore, lad. You look like ya can't handle yer alcohol..."

Chuck didn't really know how to answer Vex's question regarding his fighting style... anyone could guess he was a Guard from the kingdom if he told them... and his sword was a dead give away with the crest engraved in gold on it so he turned to Celestia "So little woman, what can you bring to the table that us men can't?" He looked over her with his deep brown eyes, she really was as pretty as a picture. It was almost a shame she'd have to go to battle.

Celestia
In conversation with Vex and Chuck

Celestia rolled her eyes at Chuck, finishing up her glass and calling for a second round.

Vex clearly wasn't the type to drink - drunk after his first gulp of the liquor. Celestia chuckled at the sight, feeling just a little tipsy herself, but well enough to see clearly, and think clearly - let alone, speak clearly. Yet his answer didn't do much to put to rest the doubts she was having about this quest - a world was to be destroyed by they themselves.

While it might save their own world, no matter how Celestia rationalized, there didn't seem to be a good enough way to encourage herself to take so many lives at one shot. Be that as it may, she was still keen to continue the quest, thinking it best to do so.

The answers will come later... I hope.

Vex went on to show off his weapon, all in his apparent drunken haze. While it did seem strange that there could be someone that was already drunk just after one drink, Celestia dismissed that, not bothering to even answer his question that he asked in passing.

However, she couldn't ignore what Chuck seemed to suggest in his words to her.

"So little woman, what can you bring to the table that us men can't?"

Scowling, she glared at him,"'Little'?"

Gulping down her second round of drinks, she slouched over the counter as she called for a third round.

"Maybe so, maybe so, right~? Ha ha ha!"

Her face was starting to get flushed as she gulped down her third glass, and still went on to call for a fourth - and a fifth, on whim.

"Drink, drink, drink! Tomorrow will come and life begins anew!"

Before anyone could protest, her fourth round was down, to the surprise of even the bartender, and she was on to her fifth, sipping it.

"Hey, I'm not 'little'. I can fight, you know."

Walking onwards to the entrance of the forest Lucia pondered over where they are, being outside the town borders meant the area was bound to be dangerous. It didn't take a genius to know there would be monsters around, with fatigue starting to set in it would be wise to camp outside the forest and tackle it when they were rested.

Then her mind flashed back to what happened a moment ago, barely met and already Asher had taken a shine to someone else, that naivety would only get her killed, it was up to her to protect her from this.

"Well then, are you ready to travel through the forest together, Lucia?"

Asher's voice broke Lucia's concentration, composing herself and without giving her as much as a glance, Lucia replied while walking onwards

"We set up camp here, we'll head into the forest tomorrow"

Walking off on her own she headed into the forest to gather some dry wood for a fire.

Walking in a conversation with Chuck Vex and Celestia

Ferion entered the Tavern and sat with The others in the group. The waitress walks up to the table.
"Can I get you something Mr. Ferion?" The waitress asked.
"The usual." He said as he listen to what the group was saying.

"If we are to be working together some I think we should get to know each other some morez yes? Get to know how we can rely on each other in combat.

Vex was saying to Chuck.

Ferion thoguht to himself 'Great drunk already, this is going be a long trip.'

A magic use are ya?" Chuck asked "This is quite interesting. So ya got some Relucescian blood runnin' through yer veins..." Ferion had a little smirk on his face 'Is this really a group that the great 'god' wanted to save his world, this shall be very amusing.'

'Little'?" Ferion heard Celestia say.

Gulping down her second round of drinks, she slouched over the counter as she called for a third round.

After they were talking Ferion stayed silent while he grabbed his glass and drank it all down.

"Simple enough" Ferion laughed

Out of the forest and onto the plains. Aklyss began walking in the direction of the Otium/Tempero fork, wary of the light orcs he knew lived nearby. Many times he had seen them in Silva and he knew they had an encampment near. Traveling towards the fork, he spotting figures moving in the distance to his left from the abnormally large size they had to be light orcs. One seemed to be dragging something behind it.

The four must have just come back from a hunt and what they were dragging must have been one of the Lupus that some would catch and turn into jerky. Akyss kept walking. It wasn't until a few dozen step laters that he heard the pounding of footsteps behind him. There was a low whistle as something was swung at his back only to hit his shoulder liek a love tap. The attack had been slowed somehow.

Turning Aklyss saw that the one who attacked was wielding a mace. He smiled slighly and the same staff that Stevie had seen appeared in his hand from thin air. He swung it at the orc's head. It was easily blocked by the mace and at that the orc smile and opened his mouth to laugh. It was caught dead in his throat. From the staff a crescent of black ice had shot forth, the blade impaling the orce through the skull and severing the brain.

With one fluid motion, Akyss withdrew it from the orc and kicked the body down. The other three looked to each other, wondering if it was worth it to try and take the obviously magical staff from Aklyss after seeing what he had done.

They made their advance.

Speaking with Prince Robert and Lucia.

"We set up camp here, we'll head into the forest tomorrow" were the only words Lucia said to the bunch before walking off on her own. Asher wasn't sure where she was going but she assumed it was for supplies. The young elf wasn't tired though... she was worried, worried that the little nymph boy Stevie was lost in the forest or worse.

Asher turned to Prince Robert with her hands on her hips. "Well I guess we have no choice but to stay here.... Lucia doesn't seem to want to travel anymore..." She signed and sat herself on a large rock near the entrance to the Forest. "Prince Robert.... how do you feel about our mission?" she asked looking up at him with her large purple eyes. "Why do you think we were chosen out of everyone...why do the Gods even need us to do their dirty work?"

Asher was usually a firm believer in Aduro but she found her faith wavering... she didn't ask for this... she was happy living her life on the farm... it was simple and pleasing.

Chuck laughed deeply as he watched Celestia gulp down her drinks, she was obviously trying to show them just how much of a 'man' she could be. He wondered how long it would take her before she was smashed off her face.

"Slow down, Lady." He smiled "You'll pass out at the rate yer goin'. I don't wanna have ta carry you across tha Broken Path coz ya too slammed ta walk!" Chuck took another slow gulp of his lager. To be honest, he wouldn't mind carrying the lady... he's probably cop a feel and see if she noticed.... he smirked at his thoughts...

Ferion, the dark elf and their fourth team mate then came over and sat with them. He didn't say much... he actually seemed like a nice enough guy, but Chuck's Paranoia and suspicious nature got the better of him.

"So... Ferion was it?" h
e placed his pint back on the counter and rotated his body to face the elf. "So what's yer story? We don't know much 'bout ya... like ol' drunk vexy over yonder said, it'd be good ta get ta know one another... we'll be battling for tha planets life startin' now."

Looking through the opening of the forest, it was surprisingly well stocked with dry wood, the sun must be favouring it well. Going a little further in to gather the rest she heard a low thud up ahead, not wanting a future danger for Asher she went to investigate it.

It didn't take her long to find her targets, two Light Orcs had picked up their scent and were on the attack, not wanting to let them go further, Lucia took up her blades.

"I needed to let off some anger anyway, you'll do I guess"

With her position easily discovered by now the Light Orcs both charged her, swinging maces almost as large as her, jumping back she avoided the first swing and jumped onto it's arm before leaping off it and slashing it's throat, considering their hunger, their strength seemed limited so even Lucia could overpower them.

Turning her attention to the second she narrowly avoided it's swing with a dodge roll to the side before she instinctively pulled out a crossbow and fired directly into it's eyes, piercing through to the brain.

"Nobody threatens Asher on my watch"

Approaching the second Light Orc she withdrew her crossbow bolts and wiped the blood and goo off on a nearby tree before putting them away and regathering her pile of drywood.

"Even if it's not appreciated I guess I have no choice here, nobody harms Lucia's treasures after all... We'll have to be more careful when we head inside, I doubt we'll be lucky enough to only encounter hungry ones further within"

Holding the drywood to her chest she began to leave the forest, slightly calmer now she'd vented some of her frustration out.

Vex sighed as he heard Chuck call him Vexy, spinning around in his own chair spilling more of his second drink. Going on more with drunken facade he took a sip of his drink. "Ehh Chuckers the name is Vex not Vexy, the name is simple enough no? haha come Celestia lets drink and show them we can handle the good stuff."

Vex looked over to their newest patron and the fourth member of their so called party. "So your are fourth member are ya. Ignore Chuckles here, he can be a downer *hic* why not have a couple of rounds with *hic* us, andd enjoy the good times. Ya can tell us what ye about over *burb* pardon me, the good times here* Sit back and relax I don't think we will be going anywhere soon tonight. Gates *hic* are probably closed for the night."

Ferion looked at the group as the waitress gave him another drink. "Not much to tell I live in this city I'm Ferion and I'm a night elf, nothing that exciting."

Ferion wanted to keep as much to himself as possible, he didn't want to let anyone in on his past or his own goals for doing this mission. He figured as long as they were on the same quest it didn't matter what anyones past was, or why they wanted to collect the shards for this 'god'. He took another gulp from his drink as he began to get lost in his thoughts.

"Chuckers?" the large man laughed joyfully. "I 'ave been called many things before but never that, aye and I'm sorry Vex-lad, it's a habit-a mine, callin' people what ever pops into ma thick skull." Taking the last gulp of his pint and placing it on the counter. He was almost done here... Chuck really didn't want to stay another night... he wanted to get going. This was no time for relaxing... plus he needed to be on the move to avoid being captured. Then Frerion answered:

"Not much to tell I live in this city I'm Ferion and I'm a night elf, nothing that exciting."

Chuck raised an eyebrow... that sounded like something he would say... which probably mean't the elf was hiding something... perhaps it was something important... he'd have to keep a close eye on the man.
Vex's speech was getting rather slurred and hardly understandable...maybe it was time to put the drinking to a halt.

"Alright you two." He said calmly to both Vex and Celestia "perhaps it be time ta put tha drinks down, gettin' past tha gate innt too hard. Lets go camp out towards the baron road, there be some rock caves along the road fa shelter." He felt odd... being the 'moral' and 'mature' one.
Chuck intercepted the new glass of beer that the bartender had slid over to Vex and pushed it out of the man's reach. "Tonight we leave, Vex." He said sternly. "No more of this."

Celestia
Moving out of the Tavern

Chuck may have stopped Vex's next drink, but he certainly forgot about hers. Gulping down hers, she decided she should stop as well, amidst her drunken stupor. Squinting as she looked at her fellow Chosen Ones, she sighed, standing up and walking towards the door.

Her steps felt unsteady, but looked steady enough to anyone watching her. It was almost as if she wasn't drunk - though really, it was more a case of well-exercised control on Celestia's part. Without waiting for the others to follow, she pushed past the door.

As if on cue, she quickly surged forward onto the main street, vomiting.

[OOC: A short post to get the story on the streets. Lol.]

His eyes flashed and they began to glow, taking on an otherworldly color. From behind the leftmost orc, his shadow rose and spiked tendrils lashed out at him, whipping him with frightening speed. The spikes gouged holes into the flesh and they bled profusely. The orc howled in pain and twisted around to see who had attacked him. Imagine his surprise to find it was his own shadow!

His allies turned to determine what their comrade was going on about. Taking this chance, Aklyss ran towards the one in the fore, his scythe spinning in his hand. He brought it around in an arc and decapitated the orc. The head flew off to land in the grass, a dumbfounded look on its face.

The one not being assailed by magic turned his attention back to Akyss and raised his axe threateningly. To the side the other one was being whipped into a frenzy, its eyes tinging red with bloodlust.

"A good idea. I'll set up the tents." Robert spoke. His riding tiger, which he retrieved from the stables before they left, laid down so that Robert could get at the supply bags and start pulling out his camping gear. Despite his royal nature, the equipment he had taken with him for his travel from Divitie to the temple was more rugged than it was showy.

As he began to pitch the tent, Asher came to him to talk about the mission. "Tis a difficult task in more ways than simply finding the crystals. It would be one thing if the task was merely saving our world while no other world was involved, but that we must condemn another world and its people to oblivion sits ill with me." Robert replied as he fixed the poles and tarp.

"However, we do know that if nothing is done, then both worlds will die. The Goddess is linked to this world as the dark God is linked to the other. But at the same time it does make me wonder something." he added before hammering the fastening nails into the ground. "There are eight shards, but only seven are needed to ressurect either deity. Consider that the two worlds were, at one point in time, one larger world. What do you think would happen if all eight crystals were used instead of the seven needed for one deity?" Robert asked,

Speaking with Prince Robert and Lucia

Asher helped Prince Robert hold the tent up as he tapped the pins into the ground. It was not really a huge tent, but big enough for the three of them to share for one night.
She listened to the man talk... he said many wise things that really made Asher think... especially the part about the 8 shards... "That is a very good point Prince." She said with a thoughtful expression. "We could try going after all eight... but who know's if the Umbrian's will want to cooperate with such a plan... we all know our God is much more tolerable than theirs...Acerbus just wants war..." she sighed and let go of the tent once all the pins had been knocked in place

Asher stared off into the woods, wondering what was taking Lucia so long. It was still bright out as always but that didn't stop the people of the light planet from having a bed time... She was getting tired and Orcs knew to come out around this time... they'd usually hunt around this time as most people were already in bed.

"I hope the light orcs didn't get to her..." Asher said quietly, but the girl could tell the woman knew how to take care of herself. Asher then noticed a figure coming out from the woods... was it Lucia? "Lucia is that you?" She called loud enough for the figure to hear her.

Celestia got up and left... which told Chuck that the woman was ready to start their adventure. "Well guys, we been dawdling around 'ere fer too long. The Lass want's ta get goin'" He smiled at Vex and Ferion before getting up from his seat and following Celestia out.

The Tavern was close to the gates leading to the broken path and Chuck could already see Ezelus waiting there. "Well there's ar suspicious team mate." He spoke quietly to Celestia as they made their way over. "Alright creature." He called to the wraith "Ya don't have ta look so bored and impatient. We're just about ready to go. Jus' waitin on the drunk idiot Vexy and the elf."

Chuck looked at the gates, they were quite huge, made of iron and were very sturdy. He scratched his chin; which was covered in stubble from not having a shave in a while, and thought about how to get over this it. The tall male followed the wall down a bit, and noticed some of the stone on one part of the wall had crumbled a bit, making some nice footing holes.

"Well.... looks if we could climb over tha wall 'ere. Jus' gotta hope there be some kind of footing on tha other side... we are on a cliff afta all." He laughed joyfully. "Now where are those two...?"

Stevie was wondering around the forest still. He had no idea how long it had been since the other boy had abandoned him, nor did he really care. He was more concerned with finding his way out of the forest. He knew that that many different creatures called this forest home, but so far he had been lucky enough not to come across any.

As if fate determined to make him regret those words, he found himself face to face with three light orcs. Cursing his luck, he hoped that they hadn’t noticed him and dived behind a tree. He heard grunting, and assumed that they had least spotted his movement, and were going to investigate. He had to think quickly.

Rolling out from behind the tree, he threw forth his hands and summoned a strong gust, knocking them from their feet. He raised his hand, and two small fire balls appeared suspended above his palms. It had took him a long time to learn to focus his power like this, and even now it took a bit of thought.

Tossing them toward the orcs, he was subjected to the smell of burnt orc flesh. It wasn’t pleasant. Trying to block the smell out he looked up from the charred bodies, and saw that the forest was thinning out ahead of him. How he hadn’t noticed before was beyond him, and he felt a lurch of happiness rush up his throat. He was almost out.

Addressing Asher

"There is an air of power I noticed about her. I am sure she is capable of defending herself, though whether or not she is wise enough to return to us should she be in over her head is unknown." Robert responded to Asher's concern for Lucia.

"But I think the very fact that Acerbus was very selfish and war-hungry may be a benefit to us in negotiating. Before the divide, Acerbus created a male-only civilization for the sole purpose of being disposable cannon fodder for his conquests. Free will was shunned and considering what happened when an Umbrian fell in love with a Relucsian, he proved that he cared nothing for the lives of even his own people." Robert spoke.

"Now, if Acerbus was to be the sole deity ressurected, the Umbrians would lose whatever freedom they have enjoyed up until now. From what the historical reports have said about their culture, they have even modified their birthing tree so that females could be born, an act that I'm sure would not please Acerbus. They would all become nothing more than disposable creations for His desires of conquest once more. If it came down to only one being allowed to be reborn and the eight shard idea in order to unify the planets and possibly merge both deities into one entity not work, then I would wish for our Goddess to be reborn and that we would offer sanctuary to the Umbrians so that they could live in our world. While I am certain it would not be an initially peaceful settlement, I am certain that with time and education on both sides, the refugees would come to live peaceful lives here." Robert concluded as he pulled out a mess kit from the riding bag, along with a few cans of stew.

The orc raised its axe and began circling to the left of Aklyss. Keeping his scythe up, he countered the movement. Behind him the grass shuffled and he heard panting without the cries of pain, he knew his spell had worn off. Keeping his head turned toward the axe-wielding one, he angled himself so he was between the two of them. Ahead, the orc grinned as the other grabbed Aklyss' wrists and drew them behind the boy, pushing him forward.

The one ahead walked towards Akylss, a smug grin on its face. As his evening shadow stretched to reach under Akyss' feet, he melted into the shadows, dropping through the arms of his captor and coming up just a few feet in front of the axe-wielding orc. With his movement, he brought up his scythe from below, the magic blade busecting the orc from groin to neck.

Spinnign around as the shaft of his scythe spun in his hand over his head, he brought it down at the last one's head. Still shocked as it was, it was able to avoid a killing blow, at the cost of an arm. The limb flew off and instictively, the orce grabbed the bleeding stump and howled in pain.

"A shame," Aklyss said emotionlessly.

The momentum staying with the weapon, the shaft spun around his wrist. catching it with his other hand he brought it around in a horizontal arc. It sliced through the orc's stomach, between the bones and cutting it in half. The orc didn't even realize it as it stood there clutching its stump.

His scythe faded away and Aklyss continued on his way. Behind him, the orc cried out as it found that its legs wouldn't move and began to panic causing the torso to fall off into the grass, staining the green blades red.
